Ivonne's POV
"I think we should leave," Tobias announced and my heart jerked in my chest as his attention shifted back to me, a fake smile curling his lips.
'We are in trouble,' Ria sang in my head and my mouth went dry.
"Mmmhh," was the only sound I could make in response as I gulped, already sensing a change in his demeanor and not willing to test if it was in my favor or not.
"Jarvis," he glanced at his Beta who sat up straight from his authoritative tone. "Keep an eye out and note everything that goes on in my absence."
"Okay Alpha," Jarvis bowed or should I say try to because of his sitting position.
"Reed," he faced his subordinate who was still busy eating. "Make sure there's no trouble and try to keep things under control, making sure everything goes smoothly without any form of violence."
"I hear you Alpha," he gave a salute, voice muffled as his mouth was occupied.
"Let me take you home Ivonne," he directed his words to me and stood to his feet his hand in mine helping me stand easily beside him. "Can you walk?"
I nodded in reply and allowed him guide me away from the table and into the crowd once again. Everyone had a designated table, rather most people decided to stand as they mingled and had sips of the champagne while eating snacks and other goodies being passed around.
"Leaving already Alpha?" A man whom I was introduced to as the Alpha of the Jade pack stopped us on our way.
"Yes," he answered with a completely straight face. "My mate here is feeling a bit queasy and I think it's best we go home. She has been stressed lately and probably needs a rest."
"Sorry about that Luna Ivonne," the red haired lady who was his Luna on his arm said. "Stress can get to someone easily. You'll be better after a little rest trust me."
"Thanks for your concern," I smiled kindly, my hand secured in Tobias's hold. "Enjoy the rest of your night. I apologize we can't entertain you further."
"It's no problem," the other Alpha brushed off my apology. "Go on, I'm certain your subordinates have things under control here."
"Yes, and I trust them," Tobias declared with a tilt to his lips. "If you don't mind we'll be on our away."
"Sure," the man replied. "See you around."
We strolled toward the exit, smiling and waving at anyone who turned out way. We didn't stop except briefly when he caught Lincoln and Alison gawking at us.
Tobias simply lifted a brow at them, a smirk on his lips as he gave Lincoln a challenging look and Alison one of disgust before he pulled me the rest of the way to the door.
We exited the pack house, his fingers not leaving mine as we trudged toward the mansion in silence. The noise of the ball fading to a minimum as we neared his mansion which had become my home.
He pushed the door inward to let us in and I was shocked to see Lora sprawled on the couch. She instantly scrambled to her feet as she spotted us.
"Welcome Luna," she bowed in greeting. "Alpha."
"When did you return Lora?" I inquired, curious. "What about Janice and Annalise?"
"They are still back at ball," she explained in reply.
"Why aren't you?" Tobias implored as he kicked off his shoes. "Was there any disturbance whatsoever or a specific reason you left?"
"None of the sort Alpha," she informed. "I was just tired."
"Are you sure?" I queried in concern.
"I'm certain Luna," she beamed. "It hasn't been long I returned. I just got changed."
"Okay if you say so," I murmured and pressed my palm into one of the couches for balance as I unhooked the heels I had on and pulled them off my feet.
"Is there something to eat in the house?" Tobias questioned and loosened the first two buttons on his shirt as he strolled further into the living room.
"There is left over pancakes in the oven from breakfast," she revealed as I picked up my shoes in one hand.
"Add some eggs and prepare orange juice for your Luna," he instructed, wrapping his hands around mine.
"Okay Alpha," Lora nodded and turned on her way to the kitchen.
"Bring them up to our room when you are done," he conveyed and led me to the staircase. "I don't think your Luna has had something nice to eat since today so I'd appreciate it if you hurry."
"Already on it," Lora called from the kitchen and I smiled in appreciation at being cared for by two amazing people.
Tobias and I didn't exchange any conversation as we ascended the stairs and turned a corner on the top floor, ambling to the door which opened up to our room.
We entered and I sat down on the bed while he whirled around to lock the door. There was slight tension in the air, a bit of it was filled with attraction and the other with curiosity, especially as he fixed his eyes on me.
"You can go ahead and ask me," I exhaled a breath as he continued to watch me from the door, head tilted to the side as he peered at my form.
"It's good you know I have questions," he murmured, deep voice rumbling as he unhooked the rest of the buttons on his shirt, causing the shirt to hand loosely on his shoulders and reveal his sculpted chest and abs to my view, momentarily distracting me.
"Eyes up here Ivonne," he snorted, lips curled in a smirk as his eyes darkened. "This is a serious matter."
"I know," I cleared my throat as I realized I had been caught staring even to the point of licking my bottom lip unconsciously. "Sorry about that, I just-"
"Got distracted," Tobias finished for me, taking steps toward the bed. "Same way I'm trying not to get distracted by your legs on display. Missing the way you wrap them around my waist while I fuck your insides the way I like it."
"Not the way I like it?" I asked as he planted his palms on either side of me on the bed and leaned his face toward mine.
"Not the way you like it," he affirmed and kissed my bottom lip, his lids becoming hooded with lust as his eyes gazed into mine. "But the way I do."
"Hmmm," I hummed and pulled his bottom lip into my mouth, nibbling and sucking it for moments, sexual tension rising between us every damn minute.
"Yeah," he declared huskily, pecking my cheek. "Because you know you like it the way I like it." "I do," I giggled as his mouth moved to brush my neck.
"Good," he whispered on my skin and straightened to a standing position. "Let's not get distracted."
"Hit me," I pouted, staring up at him as he gave me that sexy look that made me want to jump his bones.
"What happened with Alison and Lincoln?" He questioned, expression stern while his irises held lust in their depths.
"Lincoln waited for me on my way out of the bathroom," I confessed, eyes dropping to my lap. "As expected he had some nonsense to say about missing me and how worried he has been."
"What about Alison?" He went on to ask.
"She showed up at the wrong time when he put his arms around me and—"
"He did what?!" Tobias growled out the question before I could complete my statement.
