Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Beginning

6 years later after Universe War I has ended, the planets that have participated in the war are in the amidst of recovery from the occurred aftermath. Also, the planet Earth, was a part of the war between planets, where no one wants for such the great war which causes drastical aftermaths to happen.

At the operation base of Intergalactic Federation in Japan, in the database archives, the snow-colored hair young woman with a pair of cat ears on her head and a cat tail is arranging the document files on the shelves.

"*sigh* Why are there so much files in the archives like this?" said the young woman as she is arranging the files.

"Why're ya complaining, Akira? Y'know that the federation's work isn't that little." The seaweed-colored hair young man tells her.

"I know, Adik. But I didn't expect to be this much." said Akira.

"Man, we should hurry and get these files into their archives so we can take a break." Adik tells his friend before putting the files into their respective shelves with haste.

"Yes yes." replied Akira as she took the files into the archives.

Some time after Akira and Adik have put all the documents into the archives room, they planned to take a break at the base's cafeteria. Suddenly, while the both were heading to the cafeteria, the announcement voice resounds the passageway.

"Intelligence Officer Akira Mimori and Geology Department Officer Adik Feldspar, please meet up with the Intelligence Head Officer Stephen at the conference room number A-05."

After the announcement, Adik becomes annoyed by the sudden meeting order.

"*sigh* For goodness's sake, we didn't take a break and now we've a meeting?" Adik said with annoyance. Akira slightly smiles and turns to Adik.

"Let's go, Adik. We shouldn't let Stephen wait for us too long." said Akira as she went down to the other side of corridor.

"Shut up, you cunning kitty." replied Adik as he follows his friend to the conference room.

After they arrived at the conference room A-05, the automatic door opens and Akira walked inside the room together with Adik. The both are met with Stephen who sitting at one of the seats as he welcomes them.

"You two're here at the right time. Take a seat first." said Stephen.

Akira and Adik then took their seats as Stephen told them.

"Is there anything for us to help, officer Ashford?" Adik asked Stephen with normal voice unlike when he talks to his friend Akira.

"The reason I called you both because I've the mission for you to accomplish." said Stephen as he opens the image projector and reveals an image of the certain planet.

"The federation's official authorities want to sent the volunteers to go on an expedition on the following planet. But based on the information gathered, the harsh planetary surface and climate made the authorities unable to sent normal Earthlings to the expedition." explained Stephen. "With these reasons, the federation's official authorities decide to enlist superhumans and Cases to the current expedition. Will you accept the mission?"

"Indeed. We'll take on the requested mission." Adik replied with integrity.

"Certainly." replied Akira.

"I appreciate your cooperation. However, this mission also has an another target, as well." Stephen tells the both.

"What could that be, sir?" asked Akira.

"That is the seek of the certain weapon, which is heavily related to Astrology." said Stephen.

"Astrology, huh?" Adik repeats Stephen's words.

"Correct, and that is the origin of the birth of Asterism of Laharos." Stephen explained the rest of the another target.

"Asterism of Laharos?" Akira asks with suspicion.

"It's the weapon created before Universe War I, no one knew who or what race created it, lest the certain race was used it in the war." Stephen spoke before giving the suspicion expression. "And what even the best scientists do not know is the weapon itself was known to have its own sentience."

"What the...? THAT thing have its own sentience?" Adik asks with surprise.

"I can't answer for sure, but it's known to be used in the war by shooting the asteroids to cause its debris fallen onto the targeted planet, and the friction occurred between asteroid's debris and the planet's atmosphere heats the rock up so much that they caused mass destruction to the targets." explained Stephen.

"Did the security and combat officers prepared any measures yet?" asked Akira.

"The federation and any allianced organizations give the same resolution that Asterism of Laharos must be destroyed several times. But with unknown reasons, the weapon can always mysteriously escaped from the destruction." answered Stephen.

"Strange, does it escaped because it knew that it was going to be destroyed?" Adik suspects of what he heard from Stephen.

"I don't know either, but if it's really true..." Akira thought of how the weapon escape before Stephen repeats their mission.

"So it's decided. Your missions are to explore the planet I mentioned before, and find the Asterism of Laharos before it will be used again." said Stephen. "The war might erupt again if it was used for a second time."

"Roger." Adik answers Stephen.

"Indeed." Akira answers Stephen.

After the reply, Akira and Adik then left the conference room. As they went off, the suspicion rises up into the thoughts of the both.

"That's very suspicious. How did such the dangerous weapon suddenly has its own sentience?" Akira said as she turns to look at her friend.

"I know what're you thinking, so don't ask me you little cat." said Adik as he looks at Akira.

