Chapter 25 - The Cosmic Tide's Judgment

Sora stood at the edge of the temple's grand entrance, the pulse's energy still reverberating through his body, filling the air with an electric hum. The ancient stones beneath his feet seemed to groan under the weight of the secrets they held. Behind him, the temple's vast hall remained silent, the once-glowing orb now dimmed, as if it, too, had come to a quiet understanding with Sora. The voice had faded, its warning still echoing in his mind. But his path forward was unclear, a shadow stretching out before him that he could neither ignore nor face without hesitation.

He looked up at the night sky, the stars twinkling faintly overhead. The pulse within him was alive, and it whispered a song he could almost hear, a melody that beckoned him forward—toward the unknown. The universe had spoken to him, but its words were not simple. They were riddles, laden with layers of meaning that only time and experience could unravel.

The temple's ruins stretched behind him, its ancient halls no longer a sanctuary, but a reminder of the powers he had awakened. Sora had learned much, but there was still so much more he didn't understand. What was the true purpose of the pulse? Was it a force for creation, or was it a weapon that could unravel existence itself? Could he even trust the voice that had warned him? Or was it another trick of the universe, meant to test him?

As Sora turned to leave, he noticed something—or rather, someone—waiting for him just outside the entrance. A figure cloaked in darkness, its form indistinct but unmistakable. The figure stood motionless, as though it had been waiting for him, as though it had always known he would come.

At the sight of the figure, Sora's pulse quickened. He instinctively reached for the energy inside him, feeling the rhythm of the pulse flare to life in his chest. But the figure raised a hand, and for a brief moment, everything around them seemed to still.

*"You've come a long way, Sora,"* the figure's voice was soft but filled with an undeniable weight. It echoed in his mind, carrying with it a depth that suggested knowledge beyond time. *"But your journey has only just begun."*

Sora stood still, his heart pounding. There was something about this presence that was both familiar and alien. He felt the pulse within him surge, responding to the figure's words, yet there was a distinct sense of danger. He couldn't quite place it, but he knew one thing—this was no ordinary being.

*"Who are you?"* Sora asked, his voice steady despite the rising tension in his chest. *"And what do you want?"*

The figure chuckled softly, and the sound felt like the grinding of distant, forgotten gears. *"I am a witness,"* it replied cryptically. *"A keeper of the truths that lie beyond the veil of reality. I have seen the rise and fall of empires, the birth and death of stars, and the unraveling of worlds. I have seen you, Sora. I have seen the pulse choose you."*

Sora's grip on his energy tightened. The figure's words resonated with a truth he hadn't yet fully understood. *"You know about the pulse?"* he asked, his voice low, almost as a whisper.

*"I know everything about it,"* the figure responded, its voice echoing with a strange finality. *"The pulse is not just a force of creation, nor is it a simple weapon. It is the foundation of all things. It is the heart of the cosmos, and without it, there is no life, no death, no meaning. You are not its master, Sora. You are its heir."*

The words sent a chill through him, and the rhythm of the pulse inside him throbbed in response, as if affirming the figure's statement. Sora felt the weight of those words settle heavily on his chest. He was its heir. What did that mean? Could he truly be the one to shape the pulse's destiny? Or was he merely another pawn in the grand design?

*"What does it want with me?"* Sora asked, his voice steady despite the confusion swirling within him. *"What am I supposed to do with this power?"*

The figure stepped forward, its form still unclear but its presence undeniable. *"You are the only one who can choose, Sora. The pulse has chosen you, but it will not shape your destiny for you. It will offer you paths, but the choices will be yours to make. There is a war coming, a war that will shatter the balance of everything you know. The Keepers are not the only ones after the pulse. There are others—forces older and more dangerous, beings who seek to harness the pulse for their own ends. The fate of the universe depends on whether or not you can control it."*

Sora's thoughts swirled as the figure's words sank in. Forces older than the Keepers? What could be more powerful than the beings who had sought to control the pulse for millennia? He felt the weight of responsibility pressing down on him, a burden that was both terrifying and invigorating.

*"And if I fail?"* Sora asked, his voice barely a whisper.

The figure's expression softened, though it was hard to tell with its shadowy form. *"Failure is not an option, Sora. Not for you."*

The words were both comforting and ominous. The figure turned, its form beginning to fade into the darkness, as though it were an apparition that had never truly existed. But before it disappeared completely, it spoke once more.

*"Remember, the pulse is not only a weapon. It is a choice. Your choices will decide whether the universe remains as it is, or whether it is torn apart."*

With that, the figure was gone. The silence returned, thick and heavy, pressing against Sora's chest. He stood there for a long moment, staring at the spot where the figure had been, the words lingering in his mind.

The pulse inside him was still thrumming, its rhythm stronger than ever, as though it were aware of the cosmic struggle to come. Sora's destiny had been shaped by forces beyond his comprehension, but now, more than ever, he felt the weight of it pressing down on him. He was not just a vessel of power. He was the heir to something much older, something more dangerous than he had ever realized.

But with that power came responsibility. And with responsibility came the most difficult of questions—what would he do with it?

Sora took a deep breath, feeling the pulse within him steady, even as the uncertainty of what lay ahead began to rise in his mind. There was no going back. The universe was at a crossroads, and he was standing in the center of it all. Whether he would become its savior or its destroyer was yet to be seen.

As he turned to leave the temple grounds, the weight of his choices hung in the air, a constant reminder that the journey he had started had no simple answers, no easy paths.

The tide of the cosmos was shifting. And Sora was standing at its edge, waiting for the next wave to crash upon him.
