Chapter 10: Bonds And Reveals!? Return of the xyz Remnants P2

In the dark room

Declan Akaba sat in his dimly lit office; eyes locked on the live feed of the duel. His mother right beside him and his workers below. On the screen in front of everyone, Kai and Yuto's battle raged on, their strategies clashing with a ferocity that made it clear this wasn't just a normal duel. Declan's brow furrowed as he observed Kai's every move, his mind calculating.

"Kai," he muttered, leaning slightly forward. "Yuto's style speaks of survival, but Kai... his determination is different. It's personal. That level of focus. It's obvious he has been in a situation like this where his life is on the line."

The intensity of Yuto's dragon was forcing Kai back, but he seemed to be handling it well. One thing was for sure, he was impressed by Kai's rapid growth as a duellist. Declan could tell that his battle with him, has made Kai stronger. for a moment however, Declan thought he saw hesitation in Kai's eyes—something rare for a duellist with Kai's confidence. 'It seems Kai is hesitating because he doesn't want Yuto to think he is from the fusion dimension.' Its seemed Yuto had convinced him though and Kai had won with his light and darkness dragonlord.

Declan's fingers tapped lightly against his arm as he watched Kai comfort Yuto. Kai's words weren't just a comfort to Yuto—they were a revelation of Kai's own character. "For someone like him, who wields the power of anger and vengeance in his duelling, to speak of standing for what's right... fascinating."

He straightened, his sharp gaze unwavering. "Kai and Yuto are both driven by their losses, but if what Kai said is true, then he may have already taken the first step toward something greater—something even I didn't predict."

Then, the cloaked figure stepped into view, cloaked in black, and the atmosphere of the duel shifted.

Declan's gaze sharpened as the mysterious duellist pulled back his hood, revealing wild black hair streaked with red and piercing crimson eyes. His voice rang out across the battlefield, calm yet commanding.

"I am Yuma Tsukumo, Protector of the Numbers. And I won't let anyone abuse their power."

Declan's eyes narrowed. "Yuma Tsukumo…Numbers…?" The screen zoomed in on Kai's expression, and Declan caught it—a flicker of fear in Kai's eyes. Kai, the duellist who had faced him without flinching, was unsettled by this Yuma.

"Interesting," Declan said softly. "This Yuma isn't just powerful. He's someone who can shake even Kai's confidence." As their talk heated up, Declan continued to watch, his mind racing. "The Numbers... Yuma... and Kai. These pieces are falling into place for a reason. Whatever power Yuma wields, it's clear he's more than just a duellist. And if he can rattle Kai, I need to know more."

Declan leaned back in his chair; his expression unreadable as the duel reached its climax. "Kai, Yuto, and now Yuma. This isn't just coincidence. Something much bigger is at play here, and I intend to find out what it is." Julia had run away when the two people disappeared due to the light, but Declan didn't pay attention to it. His mind still focused on Yuma and Kai.

"What do you think Declan." Said the pink haired chairwomen as she moved her attention from the screen to her son.

"We need answers. Those two are obviously from the xyz dimension but their intentions are unknown. One thing is for certain though, they are definitely enemies of Duel Academy, and an enemy of our enemy is our friend." Said Declan, staring into space as he talked. His expression suddenly changed. "Kai, however, is an unknown variable. We don't know where exactly he is from and whether he is really an enemy or an ally."

"So, what do you suggest we do?"

"Nothing for now, tomorrow though, we are going to have a little chat with Kai Akimoto."

In an unknown place

Yuma stood at the edge of the bridge, staring down at the crashing waves below. Everything about this dimension felt like a cruel joke. The calm, peaceful citizens, the perfectly intact buildings, the endless expanse of water—it was the exact opposite of his shattered home. It was as if this place was mocking everything he had lost.

His hand slammed against the metal railing, the sound echoing into the stillness. He clenched his teeth, his fiery eyes burning with rage and determination. "Kai Akimoto," he hissed. "I don't know how you managed to escape me, but I swear, the next time we meet, I'll destroy you."

