Chapter 2 - Chapter One : The Day Before Wedding

"She wasn't fragile like a flower,

She was fragile like a bomb."

- unknown

Mia's POV

"I was in love, from the moment when we met for the first time. The moment is so magical that it's still imprinted in my mind," Christopher, my so-called fiancé says, looking at me with a smile, "From that moment, I decided to become a man who would be worthy of you. Thank you for choosing me. I promise to love you until my last breath."

Our family members claps hearing his so-called fake speech. I smile and reply, "I also promise to make our wedding day, the most memorable day of your life."

He fakes a smile and then pecks my cheeks, the small touch of his lips makes me gag. I try to fake my smile, but soon he leaves when one of his friends calls him. Others start to talk among themselves.

Our wedding rehearsal is in full swing. Most of the family members have come a day before to participate in the wedding rehearsals. Other important guests will come on the wedding day. Sarah is doing all the wedding preparations for me. From the destination to the wedding dress, as if it's her wedding, not mine.

But who cares? This is more fun. I wonder what will be your reaction when you realize that all your sweet plans are going to fail.

My phone vibrates, and I take it out to see. Seeing the number, I move away from the crowd. I decided to go the backyard as there wouldn't anyone right now.

"Speak,"

"Everything is in order." Darren, my secretary says without wasting any time as soon as he hears my voice. I smirk hearing that, "Good, I will see you in a bit then."

"Then I will prepare everything before your arrival," Darren says before I cut the call.

I lean against the wall and let out a sigh. I know whatever I'm planning is going to change my life as well as Trevor's. But I have no other option, this is my only way to get out of this marriage as well from this crazy family. I will not let them ruin my life any further. They have done enough already.

If they think, they can break me by making doing all those things, then they are utterly wrong. I'm not a pawn in their game, but the mastermind. Let's see Mother and Sarah, who wins the game? Shall we?

"Christopher, why did you bring me here?"

"I want to kiss you. Can I?"

I come to my senses when I hear two familiar voices. Damn, this is the worst! Why are they here? There are so many rooms in this damnned house, and they come to the only place where I am trying to take a breather.

Are they fucking nuts? They are making out, in the backyard where anyone can come. Aren't they afraid of getting caught?

Probably not. I'm sure everyone knows about them. It's not a secret that how close they are! Even if someone catches them, they will probably pretend that they haven't seen anything. Here, everyone is on either Sarah's side or Christopher's side. No one will take my side here.

Even though I can't see them, I can still hear the sound of smooches, huffs, and moans. It's not the first time I have seen them like this yet I feel my stomach churning with nausea and disgust. I can feel my blood pressure rising with every passing minute, just because of their mere presence.

"Where are you going?" Sophia Kingstone, my mother asks, as she sees me going out, "Tomorrow is your wedding. I hope you are not planning to ruin it anyway." She says, in a calm yet fierce tone.

I know she only wants me to marry Christopher because it benefits her most. I don't know how it benefits her, but I know she has her agenda. Even after knowing, Christopher and Sarah are sleeping together, she wants me to go ahead with the wedding.

After all, she doesn't care about me at all. She only cares about Sarah, her legitimate daughter. Still, I am also her blood and her daughter — even if I am a Illegitimate child.

I wonder how can a mother ask her daughter to do something like this. Although our relationship isn't like other mother-daughter relationships.

"Of course! Why would I do that?" I say, with a fake smile, "I know this wedding is for my benefit. I'm only going to pick up Nick. You know, you won't come if I don't pick him up."

"Nick?" She mutters his name with a displeased expression, "I thought he was not going to attend your wedding."

"Why wouldn't he be? He's my only brother and your son," I say, with a fake smile. She grits her teeth in anger.

Nicolas Kingstone, my step-brother and my step-father's Illegitimate child. Nick is the one of the reason why she brought me in her household is to spite her husband. It was her way of revenge, because he brought his Illegitimate child into their marriage and house without her permission.

Or else she wouldn't have cared whether I was alive or not. Even though, in front of the world, they pretend to be the perfect couple but in reality, their marriage is a utter mess.

She didn't even care about her daughter's feelings when she took me in just because she wanted to spite her her husband. They even managed to hide our real identities from the world by saying that they had adopted us — which is a half lie.

Nicolas is the only one who was adopted into the family as he's a Kingstone. I, on the other hand, is only adopted in name. There was never a legal process of my adoption— which I believe is a good thing for me, at least.

"Even if you don't like Nicolas, still you should pretend to be a good step-mother or else your mother-in-law won't be happy knowing that you excluded her grandson from the wedding." I lean down to her face, and with a hardened expression, I whisper, "If you keep acting out like this, she might do what you are afraid of."

She tries her best to remain calm, but I can see her shaking with anger. She knows she can't fight with her mother-in-law who has all the power. She left me and my dad and married this man just because of money and power. Still, she's struggling to have the upper hand in the household.

"Okay, fine. Come back as soon as possible. If you do something else then remember you will not be spared." She threatens in a cold voice, which makes her feel nothing but disgust.

Of course, she doesn't trust me at all. Neither do I.

I nod my head, and she then leaves. I let out a heavy sigh and walk up to my car, there are only two reasons why she believes let me go. One, she knows how much I care for Nick and two, she doesn't care much who picks him up.

I get in the car and smirk, "I wonder what will happen when they will realize that the wedding is called off. Probably it'll be too late."
