Katleho Motaung was a beggar like all the other kids. He lied waiting for an opportunity until some poor bloke bought the begging act and decided to give to the needy. Yes, begging is an art ,it looks simple until you people never feel any pity for you, in short you have to perform, buy into the people's emotions and make them feel like this could be your last meal. There are multiple ways in which one can do this, firstly lose a limb, well not really losing a limb but not showing that you do not have the said limb. Number two would be making people feel uncomfortable, when people see unwashed bodies, particularly an unwashed face they are bound to feel uneasy, chances are, two in five will buy into the ruse and hand out something. Number three, of course this is Kat's favourite, which is to approach the stranger and this of course required courage since unwashed bodies do not inspire much confidence, now the trick here is to not just appeal to the emotions but divine intervention. People feel good when they believe they are doing God's work yet God punishes those who use his name in vain but Kat was still a kid so he was cool with God and believe you me, he meant no offense.One day Kat applied his favourite method yet the said method failed badly so much so that Kat had misgivings about even trying that method again. The day after he had entered what had seemed like the valley of the shadow of death where said methods or any method whatsoever will not buy you pity but a stab in the gut and it is like that Katleho departed this cruel world.
