The magic system in Anorak is centered around Aura, the lifeforce energy that is present in all living beings and the world itself. Aura determines a person's strength, magical capabilities, and ability to manipulate the environment. The power system is divided into ranks, which measure one's overall magical and physical prowess:
Stars and Ranks:
• Individuals and entities are ranked by the Star System, ranging from 1 Star (weakest) to 9
Star (Strongest).
• 1–3 Stars: Common among adventurers and low-level knights.
• 4Stars: Seasoned warriors, and elite mages.
• 5-6 Stars: Reserved for the most powerful beings, such as Black Knights or heroes.
• 7 Stars and above: World-altering entities like Primordial Demons or Monsters of godlike strength.
Aura: The Source of Power
Aura is the universal energy that governs all life and magic in Anorak. It is the essence of one's soul and vitality, making it the foundation of the world's power system.
Aura Utilization:
• Magic Types: Individuals specialize in elemental magic (fire, water, wind, earth), advanced types (lightning, blood, void), or unique personal techniques.
• Combat Integration: Many warriors enhance physical attacks with their aura, making even a simple strike devastating.
• Manifestations: Aura can take forms such as shields, weapons, or projectiles, depending on the user's control and specialty.
Types of Aura:
• Elemental Aura: Fire, water, wind, and earth are the most common, but rarer types like blood aura or void aura exist.
• Chaotic Aura: Associated with demons and corrupted entities, chaotic aura is unstable and destructive, often altering the user's surroundings.
• Divine Aura: Possessed by saints or beings blessed by the gods, it is powerful and pure, counteracting demonic energy.
Aura Control:
• Skilled mages and warriors refine their aura for efficiency, allowing them to sustain longer battles.
• Reckless usage can deplete aura, leaving the user vulnerable or even dead.
Envision Spell:
• This spell allows users to perceive the aura and rank of others. It is essential in combat and diplomacy, as it reveals the true strength of allies and enemies.
Abyss Gates
Abyss Gates are portals to the Black Continent of Noir, the domain of demons and corrupted magic. These gates are openings in reality created by powerful demons or beings tampering with forbidden magic. They serve as conduits for demons to enter the human realm, wreaking havoc and establishing footholds for larger invasions.
Creation of Abyss Gates:
• Only demons of 5-star rank or higher can open Abyss Gates.
• The gates draw from the surrounding aura, corrupting the land and people nearby, creating zones of chaos and death.
Consequences:
• Altered Reality: Areas near an Abyss Gate are transformed by demonic magic, becoming hostile environments filled with traps, corrupted lifeforms, and oppressive aura.
• Demonic Invasion: These gates allow hordes of demons to pour into the human realm, spreading destruction and furthering the influence of Noir.
Sealing Abyss Gates:
• Only the combined efforts of powerful mages, saints, or divine artifacts can seal Abyss Gates. Killing the demon who created the gate also collapses it.
Alter Reality
Alter Reality is a rare and dangerous magic that allows users to reshape their surroundings, bending the fabric of space and nature to their will. It is typically used by demons and high-ranking mages capable of manipulating vast amounts of aura.
Mechanics:
• Alter Reality uses the caster's aura to impose their will on the environment, creating surreal and often hostile landscapes.
• Examples include summoning forests, altering weather, creating labyrinths, or even conjuring entire cities.
Costs and Risks:
• Alter Reality is extremely taxing, often requiring vast reserves of aura or sacrificial rituals.
• Sustaining the altered space drains the user's aura continuously, making it a double-edged sword.
Demons and Alter Reality:
• Most high-ranking demons automatically alter reality in their presence, warping their surroundings into corrupted domains.
• These environments enhance the demon's abilities and weaken their enemies, creating a near-impossible challenge for intruders.
Curse System
Curses in Anorak are sinister magical afflictions placed upon individuals, objects, or even entire areas. They are created by demons, corrupted magic, or forbidden rituals. These curses are deeply tied to a demon's rank and aura, ranging from minor inconveniences to life-altering or reality-warping effects.
Curse Categories
Minor Curses (Low-Rank Demons: 1–3 Stars)
•Nature: These are superficial curses that affect the victim's daily life, emotions, or physical healing.
Intermediate Curses (Mid-Rank Demons: 4–5 Stars)
•Nature: Intermediate curses are more destructive, often targeting the victim's core aura, relationships, or lifespan.
Greater Curses (High-Rank Demons: 6 Stars and Above)
•Nature: Greater curses are deeply insidious and cannot be removed through ordinary means. They are often tied to the caster's life force, spreading over time like a disease and affecting not only the cursed but also their surroundings.
Primordial Curses (Primordial Demons: 8 Stars)
• Nature: Curses from Primordial Demons are nearly unbreakable and become a defining part of the victim's existence. There are fewer curses and more contracts of suffering, binding the victim to the demon's will or an eternal fate.
• Effects:
• Mark of the Primordial: Victims bear a physical symbol that represents their torment, and resonates with the demon's magic. The mark may grant immense power at the cost of one's humanity or soul.
A person who possesses more than one curse is considered an abnormality.
Mastering aura is essential for survival, but understanding its dangers—like chaotic or demonic influences—is equally important.
