Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Into the Maw

 It started raining again.

Lorelei knelt low, her breasts pressing against her leg, while she scoped out the building below. She chose a good spot above her target, overshadowed by a failing radio tower, crouching alongside the rusting metal beams and positioned to move quickly should she get spotted. She was only three floors up on the cement ceiling and her tail curved around her shoulder, she used the tip to poke a hole in the soda-can she had just purchased so that she could take a long sip. She had been scoping the place for a while, and her throat was parched.

Below, the streets were largely abandoned. She was close to a bullet farm, one of the worst gang-ridden sectors of Vult, and there were eyes hidden everywhere. Thankfully, most of them were drugged as high as a kite, and comfortable in the belief that no one would actually attack them here.

This turf was owned by the Chain Maws, a gang that removed their jaws with grotesque implants upon initiation. They traded in stolen implants and guarded their territory with a heightened level of savagery. Lorelei used every ounce of her skill and training to avoid their scouts. She could see one of them, his eyes replaced with red oculus implants, and his jaw was a broad band of steel with moving jig-saw teeth. He was operating a shady business on the corner, likely selling drugs or cheap psycho vids for porn addicted customers.

There were a small collection of guards wandering up and down the street, each of them with similar jaw implants and carrying small arms with large magazines. A few wrapped their bodies in bullet belts that were fed into their machine guns. Those few had their arms replaced with metallic limbs that were studded with magical bolts.

Lorelei focused her attention on the building.

The building was a warehouse enclosed by a damaged enclosure of shipping containers. It would have been easy to find a way inside. The problem was surviving once inside. She had the fixers customer, her contact, linked to her scanner and comm piece; he was able to see and hear everything.

"See a way in?" He asked with that manly tone of his.

"Not yet. At least not a way that wouldn't end up in a shooting match." Lorelei shifted her position a bit. She didn't have a gun; there wasn't room for it with her skin-tight bodysuit, and if it came between her bodysuit (and all the stuff it came with) and a gun, she would always choose her bodysuit. Because of this, a shooting match was the last thing she wanted.

Leaning against the metal beam, she continued searching the exterior of the building. The building was supposed to be the store house for massive crates of bullets of all calibers. Right now, however, it was operated by the Chain Maws for the rapid-induction of their new recruits.

That meant there was a lot of jaw chopping going on in there.

She could feel nothing but fear emanating from inside—practically bleeding through the walls—that and some bizarre sense of hope. As if the people volunteering to go inside saw a light at the end of the tunnel, a very dark and terrible tunnel.

"You can always back out if you want too. I can always hire someone else." His voice stung.

"Just let me concentrate." Lorelei stiffened. She looked around, letting the sound of the rain center her thoughts.

She finally saw it, a way she could get inside without notice. The other side of the facility offered more terrain to hide, and there were exposed sewage pipes that would not be guarded. She could traverse them easily enough into the compound. Then, she could slip through a hacked door.

 That just left the cameras.

She arched forward just a bit, letting the rain run down her backside, and checked her hacking gear. Her bodysuit had a number of technological enhancements, allowing her to avoid body implants. While they weren't nearly as advanced, it was more than enough to live on the streets, and with a bit of skill, she could perform jobs like this.

Running along the spine of the suit was a magical rune system, programmed with a few simple hacks that she had ready access to. Along with her stealth sub-routines, she could evade cameras and hack into terminals with relative ease. If she fully embraced physical implantation things would be even better, but she didn't like the idea of swapping flesh for wires and tech.

"Ok, I'm about to begin." Lorelei spoke into the comm. She sat upright, letting the rain run down her exposed cleavage, and activated some of the energy cells in her bodysuit. After this, she would definitely have to spend some Siins to re-charge the suits batteries. If she played her cards right, she might even afford an upgrade.

Maybe I'll get a corset! She thought to herself. She always wanted to add to her ensemble and even buy a few more. She just had expensive tastes, and all her money went to maintaining what she currently had.

With a dozen dominions though, she would not only be able to afford several new outfits, but she would also finally have enough to pay the entrance and testing fee to get into the university!

She took a deep breath; her heart was hammering beneath her breast.

 Theo…

"Focus Lorelei," She spoke to herself, completely forgetting that there was someone listening on the comm. "Time to get to work."

"Good luck girl." The voice on the other end cut off the connection so as not to distract her further.

Lorelei put her empty soda down, then gracefully stood alongside the metal beam. The moment lightning struck, she moved swiftly, reaching the streets from a fire escape, and then moved to the other side of the warehouse.
