The strong winds and sea waves were signs of a massive and terrifying storm, which Asher ignored. The full moon on that stormy night seemed to be saying to Asher from the sky, "I will guide you to your destination."
"Hey, you! Coming back???" asked a man from the ship's crew.
"Who???"
"These are robbers!!!"
"So, what now, sir?"
"Don't worry, God is with us."
And then, what they feared happened. The robbers looted everything. Exhausted and injured, Asher realized that saving his life was the wisest decision. At that moment, he remembered his father's words:
"Son, whatever God does is right. We only receive what is meant for us, what is right for us. Even in despair, one must see God's blessings and accept everything as it is—that's the sign of a wise man."
By God's grace, another ship arrived. Though Asher had lost everything, the one thing the robbers couldn't take was his hope, courage, and self-belief. He now knew himself better and was ready to move forward toward his goal.
The truth is, humans are the creators of their destiny. If one desires and hopes for something, they can remain calm in any adversity and overcome everything. However, one small mistake can lead to their downfall.
With God's help, Asher found shelter on a new ship. Destiny and God's plans were guiding him somewhere different from where he initially intended to trade. It seemed fate itself was choosing his path.
"Thank you so much!" Asher said to the brave man on the new ship who had given him shelter.
"Don't thank me, sir. Thank God!"
"Yes, but you are His form. He exists in every person; we just need to change our perspective."
"By the way, where is this ship heading?"
"Sir, you're injured."
"It doesn't matter. What matters is that as long as there's life in the body, wounds will heal eventually."
"Sir, that's not the point. You're young, after all. Youth itself is more dangerous than this storm."
Deep-set eyes, sharp gazes, fair skin, and curly hair swaying in the wind—the injured face with a smile made him appear even more mysterious, presenting a new image of himself to the man on the ship.
The night passed.
But as far as reaching the destination was concerned, the ship might have found its goal.
However, Asher's path was to be decided by his fate.
"Sir, what about food and shelter now?"
"Hmmm."
"Is going back even possible, or will we have to wait?"
"Well, wherever God takes us will be our destination. If He has given the beak, He will also provide the grains."
"You're a merchant."
Hearing this word, Asher froze. He couldn't form a proper reply because he didn't know how to explain the truth.
The man on the ship had given him shelter because he knew the ship had been looted and Asher was just a slave there. But if the truth were revealed, what would happen afterward was a big mystery.
"No, sir. I'm just a slave. You mentioned going back?"
"No, to my country…."
"Sir, what country or family does a slave have?"
"But…."
"Right now, you should think about food and shelter. But… we and a few other slaves know about you. The merchant doesn't. If he did, the life you're talking about wouldn't remain."
"Then…"
"We're taking this ship to the governor's village."
"But…"
"Wait, listen to me, sir."
"Sir, as a slave, I understand. Trust God and come along."
"Food and shelter are a slave's life."
"Then…."
Asher now understood that fate, through God, was leading him on a completely different path.
He accepted this as his destiny. What was to happen would be God's will.
A man must accept God's will
as his duty, whether it places him in a palace or a hut.
