Hagan approached the gate and two tall men with swords appeared from inside the gate.
"Who are you and what business do you have with us?"
Hagan was visibly shocked at the fact he could understand them, perhaps it was due to The Speaker and the Trials translating.
The two men glanced at each other a stepped forward.
Hagan answered with a hoarse voice, careful with what he was saying.
"My names Hagan and I'm just looking for some place safe to stay."
The men looked Hagan up and down and glanced at each other again.
"I, I have a gift, I'm not sure how much it's worth but I can share some of the meat I've harvested in exchange."
Hagan quickly reached into his time pocket which was more simple than he thought it'd be, all he has to do is think about the time pocket, and a small fissure would appear in from of him, then he'd simply reach inside and grab what he needed.
He pulled out four small animals with long ears, fluffy and short tails, and hind legs that were longer and more powerful than the front.
The gaurds took the animals and once again, they glanced at each other.
'Is this some sort of secret communication technique, just say something!'
"… We'll take you to the village chief and decide from there. Come, and don't do anything rash or you will die today."
Hagan followed the guards throughout the village. The houses were made of the same wood red wood that the forest was comprised of, most had windows but as resources were limited in the forest, there was no glass, simply small doors the could be opened or closed. He couldnt help but be amazed with the craftsmanship of the wooden abodes.
He noticed that each some houses were the exact same, some however, were much larger, sometimes wider and sometimes having a second floor. One thing they all had in common regardless of size was that each was adorned with peeping eyes to catch a gander at the newcomer.
Hagan tried his best to ignore the eyes and continue walking behind the gaurds. As they walked, a small crowd began to follow them as they approached the village chiefs house. Hagan guessed that there was no less than four hundred residents of the village, with nearly a quarter of that behind them, gossiping about what their witnessing.
Eventually, they approached a house that had three stories and seemed even more extravagant and beautiful then the rest of the houses. An elderly man stepped out of the house and was wearing white garbs and supporting himself with a cane. His hair perfectly gray to match his old age.
With a slightly raspy but definitive voice, he spoke, "Young one, what brings you here on this fine day?"
"I was wandering the forest when I noticed this village. I was hoping I could rest here."
"Hm."
The village chief walked down the steps and approached Hagan, the two gaiters were now standing on either side of the chief with their hands resting on their weapons.
"Young man, these woods are no place to venture alone in, especially with no weapons or armor. Come with me, you must be tired."