As the words left his lips, a faint glow caught his attention. He looked down to see a card in his deck pouch shining brightly. Pulling it out, he held it up to the light. The familiar image of Number 39: Utopia stared back at him, its glow pulsating as if sharing his resolve.

"Don't worry, Utopia," Yuma said, his voice steady with conviction. "Once we take down Kai, Duel Academy is next. We'll make sure nothing ever threatens you or your friends again."

The card's light grew stronger for a brief moment, as if answering his promise. Yuma turned back toward the horizon, his grip on the card tightening. The path ahead was uncertain, but his determination was unshakable. This was his fight, and he wouldn't stop until justice was served.

Next Morning (Yuya's House)

An awkward silence filled the kitchen as Yuya, Yoko, and Sora watched me sprawled dramatically across the kitchen table like I'd just lost a duel to destiny itself. "Mmmnnn…" I groaned, dragging out the sound like a tragic soap opera star. My moans of despair hung in the air, heavy with theatrics. The three spectators sweat-dropped.

"What's up with him?" Yuya finally broke the silence, scratching his head in confusion.

"Yuzu dumped him," Sora said with a grin, casually tossing his hands behind his head like he wasn't about to burst out laughing.

"Sora!" Yoko scolded, her hands on her hips. "This is Kai's first heartbreak! Show some sensitivity!"

"Sensitivity?" Sora snorted, already laughing. "You mean to the guy who got dumped after one day? When did they even start going out?" He doubled over, smirking at Yuya. "Yesterday! That's why they were out so late. Kissing and—wait for it—doing the naughty!" He added exaggerated kissing noises for effect, leaning closer to me with every obnoxious smack of his lips.

That was it. Grabbing the nearest plastic wrap, I chucked it at his head with all the force of a man wronged by love. "Back off!" I yelled, but Sora ducked effortlessly, still laughing as he mimicked more smooches in my direction. His unrelenting giggles filled the room while Yoko sighed heavily.

"When did I end up with three kids instead of one?" she muttered under her breath, shaking her head at the chaos.

I flopped back onto the table with all the grace of a dying fish, my head thudding against the wood. Looking at Yuya, I summoned the last shred of my dignity—or so I thought. "We're not a couple!" I whined dramatically. "I was supposed to teach Yuzu today, but… but…" I sniffled, fake tears pooling in my eyes. "My little apprentice canceled on me!!" I wailed, rolling back and forth on the table like a toddler denied candy.

Yuya blinked at me, clearly torn between concern and second-hand embarrassment. Meanwhile, Sora was back to laughing so hard he had to hold his stomach.

"Oh, come on," Sora teased, wiping away a tear from laughing too hard. "You're acting like you just lost your entire deck in a Shadow Game!"

"Of course, I'm upset!" I groaned, flopping flat onto the table again. "After what happened yesterday, who wouldn't be? She's probably afraid I'll scar her for life!"

As my fake sobs echoed through the kitchen, Yoko handed Yuya a mop and nodded at me. "Your turn to deal with him," she said with a tired smile.

"Still though." Sora sat up with a serious expression as Yuya and I looked at him, confused at the sudden change of emotions. "What does yesterday's events got to do with u tutoring her." Sora said thoughtfully. Fortunately for me, Yuya and Sora missed the quick flash of expressions on my face as I remembered yesterdays event. 'I can't say I'm surprised, after all I got two dangerous people after me accusing me of basically killing their friends. Who would be wary of me, especially when I gave no explanation as to what was going on.'

"Maybe she's afraid you'll pull some cheesy move on her in the middle of the street while she's practicing!" Sora howled, clutching his stomach as he doubled over in laughter. "She probably thinks you're some dirty dog and buddies with those creeps from last night!"

My eye twitched. That was it. "I'm going to kill you," I growled, leaping from my seat like a man possessed. Sora yelped and bolted, weaving around the kitchen table as I chased him down, my anger fueling my every step.

