"My lord! My lord!"
Yorick turned to see his top minion, Maurice, huffing and puffing as he hurried through the cemetery over to him. Maurice slowed to a stop and took a moment to catch his breath.
"My lord," he finally spat out. "Your headhunter has been slain."
"What? Thresh? When?"
"A little over an hour ago. I was only spared by his executioners to relay a message: The Triad is coming for Yorick the Forgemaster."
Yorick gripped his shovel tighter, but restrained himself from decapitating Maurice with it upon hearing those words. One is never to kill a messenger. He couldn't react to this situation. He had to act. If the Triad truly wanted to go to war with him, they were making a serious mistake. Still, they'd managed to kill his legendary headhunter. They weren't children.
"Tell my enforcers to prepare themselves for war. Those two misfits have been begging me for something they could 'blow up'."
Maurice saluted and declared, "Right away, my lord!"
Watching the lone minion march away, Yorick listened as the souls of the damned whispered to him.
"The Triad wants you dead, Yorick..."
"All they will get is turned into ghouls to carry out my bidding. But my enforcers may not be enough. I need to recruit a new headhunter, and visit an old friend."
