Chapter 2 - Chapter— 2

Seeing that as an opportunity, Derek pulled out a pocket knife from his sleeve. He snatched the gun from Thomas's hands and stabbed his left hand with the pocket knife.

"Ahhhh!!!!!" Thomas yelled in pain. Thinking that was not enough, he stabbed him three times in his stomach.

Not wanting to give him any satisfaction, Thomas gritted his teeth to muffle his painful screams. Derek pulled out the knife from his stomach and kicked in the shin, causing him to crash on the floor. Taking out a handkerchief from his coat's pocket, he started wiping the bloodstains on the knife.

He looked at him and said, "Thomas, whether you believe it or not, your student is dead," he sat on the floor, "Thomas, do you remember what I had told you years ago? I told you that I will find her then, kill her and finally take that from her. Listen to me," he clapped his hands as if he was some sort of a child, "I killed her. Not only killed her but also, I killed her husband. My, my, Thomas, it was so satisfying. I relished each and every bit of that moment. It was even better than the Negroni and trust me nothing is better than that fucking drink. Do you know she was begging to spare her husband? Like literally, I was shocked. How dare she? She deprived me from my ultimate wish."

He got up from the ground and crouched down in front of him. Sensing that Thomas wanted to say something, he put a finger on his lips and shushed him.

"You have gotten old, my friend. You are no longer that man who used to be my equal. Now, you are an old and helpless man. Oh! Sorry I was distracted from the topic. Where was I? Yeah, she begged me in exchange to spare her husband's life. That woman, who almost killed me, that very was begging down on her knees to spare her better half's life. How many times I am going to repeat this goddammit? Maybe this because of the excitation, the joy that I am telling you that I have killed your beloved student. Is this called karma? God is so great that he, himself gave me the opportunity to get my revenge. The lord is so merciful. He, that guy sitting in the heaven, is so gracious. I can't believe it. You—"

"You are—"

Derek slapped Thomas right across his cheek, effectively causing him to shut up from the pain from the slap. He yelled, "DON'T INTERUPT ME WHEN I AM SPEAKING. YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO SAY ANYTHING. ONLY SOMEONE WHO HOLDS POWER CAN SAY ANYTHING. YOU, THOMAS DECKINS HAVE NO RIGHT." Thomas was barely holding onto his life. He was bleeding profusely. Derek observed his wounds and sighed deeply.

Taking a deep breath, Derek said, "Sorry for my outburst. But you have to understand that you are no longer that man who has any... value. You are valueless. So again, I am sorry. You will just listen to me and keep your mouth shut. Ok, coming back to the topic. I killed your student and her husband. Both husband and wife begged me to spare the other's life. Also, some other things happened which are clearly not important. The main point is I have found it. I have found where that fucking thing is. Now, to answer your question that you asked so many fucking times, I am here to do three things. I have completed two of them, and I am going to complete the last one."

Thomas was breathing heavily. Weakly, he said, "Derek, I never thought you would stoop so low. How can you even look yourself in the mirror? You are no longer the man that I, once thought of as my brother."

"Well, that man is dead, Thomas and so are you. The Thomas of the past would have successfully defended from that cheap attack of mine," said Derek in an indifferent tone.

"Your l-last task... is to kill me, isn't it?"

Derek nodded and answered, "Yes. It seems your brain is still working," he bit his lips, "are you not going to stop me? Fight me. Here, take it." He placed a gun near him on the ground.

Thomas chuckled and refused to take the gun. He smirked, "Derek, are you really a moron? Do you think I will fight you? Bastard, I am not going to give you... your wish. Besides, I am an old man, I don't have any fight left in me."

"Fight me."

"As I said before, my answer is no."

"Fight me."

"No."

"DAMMIT, FIGHT ME!"

"NO! I WILL NOT FIGHT YOU."

Derek gritted his teeth and scowled, "Fine. Have it your way. Die like pathetic bastard. Any last wish?" He picked up that gun pointed it right at Thomas's head

Thomas shook his head and said, "No, I don't have any last wish. The only thing I have is regrets. Regret of what you have become, regret of not being able to protect her and regret of not killing you. I should have killed you."

"Too bad, we don't get what we wish for, do we? Humans are always so greedy. They always want something, even on their death bed. 'We want to go to heaven. We deserve to go to heaven. We have never done anything bad to anyone.' See, because of people these, people like me do whatever they want. You have regrets? Regretting is like a trait exclusive to us humans. So, keep your regrets to yourself. Also, do you know that your student has a daughter? Bet, she is cute, right?"

Thomas's eyes widened as soon as he heard the word 'daughter' from Derek's mouth.

"I WILL KILL YOU, IF YOU DARE TO—"

Thomas's remained uncomplete as Derek shot him right in his head. Derek said, "It seems another regret or I would say failure has been to your list."

He stood up and went out of the shop. A man wearing a suit came towards him and asked, "Sir, shall we put this shop on fire?"

"Why? To destroy evidence?"

"Yes, my lord."

Derek looked at him and said, "No need. It doesn't matter. What matters is to retrieve my thing back. It belongs to me and only me."

"Yes, Sir."

"Did you kill those people who wanted to escape the shop?"

"Yes, Sir. We have killed all of them and cleared all the evidences. Not a—"

"Shut up. Just answer what I am asking you. Understood?"

"Yes, Sir"

"What are we waiting for? Let's go."

"Yes, Sir."

Both Derek and that man entered into a car and left the scene. This time, Derek hoped that he would find it. Even the almighty would not able to save those people, who would obstruct in his way.