"Hey! I'm too young and handsome to die!" Sora shouted, ducking a swing of my hand. He grabbed a chair as a makeshift shield, laughing all the while.

Unfortunately, our chaos was short-lived. Yoko appeared in the doorway, her presence like a divine judge descending upon us. "ENOUGH!!!" she roared, her voice so sharp it could cut through steel.

It all happened so fast. One second, I was mid-chase, ready to throttle Sora. The next, both of us were sprawled out on the floor, matching lumps on our heads courtesy of Yoko's legendary frying pan. My pride wasn't the only thing bruised.

Moments later, Sora and I found ourselves kneeling on the floor like misbehaving toddlers, heads bowed before the furious glare of Yoko. Her arms were crossed, and she looked like she was seconds away from summoning a second frying pan.

"You two are acting like absolute children!" she scolded, her eyes narrowing. "I've had enough of this constant nonsense. Get out! Both of you! I don't want to see either of you back here until you've learned how to behave—or until dinner time, whichever comes first."

"Yes, ma'am!" Sora and I said in perfect unison, our voices meek and trembling like two kids who'd just been sent to the principal's office.

As we shuffled toward the door with our heads still hanging low, I couldn't help but glance back at the kitchen one last time. Little did Yoko know; this would be the last time one of us would return to her home for a very long time.

On the streets

"Man, I can't believe we got kicked out." I said with my hands behind my back, like a kid who just got out of detention.

"Yeah, that women can be so scary." Said Sora, beside me. He seemed to be visibly shaking from the memory.

"But hot." I said with a smirk.

"Damn right." Responded Sora, smirking along with me.

"So, what now?" I asked. I looked around seeing if there was anything around me that could quench my boredom.

"Well lucky for us," Sora started as he looked at his non-existent watch. "We where kicked out just in time to make it to my first duel."

"First duel?" I said, turning my head to look at Sora in confusion.

"Yeah. It's for the Miami Championships coming up. Yuya was able to hook me up with this awesome weird guy that's lining up six chumps, to lose to me so I can enter." Explained Sora with a smirk.

"Aaah, I see. Do you know your opponent?"

"Not a clue, but he isn't going to stop me from getting into this tournament you, Yuya and Yuzu are entering. I got three opponents back to back today, so he is going to be the first to get a beating from my fluffal bears." Sora punched his arm with determination engraved on his face. I looked at him and smiled. Sora had really become one of is best friends. I admit I had my doubts about the kid and even suspected him being from duel academy, but here he was, trying his hardest to get into a tournament for his friends.

"Well, I got a goal of getting the 60% mark. I've been beating up duellists left and right since my duel with Declan."

"Wow really, that sounds much more fun then what I'm doing. How much u got now?"

"About 46%." I answered.

"Let's see so you need about… uuuuhhh…" Sora tried calculating how much more wins I needed like it was the hardest math question of his life. Defeated, he said "where is Tate when u need him." Sora and I laughed.

"Come to think of it, I haven't seen those kids in a while." I said

"Me neither, we kind of been skipping classes ever since that duel with the Leo institute. Thinking of You Show, we have class later today, you going?" asked Sora.

"Meh I don't know. What about you?"

"Depends on if I feel like it." Sora answered nonchalantly before turning towards a certain building. "We have arrived." We stared at the funny looking building as I sweat dropped. "You sure this is the place;" I asked as we started at the Colosseum looking building.

"Of course I am!" Sora shouted, his usual energy lighting up the room. But then he paused, his expression softening as a thought crossed his mind. "You know, I just realized something," he said, a genuine smile spreading across his face. "The Miami Championships might be my first duel against you."

I looked at him, and for a moment, the excitement in his eyes was contagious. I couldn't help but smile back. "Yeah," I said, nodding. "It's going to be an amazing duel."

