"Died, again, your game is shit bro!" Selina whines.
"You're just mad cuz' you're bad… But maybe the difficulty is a bit too much." Michael adds as he stares at the death screen of the game he's currently developing.
"Hot Stranger in My Bed"; a BL Otome game about you, yes you, the player waking up in the Cold Duke's bed. How did you get there? Who even are you? And why are all the hot powerful men in the kingdom suddenly in love with you? Well, that's a mystery you'll find out the answer to soon enough. The setting is a typical romance fantasy/otome game. A weird European Medieval wannabe time period with whatever random things the author decides to add which goes completely against it.
As of now, there are three male leads: The Cold Duke of the North, The Crown Prince, and Werewolf Prince.
Troye Amister, the cool, psychopathic, manipulative, son of a BITCH-cough cough, off topic, but all you need to know about him is that he's as suspicious and cold as he is handsome. He has silver hair with cold blue eyes that can melt even the most stoic of a person.
Noah Starkirt, the crown prince. He's flirty, loves teasing, and is an unserious, comical character. However, behind his facade is a broken man who was born in a crappy environment, one where he has to kill or be killed to survive in. His golden hair can send a vampire crumbling with a glance and warm, ruby-red eyes that can turn fierce in a click of a button.
Last but certainly not least, Alister Von Jinx, the prince of a rapidly decreasing werewolf tribe. His hot-temper and fist-first-talk-later attitude has him often butting heads with Troye. Messy brown hair, a pair of rough looking brown ears which feel quite fluffy when touched, a long, furry tail, and striking gray-blue eyes can even turn dog haters into lovers. He's also the fanservice character of the game (don't tell Michael I said this, but we all know it's true at this point. Dog boy is totally his type), his wardrobe malfunctioning so often you'd wonder if he even needs a shirt at this point.
"A bit much?! This is like my 10th death to this sicko of a man. Troye Amister isn't a love interest; he's a war crime with abs. God, if I could wake up in a stranger's bed, I would rather it be a hot lady than a cold, bitchface." Selina rambles on.
"Your bias is showing. Plus, who doesn't love a handsome psycho? I do admit the difficulty is a bit much, but it's not my fault you keep choosing all the wrong dialogue options, sis." Michael replies.
"Troye wouldn't have been that bad of a character if you've progressed the way I told you to. At this point, you won't even unlock his hidden trait." Michael adds on.
"Hidden trait? There's more?! Spoil me." Selina asks.
"Let's just say… his origins ascend humanity."
"What the fuck does that even mean. Ugh, besides that. You're lucky to have such an incredible, pretty, and intelligent sister like me who would test play your game for free~"
"Free my ass. I promised to take you out for a meal later." Michael grumbles
"Why make it later when it can be now? Plus, I'm starving. I need to get my mind off of mister Troye-doucheface."
"You're going to drain me dry. I hope Troye gets you again and by the way, it's Troye Amister" Michael groans.
…..
"You really sucked me dry, ouch." Michael complains
"Skill issue, it's not my fault you're broke. Be a good older bro and feed me once in a while." Selina replies with a cocky smirk.
"Shut up."
"Tsk, whatever~ Moving on, so, Troye Ami-whatever, Noah Starkirt, and Alister Von Jinx are the male leads right?" Selina questions.
"Yeah, I'm thinking of coding more leads later." Michael answers.
"Fix the bugs before adding in more. Don't bite off more than you can chew."
"Ugh, don't remind me. I'll fix the bugs, also, what do you think about the duke's younger sister, Amelia?" Michael suddenly asks.
"Amelia? I feel kind of bad for her. Pretty cruel of you to make her have a crush on the protagonist only for her not to be a love interest. And she got killed by her own brother! Half-brother, but still, ouch." Selina responds.
"Pretty cruel life, I was thinking of you when I wrote and designed her."
"I should get a cut of the revenue from you making me a cannon fodder."
"Also," Selina said, shoving her hands into her hoodie pocket. "If Troye is the psycho, does that make Alister the himbo?"
Michael snorted. "Alister is a complex character. Just because his shirt falls off half the time doesn't mean—"
A sharp clatter from the shadows cut him off.
"Did you hear that?" Selina asked, stopping in her tracks.
"Probably just a stray cat," Michael muttered, but his voice wavered.
The next moment, a figure emerged from the alley, clutching a knife.
"Michael," the person rasped, their voice trembling. Their eyes locked onto him with a crazed intensity. "You thought you could ignore me?"
Michael froze, his face going pale. Selina stepped in front of him instinctively, her heart pounding. "Hey, back off!" she shouted.
The stalker lunged.
Time seemed to slow as the blade came down. Selina shoved Michael aside, her body moving on its own. Pain blossomed in her side, sharp and all-consuming.
She collapsed to the ground, her vision blurring. Michael's voice was distant, panicked, calling her name over and over.
I'm… dying, she thought, her mind spinning. Did I really just die protecting this idiot who made a BL game about dog boys?
Her lips twitched into a weak smile at the absurdity of it all. Darkness consumed her.
.....
Selina woke with a gasp, her chest heaving as she sat up in an unfamiliar bed. Satin sheets, golden chandeliers, and towering windows greeted her. She blinked, disoriented, her hand flying to her side.
No wound. No blood. Just smooth, unbroken skin.
"Where… am I?" she whispered.
A knock at the door interrupted her thoughts. A maid entered, curtsying deeply. "Lady Amelia, your brother, the Duke, requests your presence."
Selina's stomach dropped. The memories came rushing in—the characters, the setting, the game.
She wasn't Selina Ashton anymore.
She was Amelia Amister.