"I'm not going to ask you, Adik. But I'm very suspicious about Asterism of Laharos more than ust to ask you, the weapon used in the interplanetary war is able to have its own sentience like that?" Akira said up with suspicion.

"There's no way, if it's the bioweapon then that's the other case. Bue I've made up one hypothesis." said Adik as he thought.

"What could it be?" asked Akira.

"I think that there's someone behind in controlling the Asterism of Laharos and trying to use it for one's own benefits by stirring up another Universe War, and has a certain planet as a target." Adik explained his hypothesis.

"That makes a lot of sense." Akira agreed with her friend.

"I don't think guessing this would help for now. Let's head to the departure zone." Adik tells Akira before he went to the corridor with the sign pointing where the departure zone lies. Akira then follows her friend to the departure zone in an instant.

At the departure zone, Akira and Adik were met by the mechanic who prepared the spaceship for them.

"I've prepared the spaceship for you. Please follow me." said the mechanic as he led the both into the interior of the spaceship.

As the both went inside, Akira is very surprised of what she saw in the spaceship with sparkling eyes.

"This is..."

"This is the Terrarise spaceship the official authorities prepared for you." said the mechanic.

"What about the destination and the spaceship's systems?" asked Adik.

"The system department members already perform the setups of the spaceship's supercomputer." replied the mechanic.

"Good, you can go now. Let's get ready, Akira." Adik tells Akira.

But the catgirl went to ask the mechanic a little question.

"How long the food and water resources last for?" Akira asks the mechanic.

"Based on the given mission time, the resources provided by cafeteria department are mostly last for 2 weeks." replied the mechanic.

"That might more than enough, thank you for the answer." Akira thanks the mechanic before the latter will went out from the spaceship as the former closes the airlock.

"Are we ready to depart, Adik?" Akira asks her friend.

"Yeah. Activate the system and depart from the base." said Adik.

Akira then activates the supercomputer of the Terrarise, and the system starts as she input her username into the computer to verify the passengers of the spaceship.

"Supercomputer PF-198 activated. Destination targeted at the planet Domiotania. No anomalies detected in the spaceship and nearby vicinity. Overall condition is at 100%. Please command the departing action with any method of command."

The supercomputer is waiting for the command of the members in the spaceship.

"Please depart from the base immediately, PF-198." Akira commands the supercomputer.

The system then processes the voice recognition before verifies her voice and starts up the spaceship's engines.

"Affirmative. Engines system activated at maximum level. Defense shields system activated at full defense power. Target destination locked at the planet Domiotania. Ready to depart in 3..."

As the system starts the engines and defense shields of the spaceship, Akira and Adik went to their positions to get ready for the departing to their destination.

"2..."

"Be prepared, Akira. We don't know what waited us there." Adik warns his friend.

"1..."

"You too, Adik." said Akira.

"0!"

After the countdown ends, the spaceship then takes off from the operation base of Intergalactic Federation at the speed of light before leaving the atmosphere of the planet Earth, as well as its orbit.

Inside Terrarise, Akira is looking around the control room of the spaceship with curiosity.

"We don't have to control the spaceship by ourselves? That's nice." said Akira.

"Yeah. The spaceship's supercomputer do all the work for us, and it'll do the things when we give it the commands. But we've no need to give it commands, because we'll reach at Domiotania sooner or later." Adik tells Akira.

Akira did not reply anything and instead take a seat at the side of the control room, looking outside the window to watch the stars.

"Beautiful..."

Akira comments as she was watching the ocean of stars.

"You go on watching the stars. I'll tell you once we're almost reach Domiotania." said Adik.

Upon hearing that, Akira decided to keep watching the stars. And some moments after, she decides to ask her friend something.

"By the way, Adik. May I ask you something?"

"What is it?" replied Adik.

"Why did officer Stephen sent me, who was an intelligent officer, and you, the geology department officer, to the expedition?" asked Akira.

"How the hell could I know, little cat?" Adik replied with annoyance.

After their short talk, the supercomputer system then announces throughout the spaceship.

"The spaceship is now in the orbit of Domiotania. Please prepare the supplies before the spaceship enters the planet's atmosphere."

"We're almost there." said Akira.

"Exactly. You go take your weapon and items. I'll go check landing coordinates first." Adik went to check the coordinates of the landing point of the spaceship as Akira went to get her belongings.

When Terrarise fully enters the orbit of Domiotania, the spaceship then launches into the atmosphere of the planet. After found the surface of the planet, the spaceship then slowly descends to land down and open the airlock, sending the down the stairs.

"We finally made it." Akira said as she walked down from the stairs and took out the matter detector to detect the matter in the planet's air.

"Do you detect anything in the air?" asked Adik as he walked from the stairs.