Sora's grin widened, and he puffed out his chest. "Hahaha, yeah! But let's be real—I'm totally going to win."

I laughed, shaking my head. "You wish, Sora. I'm going to mop the floor with you and your silly bears."

Sora gasped, clutching his chest like I'd just insulted his entire family. "Hey! Take that back!" he whined, his cheeks puffing out in mock offense. "My bears aren't silly—they're awesome! And you're going to find out the hard way!"

I chuckled, ruffling his hair playfully. "Alright, alright. Your bears are awesome. But that doesn't mean I'm going to let you win."

Sora swatted my hand away, a playful pout on his face. "You better not go easy on me! If I'm going to beat you, it's going to be fair and square."

For a moment, we just stood there, grinning at each other like kids sharing a secret. The thought of duelling each other, not as rivals but as friends, made my heart feel lighter. Whatever happens at the championships, I knew it would be a duel to remember.

5 hours later

"Hahaha! Man, Sora!" I choked out between fits of laughter, nearly doubling over. "That guy—ha—oh, you absolutely humbled him! Ha-ha-ha!"

Sora grinned, throwing his arms behind his head like a champion basking in glory. "What can I say? I'm a man of many talents." That was it—both of us burst into another fit of uncontrollable laughter, tears streaming down our faces as we tried to catch our breath.

"That was probably the most interesting duel today," I said, finally managing to calm down.

"You think so?" Sora asked, a smug grin tugging at his lips. "Mine was the one against that singer."

"Oh yeah!" I exclaimed, the memory hitting me like a truck. "HAHAHA! Did you seriously sing out your final attack? Dude, you schooled him at his own game!" I clutched my stomach, trying to hold back another wave of laughter.

"Of course I did!" Sora said, his chest puffed out with pride. "The singing was just the cherry on top of that epic duel. One more win tomorrow, and it's official—the Miami Championships, here I come!"

I clapped him on the back, grinning from ear to ear. "Proud of you, man."

The room fell quiet for a moment, but it wasn't awkward. It was the kind of silence shared between friends who knew they were on the cusp of something great. Sora was on fire, and I couldn't wait to see him crush it in the championships.

"So, what you wanna do? You Show should still be open now." Asked Sora.

"Meh, I don't really feel like ruining this fun day just go to class and hear Shuzo yap about stuff we already know." I answered with an annoyed look. "Why don't we go to the park and look for some duels to until it's time for dinner."

"Yeah sure, that doesn't sound to bad." Sora said as we walked down the street in the direction of the park. "By the way Kai, you never really explained much about what happened yesterday." Thankfully, Sora didn't see the slight flinch I did when he mentioned yesterday.

"Well, Yuzu and I were in the middle of training when these two random, crazy people just appeared out of nowhere and demanded a duel. They said something about being from a place called Duel Academy, and that they were hurting their friends and family all because I Fusion Summoned. It was... honestly, it was pretty insane. But I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just... be careful when you're out, okay, Sora?"

As I finished speaking, it hit me that I'd completely forgotten Sora was a Fusion duellist too. I hadn't even considered that those same people might come after him as well. I mean, I suspected he might be from there too, and now that I thought about it... how would those Xyz remnants react if they saw him? I was too busy feeling like an idiot for not realizing this earlier, lost in my own thoughts, that I hadn't even noticed the change in Sora's mood.

There was something different in the air—something unsettling, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I was still too caught up in my own blunder to realize what was going on with him.

"What kind of duellists were they?" Sora asked, snapping me out of my thoughts. He seemed eager to get a sense of what we were up against.

I took a moment to consider, then replied, "Yuto's a good duellist. He uses a Phantom Knights deck, and it's built around quick summons and a lot of disruption. He's got a lot of control with his Trap Cards, and he's not afraid to go all in with Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon for a heavy hitter. If you're not careful, he'll overwhelm you with his plays, and he can wipe out your monsters with ease if he gets his combos going."

