"You okay?"

Jerry placed an enormous hand on Dion's shoulder and shook it, by now the SP was visibly pale and also spasmed occasionally, he was standing frozen in place.

'No, it's not exactly the same '

The world still moved, and with amazing clarity even. Unlike all those times he perceived the world supernaturally, this time wasn't about him, it was like a warning signal.

Every cell within him screamed danger, he should be running, looking for where to hide, something was coming, coming for him and if he stayed here he would definitely die.

"... thing," he muttered.

"Huh," Jerry didn't catch that, his mumbling was way too low. "What did you say?"

This time Dion didn't answer, he slowly lifted his head up, on seeing him Jerry was alarmed. Dion face was ghostly pale, and his lips so red they almost bled, in just a span of a few seconds. His appalling visage had James terrified.

"Something is coming," Dion muttered weakly.

"What the fuck!" One of the boys shouted. "Is he dead?"

Jerry glared at the idiot, then he supported Dion with his arms and opened his mouth to say something, when...

BEEP! BEEP!! BEEP!!!

Suddenly in unison, a beeping noise sounded across the whole school and Dion flinched.

It wasn't the alarm, the alarm didn't sound like this. Using one hand, Jerry fished out his phone from his pocket and stared at it in astonishment.

Across the school, no, across the state, nation, across the whole world even, same scenes were taking place, and on the screen of every phone worldwide the same symbol was shown.

Z.

You could imagine the scene, across the globe everyone who owned a cell phone just staring at it in apprehension, it didn't matter whether you were in your car, bike, a plane or a ship, everyone could hear it, it was like the heart beat of the planet.

BEEP! BEEP!! BEEP!!!

Everyone was drawn to the sound like a magnet, their subconscious hooked, they couldn't look away even if they wanted to.

BEEP! BEEP!! BEEP!!!

The beeping continued, while the whole world waited, there was a chilling apprehension in the air, everyone could feel it, a feeling of absolute wrongness that hovered in the air, something was about to happen, everyone could feel it, but what...

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEEEEEEEEEP!!!

The beeping suddenly became extremely loud, beeping faster and faster, untill it became one final drawn beep and then there was silence.

The silence dragged on for a few seconds, but somehow no one looked away from their phones, no one moved, it didn't feel like it was over, instead that feeling of wrongness just grew deeper and sharper, like the calm before the storm.

And so time trickled slowly, until...

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG!!!!!!!!!!!

One loud blaring sound echoed across the globe, increasing in magnitude as it travelled from one phone to another.

"Ahhhh!"

Dion dropped his phone, and raised his hands to his ears and covered them. Everyone did the same, the annoying sound induced headache and almost seemed to be capable of splitting skulls.

Dion held his hands tightly against his ears till the sound died out, then he cautiously lowered them, confused.

He eyed his surroundings warily and noticed everyone slowly lowering their hands too.

"Is it over - "

THUD! THUD! THUD!

All of a sudden, everyone began dropping like flies.

Dion watched in alarm as their eyes rolled into their sockets and they dropped, not caring to soften their landings for their safety, most of them fell headfirst to the ground and bashed their heads against the floor, yet no response, their bodies seemed to have lost all consciousness.

It was such that in a few seconds, only Dion stood. To his left and right, all around him, he could see people sprawled about helplessly, male and female students and teachers too, no discrimination.

Dion suddenly had a terrible premonition, that it was just like it was here, that it was like such everywhere, that in the whole world he was the last man standing.
