Kae's POV:
The door didn't open, and I noticed the bolt holding the door in place. Thank God I locked it earlier when the mailman left.
"Open up, Kae," Axel begged. "Please."
"Go away before I call the police," I warned.
"You wouldn't dare! Just open up, baby," he pleaded, but when I wouldn't bulge he resumed banging the door with his fist.
"Screw you. I'm apologizing to you, and you're ignoring me. How dare you?!" He yelled.
"Open the damn door!" He yelled.
I hurriedly grabbed my phone and dialed 911, putting it on speaker.
"Hello, this is the police. What's your emergency?" The receiver spoke.
"Hello, my ex-boyfriend is trying to break into my apartment."
Axel heard me speak, and he quit banging on my door.
"Is he threatening you?" The female officer asked.
"He is. He won't stop yelling and hitting my door," I continued.
"Kae, drop the phone. I'll leave. I promise," Axel begged.
"Leave me alone," I spat.
"Do you want me to send a backup?" The officer asked.
"I'm leaving," Axel said. His voice withdrew. I slowly walked to the door, checked the peephole, and watched him leave.
"No. He left," I said.
"Okay, please call back if he returns. Would you like me to stay with you for a few more minutes to make sure you're safe?" She asked.
"Um, yeah," I answered. "Thank you."
"I'll advise you to lock your door and windows. Have you done that?" She asked.
"Y..yes, I have," I stammered while checking the doors and windows.
I wondered how my neighbors had not come to check what had happened. They always liked to ignore everything, and sometimes I wondered if they existed.
I watched Axel leave the house from my window, and he walked to his car. He turned to look at my window, and I quickly dodged, avoiding his gaze.
I peeled again, and he was in his car driving away.
"He's gone," I said.
"Did you see him drive off?" She asked calmly.
"Yes, I did. He just drove his car out now," I replied.
"Would you like to make an entry?" She asked.
"N…no, I don't think there's a need for that," I answered.
"Are you sure? If he's been violent before, then you should report him. I have your address on the computer. Would you like me to send someone to you? To make you feel safe?" She asked calmly.
"No, Thank you. I just wanted him to leave. He's gone now," I said.
"I'll be hanging up now. Don't hesitate to call the police if he returns," She said softly.
"I will. Thank you," I said, and the line died.
I exhaled, falling to the ground and gasping for air. I had never expected Axel to be so violent. Why did he come here? What did he want with me?
I knew he could be hot-headed and tempered, but he had never acted out at me.
I waited for an hour and then two, peeking out the window. I couldn't sleep anymore, and I kept imagining Axel returned. I had no place to go.
"Ugh, God damn it!" I groaned and walked to my closet. I grabbed the shortest dress I could find. The black dress hugged my curves, and I matched it with lacy dark heels.
I wore simple makeup and headed for the door. My hand trembled as it reached for the bolt. I gently unlocked the bolts and twisted the doorknob.
Pulling the door open, I held my breath, expecting the worst, but the hallway was clear. I checked the hallway and walked out, locking my door and dashing out of the apartment and into the street.
I hailed a cab and got off at the club. Pushing past the crowd at the entrance. I finally got in, showing my ID.
The music was loud, and you could barely hear anyone speaking. The room was filled with people dancing, and I could feel the music best vibrating through my body.
Without a second thought, I strolled to the bad area of the club and ordered a shot. I was ready to drown my sorrows. If I was ever going to do that successfully, I needed to catch suitable prey.
My eyes scanned the room, and I caught a pair of piercing blue eyes meeting mine. He was tall, with chiseled features and a body that made you dreamy. His black hair was styled neatly and short.
My heart pounded fast in my chest as he watched me. "Look away, Kae," my mind sang, but I couldn't. It was like I was pulled under his spell.
He began to walk towards me, and I felt my heart beat faster. "Look away," my brain warned, and I did.
The bartender poured another shot, and I drowned it in a gulp.
His strong, masculine scent hit my nose as she sat beside me. "I'll have tequila. Please, give the lady a cocktail," he said.
He definitely had my attention now. "Thank you," I purred.
"You're new here," he said calmly, and I stared at him in shock. How did he know?
"You can tell?" I asked, taking the glass of cocktail placed in front of me.
He nodded and sipped his drink. "It's obvious."
"Yeah, you're right. I just wanted to breathe a little," I confessed.
"Not the best of places to breathe, I can assure you," he responded.
My eyes locked on his. He didn't try to break the contact, and I blinked, feeling my cheeks get warm.
"You have beautiful eyes," I blurted. I wanted to kill myself for that. Why did I say that? It probably was the drink.
"Thanks, I get that a lot," he replied.
What a way to feel awkward.
"Would you like to dance?" He asked calmly, smiling gently at me.
I returned his smile and answered. "Sure." I gulped my drink and followed him to the dance floor.
His warm hands on mine made me melt, and I lost myself when our skin touched. I knew I wanted him and was ready to take my chances. I rocked him and flirted with my touch.
His strong hands held my waist, holding me still as I stared into his eyes, confused.
My mind raced with questions. "Was I being too direct? Did he not like it?"
He smirked and leaned in, his warm breath whispering against my ear. "Do you want to get out of here?"
I nodded, smiling as my heart raced with anticipation. He held my hand, leading me to the VIP section of the club.
My heart raced as I walked into the room. Was I going to do this with him? I had never let Axel touch me.
I drowned my thoughts and welcomed the stranger's kisses. His warm, strong hands moved on my body, holding my waist. I moaned as his kisses trailed my skin, moving down my neck.
My zip pulled softly at his touch, exposing my milky skin to his soft lips. I moaned as his lips did their magic on my skin, making me feel alive. We fell on the bed, and my hands pulled off his jacket.
I breathed softly when he took a condom from the table. "Are you ready?" He asked softly.
"Yes," I whispered.
He leaned in, his breath on my neck. "Are you sober?" He asked calmly.
"Yes," I answered.
"Do you want this?" He asked again.
I gulped and pulled his face closer to mine, kissing him. "Yes," I said, breaking the kiss. "I want this."
He smiled warmly and tore open the condom, sliding it on his hardness. His lips met mine and I melted into his touch. My body was on fire, burning with desire as he found my entrance.
His hardness teased my opening and he slowly slid in.
"Ow," I groaned and he withdrew.
"You're a virgin?" He asked, staring at me.