I looked over at Sora, knowing he'd need to be prepared. "Don't let his calm demeanour fool you—Yuto's the type who'll bait you into making a mistake and then capitalize on it."

I gave Sora a look, making sure he understood. "I don't know about the other guy but I know he is definitely a xyz duellists and is a very dangerous, in fact both of them are dangerous in their own way. You'll need to keep your guard up. But if you don't let them, get the upper hand, you'll have a fighting chance." Unfortunately, I hadn't known that this would end up being the worst mistake I would ever end up making.

My phone suddenly started ringing as we drew closer to the park.

"Hello?"

"Hello Kai, this is Declan. I hope I'm not interrupting anything." The voice on the other end was calm and confident.

"Declan! How did you even get my phone number?" I blurted out in surprise. Sora didn't even glance at me as we continued walking.

"Don't worry about that, the important thing is I need to talk to you."

"Right now? I'm kind of busy, can't we do this another time?" I groaned, not wanting to be sidetracked.

"Unfortunately, this is of the utmost importance. It cannot wait."

"Tch," I muttered in frustration.

"Don't worry, Kai. You should go. It sounds important," Sora said, his voice sounding unusually reassuring.

I looked at him, but he was facing forward, not even acknowledging the conversation. "You sure I should go?"

"Yeah, don't worry. I'll be fine here," he replied without a second thought.

I sighed, running a hand through my hair. "Fine, Declan, but this better be important." I ended the call and looked at Sora. "If I don't come back before dinner, just go without me, okay?"

"Okay." He gave me a quick nod.

I smiled at him before running off in the direction of the Leo Institute. What I didn't realize, though, was that I hadn't once looked directly at Sora's face since mentioning the XYZ duo. If I had, I might have noticed the wicked, dark smirk creeping across his lips.

"Hey." Sora's voice now held a chilling edge, far removed from the friendly tone he always used.

standing there, were two duellists in blue outfits beside him, their expressions just as eager. The clothing they wore looked similar to school uniforms, but something about their posture and the way they stood made them seem like they were ready for something far more sinister.

Sora's grin widened. "Prepare yourselves. We're going hunting."

The three of them looked at each other, their faces twisted with excitement—hunger, even—as they waited for the fun to begin.

Leo Institute

The moment I stepped into the Leo Institute lobby, the gleam of the polished floors nearly blinded me. Everything looked exactly the same as my last visit with Sylvio, Yuya, and Yuzu—down to the annoyingly pristine walls. If anything, it felt even more obnoxiously clean this time. I sighed, adjusting the strap of my duel disk as a chipper receptionist waved me over.

"Welcome back to the Leo Institute!" she greeted me, her cheerfulness borderline grating. "Are you here for another tour?"

"Not exactly," I muttered, scratching the back of my neck. "Declan Akaba called me here. Something about a 'conversation.'"

Her smile didn't falter—not even a bit. She simply nodded and gestured toward the elevator. "Mr. Akaba has been expecting you. Top floor, please!"

Great. Just what I needed. I grumbled under my breath as I stepped into the elevator. "Why does he even want to talk to me? I've got better things to do than entertain some billionaire genius who probably thinks he can drag me into his plans."

The elevator hummed softly as it climbed, leaving me alone with my thoughts. My last visit replayed in my head like an unwelcome rerun. Declan had been as composed and mysterious as always, his whole "I know everything" attitude making my patience wear thin. Still, I couldn't shake the fact that he did seem to know things no one else did the question was, just how much did he know?

The doors slid open with a quiet ding, and there he was, waiting in his sleek office like he'd timed it perfectly. He stood by the window, the city skyline framing him like some kind of painting. That faint smile on his face was already starting to irritate me.

"Kai," he greeted warmly, turning to face me. "Thank you for coming."

I crossed my arms and leaned casually against the doorway. "Didn't really have a choice, did I? You're not exactly subtle when you want someone's attention."

He chuckled softly, like my sarcasm amused him. "I've found that directness saves time. Come in. We have much to discuss."