"There's no abnormalities or dangerous elements to the respiratory system." replied Akira.

"I thought it was going to be as officer Ashford told us. Where're we landed anyway?" Adik asked up before Akira looked around.

"Looks like we landed on the jungle somewhere of the planet." Akira answers with a smile, to Adik's annoyance.

"The hell? Whatever, let's go explore the jungle." said Adik as he went into the jungle with a beam rifle in hand, and Akira follows he friend with a beam pistol.

"It looks like the jungles on the planet Earth when we looked roughly." commented Adik as she looks around the environment in the jungle.

"You're right. I hope there's no anomaly around here." replied Akira.

"Hope? Don't make me laugh. Adventure has only what in store for us, you know." Adik speaks sarcasticly.

"Do you detect any abnormalities around here?" Akira asked as she found that her friend is using some kind of the device.

"No. The radar's still working fine." replied Adik as he checks the radar.

"Hmm..." Akira only answers quietly.

As the both keep exploring the jungle, they found the clusters of mushroom-like plants on the big tree's trunk glowing faintly.

"Are these... mushrooms?" Akira looks at the plant with curiosity.

"Yeah. At least they look like mushrooms of some sort." replied Adik.

"Then allow me to collect them as a sample for the researchers."

As Akira said, she reaches her hand to try to collect the plants. But suddenly Adik yells out at her.

"Don't, Akira!"

"Aah?!"

Akira instantly turns towards her friend, and the sudden call from Adik did give her goosebumps.

"Don't call me out of the blue like that! Goodness, I'm shocked..." said Akira.

"Don't use your hands to touch anything on this planet. We don't know what would happen if we touch them. Use the tool to collect them instead." Adik said before handing his friend a mushroom knife.

Without any hesitation, Akira cuts all the mushroom-like plant clusters on the tree's trunk to collect them.

"These should be more than enough for the researchers to research them, oops..."

As Akira is speaking, the plants sent out an unpleasent smell after being cut out from the tree's trunk.

"Put them inside the vacuum box, now!" said Adik as he takes the vacuum box out.

Akira then put the collected plants into the vacuum box before sealing it without wasting time.

"That was close." said Akira as she took respiration purifier and sprays it inside her nasal.

"How unexpected that they're able to spread their spores even being cut." commented Adik as he does the same as Akira.

"But the spores we inhaled, do they poisonous?" Akira asked her friend.

"Beats me. But we'd better put on the mask if we found these mushrooms again." said Adik.

"Good idea. I've prepared the masks for you." Akira tells Adik as she gives him the face masks.

"Let's continue the exploration. Be aware of the surroundings." said Adik before he leads the exploration.

"You too." Akira tells her friend as she follows him.

Akira and Adik continues the expedition in the jungle of the planet Domiotania, and they also collect plants of the planet as samples which they thought they may able to survive on the planet Earth in amidst of recovery along their path.

During the expedition deeper in the jungle, Akira stumbles to the thing that is oddly out of the place.

"Huh? What's this?" said Akira.

Adik, who was stuck in the exploration around the jungle, notices Akira found something and walks to her side.

"What's wrong?" asked Adik.

"Adik, look at here."

Akira said before pointing to the strange thing she found buried on the ground.

"A stone pillar? No, it looks like some kind of device." Adik commented as he investigates the thing his friend mentioned.

"It's like you mentioned, but I don't know if it still functioning. I think it must be very, very old." said Akira.

"It's so old like you said, it can't be functioned anyway." answered Adik.

"Don't you going to use the radar to scan it?" asked Akira.

After she asked, Adik then uses the radar to scan the strange object in order to collect data.

"We'll send the information about this thing to the researchers after the expedition. Let's go."

Adik tells his friend before they will continue their exploration. But suddenly, the core of the odd pillar began to shine brightly.

"What the hell?!" Adik surprised as he uses his hand to cover his eyes.

"Too... bright!" said Akira as she cover her eyes with her hand.

The light shone from the core for a while before fading away, much to the perplexion of the both.

"Did you done something to it?" Adik asked up instantly after his surprise.

"I swear I'm not." replied Akira, her face expresses the surprise from the unexpected event.

"I thought you did something to it. If there's nothing then keep going." said Adik before will start walking.

But Akira's cat ears suddenly heard some sounds, far away from their location greatly.

"Wait, Adik." Akira tells her friend to wait.

"What is it, Akira?" Adik replied back with the question.

"I hear something coming towards us... with speed!" said Akira as she focuses on listening the sounds from a distance.

The sound gradually became louder and louder, until the origin of the sound appears. That is a giant insect similar to the stag beetle on the planet Earth appeared from the depths of the jungle!

