Chapter 1- Abandoned

Carter looked out the stained broken window, the pale moon shining down on the little he could see. Having been beaten back and forth as usual and every part of his body aching, the only method he can use to numb his aches a little is getting absent minded.

"2 days more", he thought, a chilling smile on his lips. Felipè and Marcus little secret they thought they kept well hidden would be exposed by himself, to no one else but to the mafia boss, Don Alfaco. Thinking of the mafia boss, his face turned grim, he had already found out that the two keepers keep part of the merchandise hidden away from the others, which was very dangerous, as they would be treated like cold meat by the Don if found out, chopped into many pieces and thrown into the sea. He feared if he could keep his life after sharing his findings with the Don, as the man was well known for his ruthlessness.

" I can only gamble, after all, what's there to lose except for my life?, hehe" he mumbled. He was part of the 12 children to be trafficked by the mafia from his home to Mexico, luckily for him he was not used as gun practice by the keepers but was pushed to pick pocketing and carrying wrap-powder to certain locations for the mafia. Having lived his past 3 years like this, he grew sick of it.

Recalling his helplessness when his sister was chosen for gun practice, his heart burn with rage that threatened to consume him, placing his palm on his chest, he took deep breaths and calmed down. Looking around at the other beating children, he smirked mockingly at them.

"Carter, it's time to eat, don't sit around and sulk like a niña pequeña, you need the strength for tomorrows rounds, I don't want you to hold me back, I won't take another beating for your carelessness", his operation partner, Martini's voice echoed in the hall. Wincing in pain, he moved his aching body and joined the others for dinner at the worn out hall. 6 children, paired together for operations, everyday at the slums sat obediently at a broken table, patiently waiting for their everyday dinner, pasta.