Reluctantly, I stepped into the office, my eyes drifting to the massive windows that overlooked the city. The view was impressive, sure, but I wasn't here for sightseeing. "Alright, Akaba," I said, my tone sharp. "What's so important that you had to pull me away from my day? And before you ask—no, I'm not joining any secret clubs or teams."

Declan's smile widened slightly, that glint of amusement still in his eyes. "I'm not here to recruit you, Kai." Then, just like that, his expression shifted. The warmth drained from his face, replaced by something colder, more calculating.

"I just think it's time we had a chat," he said, his voice cool and deliberate.

I turned my attention to behind me as I heard the door suddenly open. Coming out, was the chairwomen along with a young boy with a blue hoody. "Whose the kid?" I asked.

"That would be my younger sister, Riley?" Declan didn't even evert his gaze as he looked directly at my face, almost like he was studying me, trying to understand me or something. As for me, my eyes widened hearing this. 'Since when did Leo Akaba get a daughter?' I thought.

"If your wondering if that Leo Akaba, my father's daughter than your wrong. She is adopted." Spoke Declan as he closed his eyes.

"You said you wanted to have a talk so talk." I said harshly as I was starting to lose my patience.

A bright screen lit up the room behind Declan, casting sharp shadows across his focused expression. Without a word, two figures stepped into the room—his mother and his sister—taking seats silently to my right. My eyes flicked toward them briefly, but Declan's voice brought my attention back.

"About a month ago, you appeared in this dimension in a bright flash of light," he began. The screen shifted, displaying grainy footage of me emerging from the light, disoriented yet determined. "You immediately crossed paths with Yuya Sakaki and followed him here, to the Leo Institute, where you duelled Sylvio Sawatari."

The footage shifted, showing Sylvio's cocky entrance alongside Yuya and the You Show gang, then me trailing behind. It jumped to our duel, the final moments where Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon and Meteor Black Comet Dragon sealed Sylvio's defeat.

"After that, you grew close to the You Show gang, particularly Yuya." The footage changed again—this time to Yuya's home. There I was, laughing and enjoying dinner with Yuya, Sora, and Yoko. The warmth and joy on everyone's faces felt almost out of place compared to the cold, clinical atmosphere of the room now.

I couldn't help but smile slightly at the memory, but Declan's voice brought me back. "Then, once you had gained Yuya's trust, you began searching for me."

The screen changed again, this time showing my duel with Julia, focusing on the aftermath where I interrogated her. My smirk from that moment was a stark contrast to the tension hanging in the room now.

"And finally, most recently," Declan continued, his tone dropping slightly, "you encountered two individuals—'XYZ remnants,' as you called them. They accused you of being from Duel Academy."

The room fell silent as the footage froze on the moment, I uttered those words. The term felt heavier now, reverberating off the walls.

I cleaned out my ears lazily, leaning back in my chair. "So what?"

Declan's hands slammed down on the table, the sound sharp and commanding. His eyes, cold and calculating, locked onto mine. "I will only ask you this once: Are you from the Fusion Dimension?"

The room felt like it was holding its breath, waiting for my answer. I met Declan's piercing gaze with my own and smirked. "Yes. I am."

The moment the words left my mouth, the door swung open violently. Security guards flooded the room, their duel disks already active and pointed in my direction. The air felt heavy with the threat of combat.

Declan straightened, his gaze never leaving mine as his voice turned even colder. "Very well. Let me rephrase my question: Are you from Duel Academy?"

I didn't flinch, ignoring the glares and the suffocating presence of the guards. With the same smirk, I answered. "I was."

The room erupted into murmurs, but my gaze stayed locked on Declan's. The game had changed, and now, all eyes were on me.

In a dark abandoned building

Yuto and Shay stood silently in the darkened room. The air was thick with tension, and Yuto could feel the weight of Shay's anger as the taller man trembled, his fists clenched tightly at his sides.

