Chapter 149 - THE BIG GREY MAN OF BEN MACDHUI

ORIGIN: Scotland

The Big Grey Man of Ben MacDhui, also known as AM FEAR LIATH MÒR in Scottish Gaelic, is a legend from the fog-covered peaks of the Cairngorm Mountains in Scotland.

This entity is said to haunt Ben MacDhui, the highest peak in the range and the second-highest mountain in Scotland.

It is a tall being cloaked in mist, with a very a strong aura.

The legend gained popularity in the early 20th century when the respected mountaineer Professor J. Norman Collie publicly retold his experience with it.

In 1891, while alone on the mountain, Collie heard heavy, rhythmic footsteps following him, deliberately.

The steps sounded so large for a human yet despite this fact of it being large, Collie never saw the creature through the mist.

This of course made him run in panic.

His story made other climbers to open up on their own similar accounts about feeling watched or pursued by an unseen entity.

Some witnesses have claimed to have gotten a very brief glimpse of a tall, grey figure moving through the mist.

Many argue that the phenomenon is something called 'a Brocken Spectre', which is an optical illusion caused by sunlight casting a climber's shadow onto the fog.

However, all those who've experienced the Grey Man insist it is something far more than that.
