It was wierd to say the least, a moment ago I was standing on solid ground and now I'm falling to my death.
And the endless darkness didn't make it better,
Callon and Elgor were nowhere to be seen and I don't know how deep this drop is going to be.
'Callon did something stupid.'
It was something that I did not expect from an experienced adventurer but who knows maybe it really wasn't his fault.
My trusty mace was still with me and the lack of wind resistance made my fall faster.
Due to me being lost in my thoughts, I failed to see the small wisps of multicolored fog spreading from the darkness.
'What?'
The darkness was no more instead being replaced by the fog, it churned and twisted similar to the way when you enter another area inside the lands of no return.
My grip on my mace tightened as I felt solid ground beneath my feet, not knowing that it would be futiile.
And soon the fog dissipated and darkness returned to my vision again, I stayed silent trying my best to sense anything close by.
Even though I couldn't see right now I could use my other senses.
But that didn't help much considering that I haven't trained them much.
Clank, Clank, Clank, Clank.
Marching footsteps echoed, steel collided with the ground to make clanking noises and a foul stench spread throughout the air.
Thousands of bright blood red eyes emerged from darkness and they didn't seem happy to see me.
I mean who would?
I got into a fighting stance with both my hands on the mace, ready to strike anything that gets near.
Even though the darkness doesn't allow me to see, their eyes certainly will.
And soon they moved, the tallest one moved first he charged towards me with the intent to kill.
Loud rumbling footsteps echoed, the chamber shook but I stood my ground.
The moment the eyes got atleast a meter close to me I swung my mace backwards for a powerful blow.
I reeled it backwards and the moment we came face to fa...ribs I smashed it's ribs.
'Undead?'
They had skeletal bodies, and strong ones too
It was obvious by the fact that I didn't even scratch it, and it didn't stop it's charge as it smacked me with it's forearm.
Bone met flesh and if fucking hurts.
I was thrown away and I smashed into a group of undead and they didn't let this chance go to waste.
They caught me and threw me onto the ground.
'Dammit.' I thought as I saw five pairs of red glowing eyes stared down at me from above.
I tried to get up but before I could do so something smashed into my stomach.
Which I assume to be a hammer.
I was baffled, saliva mixed with blood escaped my mouth and I almost lost consciousness.
I was unable to breath, my nose and lungs not obeying me and then it happened again.
However this time it was on my chest,
That didn't make it any better, did it?
I could feel sharp pointy tips poking my lungs and crushed up ribs were spread throughout my chest area.
I started to cough like a rabid dog, blood and snot smearing the ground and my face.
It was disgusting to be honest.
They didn't stop instead increased their speed,
Blow after blow rained on my body with me unable to do anything.
I tried to raise my hand in resistance but that proved to futile when they got crushed along side my body.
I was in agony, I could feel chunks of broken bones floating around my organs and some stabbed onto them.
I screamed, a blood curling a scream which seems to please these creatures as a ear grinding laugh escaped their mouth.
They continued, they mainly used blunt weopons to inflict more pain, and the fact that I was wearing armor made it worse.
But I wasn't in agony for long as they moved away seemingly giving way to something,
Something that I assume to be their leader.
Those eyes stared at me coldly and I felt something grab onto my throat and it raised me from the ground.
I was left dangling from it's hand, its grip not allowing me to take breath and the fact that my whole body was almost crushed into paste didn't help it.
Even breathing was painful but it was necessary.
However it didn't even allow me to breath.
It scrutinized me, the light from its eyes glowing brighter by the second as it slowly closed the distance between our face.
The stench was unbearable.
And then when we were moments away from a headbutt, it spoke-
"O, foul blood of Adam, it brings me great joy seeing you suffer."
Its voice sounded similar to the winds howling through gaps between rocks, a whooshing sound to be more precise.
I raised my broken arms, the pain trying to force me to stop moving but I knew if I did,
I would be no more.
I clutched onto it's bony arms with gritted teeth and despite the pain I slowly used it as support.
I tried to pry it's hands away from my throat but that was a failure so I did the next best thing that came to my mind.
I swung my lower body upwards with the help of his hand and used my legs to wrap around his neck.
Fortunately for me those creatures atleast left my leg in pretty good condition.
I pulled one leg away away and started to smash it into it's face, kick after kick but it just stood there recieving the blows without even a flinch.
But that didn't discourage me as I continued stomping until he got tired of it.
He caught my leg and twisted it, I tried to scream but the bony thump forced its way into my mouth when I tried to scream.
I could feel the dry bones touching the back of my throat.
His hands were eventually covered in saliva but as a skeletal undead he didn't seem to care.
"Although I would like your suffering a bit longer I don't want to keep the others waiting."
He threw me onto another undead and said something in an unknown language and the undead started carrying me towards God knows where.
The pain was unbearable and the way this undead was carrying me didn't help the fact it hurts.
I just hanged on its hands, lifelessly trying to regain as much as energy possible.
'Regeneration got me covered but can I really depend on it?'
What if it didn't work?
What if it was limited?
Hehe, that means I'm dead.
If you always keeps asking the 'if' questions you won't get anywhere.
It would just increase your insecurity and make you more frightened to do the stuff you don't want to do.
Having free will is one thing but using it is another.
I have only one motto in my life.
Live life to the fullest and if it doesn't work and end in failure, kill yourself.
I don't want to grow old, I don't want to live forever, I want to die young while being remembered.
And if I can't do that, If I can't make a legendary legacy, If I'm scared to do anything, If I feel like life is boring, I would kill myself.
Yes, I'm someone who gives up easily.
I noticed that the undead had stopped moving and he was staring down at something.
'I really need something that can help me see in the dark...'
"Into the well you go."
The undead spoke and threw me where it was staring at previously.
I fell through the darkness and it was a short fall to be honest.
It was similar to the fall I had earlier the difference being there was no fog to break the fall.
I fell face first into a slimy, muddy ground.
The pungent stench of rotten bodies assaulted my nose and the taste of iron filled my tongue.
Don't ask me why I licked it.
The well wasn't the one filled with water instead it was blood.
I turned on my back with great difficulty and gazed into the darkness above.
'A well filled with dead bodies.'
A grave-filled well.
I have to commend myself for not fainting while against those undeads but you know a man has his limits.
I slowly closed my eyes and tried to distract myself from the pain.
'Tired.' I sighed in my mind as I slowly drifted into sleep despite the pain.
