Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Six princes.

As the maids worked their magic, Sofia's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of gentle chatter and the soft clinking of jewelry. Emma and the other maids were transforming her into a vision of loveliness, fit for a royal ball.

Sofia's hair was styled in an intricate updo, adorned with delicate silver pins and a sprinkle of diamonds. Her skin glowed with a subtle radiance, thanks to the careful application of scented oils and fragrant powders. The maids had even painted her nails a deep crimson, matching the color of her lips.

As the final touches were applied, Emma stepped back to admire her handiwork. "You look stunning, Your Highness," she said, her eyes shining with pride.

Sofia gazed at her reflection in the mirror, hardly recognizing the elegant woman staring back at her. The gown, a masterpiece of silk and satin, hugged her curves in all the right places, showcasing her slender waist and delicate shoulders. The earrings sparkled like diamonds, and the silver chain glinted in the light.

With a final flourish, Emma draped a delicate cloak over Sofia's shoulders, fastening it with a tiny brooch. "It's time, Your Highness," she said, offering Sofia her arm.

Sofia took a deep breath, steeling herself for the ordeal ahead. She placed her hand on Emma's arm, and together they followed the other maids out of the bedchamber.

As they made their way through the winding corridors, Sofia's heart pounded in her chest. She could hear the distant sound of music and laughter, growing louder with each step.

Finally, they reached the grand entrance to the hall. The doors swung open, revealing a sea of faces, all turned towards Sofia. The music swelled, and the room erupted into applause as Sofia, resplendent in her finery, stepped into the hall.

As Sofia walked through the grand hall, her heart pounded in her chest like a drum. She knew that once she reached the throne, there would be no turning back. Her father's decision was final, and she couldn't bring herself to disobey him.

The hall was filled with the cream of society, all gathered to witness the spectacle. Armed guards stood at attention in the four corners of the room, their eyes scanning the crowd with a mixture of curiosity and vigilance.

At the front of the hall, King Herod sat on his throne, his piercing gaze surveying the room. Beside him, Queen Isabella smiled graciously, her eyes shining with warmth. The king's loyalty to his wife was legendary, and Sofia felt a pang of gratitude towards her parents for setting such a wonderful example.

To the right of the throne, the royal families from each province were seated, their faces a picture of curiosity and anticipation. The six princes, each representing their respective provinces, sat in the front row, their eyes fixed on Sofia with varying degrees of interest and admiration.

On the left side of the hall, the king's friends and a few select guests were seated, their faces a mixture of excitement and curiosity.

This was the first phase of the royal gathering, where Sofia would meet each of the princes and get to know them. The next phase would be the challenges, a series of games and tests designed to prove each prince's responsibility, bravery, and worthiness to marry the princess.

Sofia didn't bother to look around, her eyes fixed on the floor as she walked towards the throne. She made her greetings to her parents, her voice barely above a whisper, and took her seat beside the king. Queen Isabella smiled at her reassuringly, and Sofia felt a small sense of comfort.

With everything settled, the king raised his hand, and the room fell silent. "It is time for the princes to introduce themselves," he declared, his voice booming across the hall.

The six princes stood up, their faces set with determination, and began to make their way towards the throne. Sofia's heart skipped a beat as she realized that the moment of truth had finally arrived. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for what was to come, and looked up to meet the gaze of the first prince.
