Chapter 11 - part 11

Tom saw a countdown: 6 hours displayed at the top. He immediately looked around for possible hiding places and ambush spots.

Quickly, he began placing traps. In fact, he had an idea as soon as he arrived.

He would create fake hiding places. Taking some loudspeakers out of his bag, he carefully hid them in various locations—some far away, others close to him.

This might buy him five or six hours, but he knew that against a trained army, survival for very long was unlikely.

This left him with only one option: to hide. Deep down, Tom knew this was his best chance of survival.

However, in the past few days, he had realized something unsettling.

Sure, hiding might increase his chances, but was it really what he wanted?

He felt a newfound rush of excitement and adrenaline—alongside a growing arrogance.

"I don't want to hide," Tom muttered to himself. "I don't want to survive. I want them to fear me. I don't want to submit—I want them to submit."

It was risky—too risky—but it was the only way to become what he truly wanted to be. So, with determination, he put his plan into action.

At that moment, the enemy army entered the city. Although they were NPCs, there was only one person against them. Predictably, they underestimated the threat.

The deputy commander approached the commanding officer.

"Commander, there are gunshots coming from four different areas."

The commander gave a curt order: "Divide the troops into four units. Find and destroy."

The deputy nodded and relayed the command.

Tom was in the northern sector at the time.

He knew the soldiers were closing in. Hidden behind a house, he had left his HK416 rifle and nine magazines nearby. With 1,000 trained soldiers hunting him in the same city, engaging in a firefi

In his hand, he held a serrated commando knife—razor-sharp. Five soldiers entered the street where he lay in wait.

Tom remained perfectly still, letting them come closer. When they were behind the wall of the house in front of him, he

"Let's kill this stupid terrorist and grab a drink after—hahaha," one of them jeered.

When they were close enough, Tom pressed a button hidden in his pocket.

BOOM!

A deafening explosion erupted from one of the traps he'd set earlier, throwing the soldiers into confusion.

Seizing the opportunity, Tom dashed forward. He targeted the most dangerous-looking soldier first, silently slashing his windpipe. Before the man could fall, Tom was already behind the next soldier, dispatching him with equal precision.

The third soldier noticed something was wrong and began to turn around—but it was too late. Tom struck swiftly, silencing him.

The remaining soldiers finally reacted, turning to draw their weapons. Tom slowed time in his mind, calculating his next move with precision.

By the time he reached the fourth soldier, the last one had managed to draw his gun.

Tom activated his ability, Beast's Gaze. The soldier froze in place, paralyzed. Without hesitation, Tom drove his knife into the man's heart.

With the immediate threat neutralized, Tom searched the bodies, collecting magazines and any useful supplies. Then, he retreated to his next hiding spot.

As he regrouped, a notification caught his attention.