"W... What is that?!" said Akira as she encountered the entity.

"A stag beetle? No, its..." commented Adik, he cannot tell that the entity is a real insect or being similar to those of an insect.

Suddenly, the entity charges towards Akira in an attempt to use its horns to strike its prey.

"Look out!!"

Adik shouts as he pushed his friend out from the entity's way of attack, dodging its attack swiftly.

"Thank you." Akira thanks her friend.

But instead of taking her gratitude, Adik took out a beam rifle and shoots laser beams at the hostile entity.

"Don't thank me just yet! Get rid of it first!" said Adik as he is shooting at the entity.

Without waste of time, Akira uses her beam pistol to attack the entity togerther witht Adik. But their efforts are in vain, as the entity is unharmed from their attacks.

"Dammit! Our weapons have no effect to it!" said Adik as he still keep attacking the entity.

"It has the bioenergy shield! If this goes on, we're doomed!" said Akira. At that moment, her instincts give off the sense of fighting spirit unconsciously, leading her to throw away her beam pistol and took out her dagger.

"If the beam firearms have no effect..." said Akira as she rears her right arm back. "Then how about this?!"

Akira targets at the entity's front appendage and throws the dagger at the aimed point with full force of the Case, which strength much greater than the normal Earthlings... but suddenly on her chest glows brightly before reveals an Astral Symbol on the middle of Akira's chest.

The dagger she thrown with full force strikes at its appendage, causing it to stumble and crash at the tree heavily.

"Did that... work?!" Adik said with surprise as he found that the dagger Akira thrown to the entity is able to injure it.

"I think so..." Akira replied before pulling the thin yet durable rope tied with dagger's handle to retrieve her weapon back and collect her beam pistol throw away to the ground.

"Looks like they aren't completely invincible as they were." commented Adik. "If they're like this, we can do it."

As Adik tells his friend, he took out his scythe he carried on his back, readying for battle.

"You ready, Akira?" asked Adik.

"Certainly." Akira replied with confident.

In an instant, Akira throws her dagger to the another front appendage of the entity while it is trying to stand up, rendering it unable to stand as its front appendages were damaged. She then pulls the rope to retrieve her dagger.

"Akira!" Adik immediately calls her.

As Akira heard the call, she swiftly throws the dagger to the entity's head which severely injurres it and stops its brain's functions, before Adik dashes in and cuts off its head with his scythe. The entity is instantly killed by the both.

"We did it." Akira said as she walked to pull her dagger out from the entity's head and uses a cloth to rub off the liquid stuck on her weapon.

"Yeah. Seems like what officer Ashford told us isn't true at all. Perhaps because of the planet's atmosphere which makes the information reading from the other planets inaccurate?" Adik suspected.

"No idea. But this 'thing' won't going to move anymore. It won't be alive as its brain was directly damaged and being beheaded like that." said Akira as she looks at the beheaded entity.

"If it's still alive, we just only have to beat it up again." replied Adik.

Adik thoughtt for a little while before asking his friend.

"Hey Akira, do you've any idea of how we're able to damage that creature?"

"Eh, I'm not really sure of that. Perhaps it's because the Astrology inside me that made us able to attack it." answered Akira.

"Is that so..." Adik thought.

But his thoughts went short before he will continue asking.

"Let me ask seriously, did we really defeat that thing because your Astrology?"

"Possibly. If it really was Astrology from the Astral Symbols in my DNA, then there's a possibility for that." explained Akira. "I don't know that the other Cases with other animal genes as a prototype could be as same as me, but I'm the one who have that kind of power."

"...Alright, I'm not fully believe what you said. But I'll believe you for now." said Adik as he uses the radar to scan the remains of the creature.

"Adik, you want the researchers to research about this thing too?!" Akira asked with surprise.

"No, not now." replied Adik befoe he will ask his friend. "But how did it come here? I didn't hear its sounds at all."

"I think that lifeform may be able to move silently. But it's strange fo it to be similar to an insect yet able to move in that manner." said Akira.

"You're right... I can't believe that there could be something like this on the planet with the environment resembles to that of Earth in the past." Adik said with a little surprise.

Akira thought something up and suggests her idea to her friend.

"I think we should give the picture you scanned with the radar to someone to take a look, if there's really have intelligent beings lived on this planet."

"Good plan. Understood, Akira. I'll do as you suggested me." said Adik. "But first we must explore this forest, let's stay sharp and keep moving."

After Adik tells his friend, he then lead the path into the jungle.

"Roger."

Akira answers her friend before following him from behind, and the both then continue their expedition on the planet Domiotania, to seek for the clues about Asterism of Laharos which gone missing without trails.