"We have to find him and take him down!" Shay bellowed, his voice echoing through the empty space.

"Shay, calm down," Yuto said gently, trying to keep his tone measured. He didn't want to stoke Shay's fury any further. "Kai isn't the enemy."

Shay turned to him sharply, his eyes blazing. "What are you talking about, Yuto? He's from the Fusion Dimension—he has to be! The only people who know about Duel Academy are from there or the XYZ Dimension. And he's clearly not one of us."

"I know," Yuto admitted, his voice quieter. "But—"

"Shay's right," came a voice from the shadows, cutting Yuto off.

Both turned, as Yuma stepped into the dim light. His expression was serious, his usual energy replaced by a quiet intensity. He had just returned from one of his so-called "self-reflection trips," but there was nothing reflective about the fire in his eyes now.

"Sensei," Yuto said, startled.

Yuma walked up to him, placing a firm hand on Yuto's shoulder and looking him directly in the eyes. "Kai is the enemy, Yuto," Yuma said, his voice steady but laced with a simmering anger. "He Fusion Summons, and he knows about Duel Academy. What more proof do you need? Don't you remember what his kind did to us?"

Yuto's eyes dropped to the floor, and Yuma continued, his voice growing more forceful. "Shay is right. We have to hunt him down and take him out. Kai has the information we need, and if we want to find Lulu, he's the one standing in our way. We can't afford to hesitate."

Shay's fists unclenched slightly, the rage in his eyes tempered by a renewed determination. Yuma's words hung in the air, heavy with purpose, leaving no room for doubt or debate.

"Our goal is clear," Yuma said, stepping back to address them both. "We find Kai, we defeat him, and we make him tell us everything he knows. That's the only way forward."

Yuto hesitated but nodded reluctantly. Deep down, he still felt uncertain, but the conviction in Yuma and Shay's eyes left little room for protest.

"Sorry but you aren't hunting down anyone." Came an unknown voice. The voice was cheerful but held a tone of malice in the air. They could all feel malicious intents as the three whipped there heads to the door. Standing there, stood three people. The three xyz remnants stood there wide eyed as they stared at the intruders.

Sora stood confidently in the doorway, flanked by two towering figures clad in the iconic uniforms of Obelisk Blue. The bright light from the hallway cast their shadows dramatically across the room, adding an air of tension and authority to their presence.

Sora's signature smirk was in place, his mischievous blue eyes glinting as he crossed his arms casually. He wore his usual attire—a sleeveless black shirt paired with a white and blue overcoat, the flared tails of which swayed slightly as he leaned against the frame. His blue spiky hair caught the glow of the light, almost appearing like a sharp crown against the Obelisk Blues' polished uniforms.

The Obelisk Blue duelists beside him exuded an intimidating aura. Each wore a pristine blue blazer with white accents, the school's emblem embroidered proudly on their chest. Their crisp, high-collared coats gave them an air of authority, the edges lined with silver that gleamed faintly in the light. They wore matching white gloves, symbolizing their elite status, and their duel disks rested at their sides, polished and ready for action.

The light behind them seemed to intensify, casting their silhouettes forward like an advancing wall of power. Sora tilted his head slightly, his smirk growing twisted with each passing minute. "What's the matter?" he teased, his voice light but laced with challenge. "Not ready for a little company?"

The Obelisk Blues stood silent, their stances firm and unyielding, as though daring anyone to test their resolve. Together with Sora's playful yet confident demeanour, the scene radiated a mix of tension and anticipation.

"DUEL ACADEMY!" Shay's voice thundered through the room, his face twisted in pure rage. His fists clenched as he glared at the intruders, his eyes promising pain. "What is scum like you doing here? Did Kai send you?"

Sora chuckled, stepping forward with a smug grin. "Kai didn't send me anywhere," he said, his voice dripping with mockery. "I came here all on my own. And as for why we're here... well, we heard there were some XYZ escapees hiding out, clinging to their pitiful lives. So, we thought we'd clean up the mess."

