Chapter 2 - Destruction of a city

Well, that was what everyone thought until an incident occured. The research institute thought they had found a way for humans to harness this energy safely and announced this to the entire world. This was applauded by everyone but no one knew the truth of what had happened .

On the sixth of august, 2024, millions of people tuned in to the international news to watch the historical moment where humans would "break their mortal shackles" as the headlines read. But no one thought that what would go down in history would not be the rise of meta-humans, but the death of over 10 million people and the destruction of one of America's most cherished states.

When the explosion was caught on camera, and I watched it live, that's when I knew that I must find a way to safely harness dark matter, no matter the cost.

Hours turned to days. Days turned to weeks. Weeks turned to months. And months turned to years. I spent a total of 2 years 3 months, 1 week and 16 days to find a safe means to harness dark matter. But after all my troubles, it...failed. I was so frustrated that I accidentally spilled the vial of concentrated dark matter.

Unlike the beserk state that it was originally at, after a long series of experiments, it now possessed intelligence. I know right? How can energy posses intelligence. But that's what I found out, that it isn't a form of energy but a living substance. But this thing was by no means friendly. It possessed overflowing hatred for me because I had trapped it in that vial for over a year for my experiments.

Thus when it escaped it's confinement, instead of blowing up the whole place, it immediately invaded my body causing me to suffer unbearable pain. It felt as if my muscles were being torn apart slowly, and my innards were being devoured by millons of burning insects.
