The classroom was in chaos.
Professor Nigel, short and with a thick mustache, scribbled the last numbers on the whiteboard and finally took a pause. He looked at the exhausted students, who were more interested in their phones than in the lesson.
"All right, everyone, here's the deal: the next class will be in groups. You'll have a week to create a project that combines creativity and calculation. Organize yourselves now, form groups of five or six."
The room immediately buzzed with activity. Chairs scraping, animated conversations springing up, while some students searched for their friends.
In the midst of this, Edward, a pale young man with worn-out clothes, watched from a distance. He had a scholarship and did his best to stand out, but his shyness isolated him from most.
He stood there for a few minutes, watching the groups form. His hands were sweating as he looked around, trying to gather the courage to approach someone. Finally, he spotted a group that seemed incomplete.
Sophie, the blonde with tight clothes and an imposing attitude, was leading the group. Her voice was naturally commanding, and her friends laughed at the sarcastic jokes she made about the other groups.
Edward swallowed nervously, took two steps toward the group, and said in a soft voice:
"Excuse me, do you have room for one more in the group?"
The laughter ceased. Sophie slowly turned to look at him, her eyes narrowing with a mix of disdain and curiosity.
"You want to join our group?" she asked, with a tone of false sweetness, tilting her head. "Look, everyone, the nerd wants to join."
The others laughed, while Edward stood still, trying to ignore the mocking glances.
"All right, we can let you join," Sophie said, after a dramatic pause. "But with one condition: you do all the calculations by yourself. We'll handle the rest, okay?"
Edward hesitated. He knew this was unfair, but he needed a group to finish the project. Before he could respond, Sophie narrowed her eyes and added:
"Or that, or go find another group, nerd."
The humiliation burned in his mind, but he nodded. "Fine… I'll do the calculations."
"Good choice," Sophie replied with a sly smile.

That night, Edward was in his small apartment, staring at the moldy ceiling. He didn't know how he would finish the project, but he had no choice. His mind was boiling with thoughts of revenge and justice.
However, as he got lost in his anguish, he felt something strange. A warmth spread through his body, and suddenly, a slight tremor began around him. The light in the room flickered.
Edward stood up, startled, but before he could react, a beam of golden light enveloped the entire room. He felt a powerful energy rush through his body, and his vision went dark.
When he opened his eyes, he was in a completely different place. An expansive darkness, lit by stars. In front of him, a towering figure with glowing eyes stared at him.
"Edward," said the powerful voice, "you have been chosen for something greater. Your heart cries out for justice, and your intelligence will be your weapon. Accept my gift and change your destiny."

Back at the university, the next morning, students were talking about Edward. He hadn't shown up for class, and no one knew where he was.
However, by the end of the class, he walked into the room. Something was different. His posture, once timid, was now confident. His eyes sparkled with determination.
"Sophie," he said, walking up to her, "about the agreement… changed your mind?"
The calm and cold tone in Edward's voice made Sophie hesitate. Something was different about him, something she couldn't quite pinpoint.
"You… want me to redo the agreement?" she asked, trying to hide her nervousness.
Edward smiled slightly. He knew something inside him had changed forever.
"No," he replied. "I just want you to be ready for the result."