His laughter echoed through the room, sharp and taunting. Despite his small stature, Sora carried himself like a predator who had already cornered his prey. His eyes scanned the room, looking down on them like they were nothing more than trash waiting to be disposed of.

Shay stepped forward, his voice filled with determination. "Fine. If that's how you want to play, let's—"

"No." Yuma's voice cut through the tension like a blade. He stepped past Shay with a calm, unwavering expression that immediately caught everyone's attention. His steady gaze locked onto Sora and his companions, and his presence carried a quiet authority that unsettled even the most confident.

Sora frowned, the grin slipping from his face. There was something about this newcomer—something he didn't like. "And who are you supposed to be?" he asked, his tone laced with scepticism.

Yuma's lips curled into a faint smile as he raised his duel disk. "I'm the Protector of the Numbers," he declared, his voice firm and resolute. "The one who keeps the past, present, and future in balance. And I am the one who will be your demise."

He activated his duel disk, the sound sharp and commanding as the holographic field sprang to life. "Come at me together, if you'd like. I won't even break a sweat."

Sora's frown deepened, but his grin quickly returned, sharper than before. "Big words," he said, stepping forward. "Let's see if you can back them up."

Back at Leo Institute

I stood still in the center of the room, surrounded by guards with their duel disks primed and ready. The tension in the air was suffocating as he and Declan locked eyes, neither flinching. The Madam Chairwoman sat silently nearby, her young daughter pressed close to her side, watching the scene unfold with wide, curious eyes.

Declan's sharp gaze bore into mine as he spoke, his tone calm but edged with intrigue. "What do you mean you were?"

i smirked, the expression etched onto my face as if it were a permanent feature. "Exactly what I said. I dropped out of Duel Academy."

Declan tilted his head slightly, curiosity flickering in his otherwise stoic expression. "I wasn't aware the Professor allowed people to leave so easily."

i chuckled mockingly, my eyes gleaming with amusement. "You're right. He doesn't. But I think you're misunderstanding me. The Duel Academy I attended wasn't the one you all know and despise."

Confusion rippled through the room. The guards shifted slightly, exchanging uncertain glances, while Declan's eyes narrowed, his sharp mind clearly working overtime.

"What are you talking about?" Declan asked, his voice steady but laced with suspicion.

My smirk deepened as I leaned forward slightly, my voice dripping with confidence. "The Duel Academy I attended was the one before Leo Akaba."

Shock washed over the room like a tidal wave. Even the stoic Chairwoman's expression faltered. "What?" she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. "But I thought my husband created Duel Academy."

Suddenly laughter arose from me, the sound echoing through the room. "Please," i scoffed. "While Leo Akaba twisted Duel Academy into what it is now, he didn't create it."

Declan's brow furrowed as he slowly lowered himself into his chair, resting his chin on his hands. "So, you're saying there was a Duel Academy before my father's time? One that wasn't a factory for destruction?"

My smirk faded, the expression hardening as my voice grew colder. "That's exactly what I'm saying. Your father killed the original creator of Duel Academy when he invaded the Fusion Dimension. He took over, warping it into his vision of conquest."

The air grew heavier as my gaze darkened, and my voice lowered to a near growl. "The original Duel Academy was a place of learning and innovation, not destruction. But that ended the day your father killed its founder—my father."

Declan's eyes widened slightly as the weight of my words hit him. "Your father?"

My voice trembled slightly with a mix of anger and grief as I spoke the name. "Seto Kaiba. My dad was the creator of the original Duel Academy… and not only did your father kill him, but my teacher, you may know him as the King of Games, Yugi Muto, thus beginning the fall of the Fusion Dimension."

The room fell silent, the tension now thicker than ever. Even Declan, with all his composure, seemed momentarily shaken.

It seems Kai has Opps coming after his head and they are pissed. What happened with Sora though? He is attacking them!!
