Chapter 26 - Chapter 26

Ivonne's POV

Hours went by as strolled around the market, tasting finger foods and admiring handmade crafts and colorful objects. We also visited the children's park and mesuem where sadly we didn't see much as we were told some renovations were going on.

The sun had began to set when we stopped at a man who was roasting meat with pepper, onions and cabbages to garnish it. The sight of it dished out on a plastic plate for a customer was what hooked us.

It was more like a barbecue setting and we couldn't resist to halt and buy some. I bought a separate portion for Tobias to have a taste and there a thought popped in about how nice it would be for spaghetti instead of meatballs.

"Lora?" I called as she had already began munching on a slice of meat from the paperbag in her hold.

"Yes Luna?" She turned to me while I put two of the extra paperwraps in my bag and luckily they entered. It was not gonna be a shock if my handbag ended up scenting like barbecue for the rest of its days.

"What do you say I make a nice pot of spaghetti with this barbecue for dinner?" I put the suggestion out there and wanted to hear her opinion.

"It would be amazing Luna," she beamed, her eyes lighting up at the thought. "I've missed your delicious cooking."

"Would it be doing too much?" I let out a question, a bit hesistant. "What if Alpha Tobias thinks I'm trying to pull a trick or something?"

"I don't think so Luna," she touched my arm, bringing my gaze from my fingers which were scratching my bag in a sign of nervousness. "I'm certain he'd see your sincerity and there's no contesting he'd love your food. You are amazing cook Luna."

"You think so?" I implored, needing one last bit of assurance and the moment she nodded, I felt my fear disappear. "Thanks for the moral boost Lora."

"Anytime Luna," she giggled as I pinched her cheek and made a 180 degree twirl, facing away from me and in the direction that'd take us back to the market square. "So are we to go that way now?"

"Yes we are," I declared and followed her actions which she chuckled. I hooked my arm with hers and together we traced our steps to the cluster of kiosks where we bought everything we thought I'd need to prepare spaghetti.

We walked around and didn't miss a single ingredient out. With Lora's hand filled with the grocery bag which she refused to help me carry even when I offered, we mad our way back to the mansion.

"Is the Alpha back yet?" I asked the guard on my right when we were at the entrance of the house.

"No he isn't," the bronze skinned man murmured in a brooding voice, his puffy hair in an afro style atop his head and dressed in a sleeveless maroon colored shirt like the other guards I'd seen hanging around. It appeared like a uniform of sorts as it was coupled with black slacks.

I'm not gonna lie, they appeared hot in them as their bulky arms were displayed because of the lack of sleeves and their chest and abs were for all to see hence the shirt remained unbottened.

"Okay," I let out in response and was about entering the house when I turned to ask. "What are your names?"

"Zariel," the one I was conversing with answered while the other by his side who had pale skin, black straight shoulder length hair and black eyes answered. "Garrett."

"Nice to officially be introduced to you both," I stretched my lips in a grin and angled my head toward Zariel's position. "Sorry I didn't allow you follow me around. Next time you will, I promise."

His brows shot up in surprise at my words and I giggled at his expression of surprise as I was certain I didn't pick up on the reason for his mood. He opened his mouth to say something but closed it after while Garrett tried to hold in a laugh.

"I'm about to cook dinner," I announced and pointed at the nylon bag in Lora's hold. "I'll send some to you guys when I'm done."

At that I entered the living room, leaving them both stunned at my offer while Lora had a blush on her cheeks. Again I brushed off the question in my head and noted to ask her later.

While I crossed the carpet in the living room my phone's ringtone filled the air and I paused, Lora doing same with me, her gaze directed at the bag hung across my shoulder where my phone was.

I slid my fingers inward and retrieved the paperbags which contained the barbecue and handed it to her, while silently gesturing her to take them all to the kitchen.

Understanding my motions she strolled to the kitchen door and I brought out my phone from the bag. The screen flashed before my eyes and I didn't really check who was calling before I slid my thumb on the screen and picked up the call.

"Hello," I greeted and placed the device on my ear as the line connected.

"Where are you Ivonne?" A very familiar voice asked from the other side of the line and it took only a five seconds for the pieces to fall into place.

Bringing my phone away from my ear for a moment, I peered at the screen but spotted a strange number. I never deleted Lincoln's number so it was a bit strange to hear a familiar voice from an unknown number.

"Lincoln?" I said his name like a question, in need of confirmation thus I was a tad confused.

"Yes, Lincoln your ex husband," he answered clarifying my suspicions. "Where are you Ivonne?"

"Why are you calling me Lincoln?" I asked in an exasperated tone, irritation creeping up my insides at the mere thought of the disgusting male. "And what business of yours is it where I am?"

"It is my business when you are in enemy territory," he blurted, sounding angry.

"Hold up," I laughed in a hollow manner. "Are you worried about me?"

"Of course I am," he went on to say. "It was suspicious when he came to pick you up and now you are in his pack? Living in his house?"

"Oh you know where I am and you dared to ask?" I scoffed, shaking my head. "And did you just agree to being worried for me?"

"Is that a bad thing?" He implored.

"Well let me enlighten you," I chuckled dryly. "It is. Especially when you didn't give two shits about me when I was under your roof and now I'm not you are what? Worried? Spare me that crap Lincoln."

"So I'm talking crap?" He questioned and thought it the best time to laugh which tickec me off. "Me being worried about my ex wife and former Luna of my pack being with an enemy is crap?"

"Oh yes," I insisted, a thought entering my head. "Wait. Why am I getting the idea that you are jealous?"

"Jealous? Why would I be?" He asked in a strange tone which signaled he was indeed lying.

"It's clear you are so suck it up," I sneered already tired of the conversation. I was so lost in my rage as my free hand clenched and unclenched in a fist that I didn't notice an extra presence behind me.
