It was known to Gavin that, in the end, the House Tyrell did not win the war. They were only stranded outside Storm's End for over a year, until Robert Baratheon defeated Rhaegar Targaryen and ascended to the Iron Throne, which marked the end of the conflict.

Originally, King Aerys II Targaryen, to whom the Reach had sworn allegiance, was slain by his own Kingsguard, and his former enemy swiftly ascended to power. Meanwhile, House Tyrell had laid siege to the royal family's ancestral seat for an entire year, forcing the king's younger brother to survive on rats within the castle.

It was evident that, in the near future, House Tyrell would have to make swift efforts to repair its relationship with the Iron Throne. Given the unfolding events, it was clear that the war was nearing its conclusion.

Soon, Lana returned holding a small jar of goat's milk. She first pinched Gavin's face affectionately, then handed him the goat's milk. She then squatted down and gently kissed his soft little cheek.

Although Gavin felt embarrassed, he had no choice but to pretend to be a child and accept it silently. After all, she not only paid him for the salt but also gave him extra food. From what Gavin knew, the forty-year-old tavern keeper Lana still had no children of her own, so he could understand her actions.

On the way home, Gavin's thoughts wandered as he reflected on the story of this world.

Yes, Gavin had figured out three years ago that the world he had entered was the same one as the TV show "Game of Thrones" he had watched in his previous life.

At first, he thought this was a medieval period in a parallel world, until three years ago when the castle servants were gossiping.

Robert Baratheon of Storm's End, alongside Eddard Stark of the North, Hoster Tully of the Riverlands, and Jon Arryn of the Vale, had jointly rebelled against the Iron Throne. These familiar names and families instantly sparked memories of Gavin's past.

It was at this time that his uncle, Edmond Cotstayne, responded to the call and led his troops to Highgarden. Based on the timeline, the war would soon be over.

Knowing the direction of the plot, Gavin secretly began planning his own future. With the advantage of foresight, he wondered whether he could attach himself to a powerful individual in the future, thereby shedding his status as a bastard—an identity that brought him constant disdain—and instead become a respected noble lord.

Just like in the story, where like Borron was originally just a mercenary of humble origins but ended up being granted the title of Lord.

Moreover, Gavin possessed knowledge and skills far beyond the current capabilities of this world. He was certain that, with these advanced and unique attributes, he could carve out a path to amass a great fortune.

Additionally, there was one more area that interested Gavin deeply: Magic. Magic was undeniably real in this world, and judging by his current situation, Gavin already had the potential to wield magic.

He wondered, in the future, could he find a way to systematically learn magic, and when the Red Comet arrived, could he grow even more powerful, seeking greater strength and unlocking more mysterious, transcendent secrets? He felt a great deal of anticipation and longing for all of it.

Suppressing his scattered thoughts, Gavin carefully held the small jar of goat's milk and quickly made his way back home. Inside the house, his mother lay weakly on the bed, coughing in a way that seemed to shake her entire chest. Upon seeing Gavin, she forced a smile despite her discomfort and greeted him.

Shortly after, his mother struggled to sit up, her voice hoarse as she said, "We should begin our lessons." From beneath the bed, she retrieved a small wooden box and took out a book. The cover of the book was worn and the paper was made of sheepskin.

A year ago, his mother had begun teaching him some unusual words and languages. Recently, this teaching had become more frequent and systematic. But strangely, these characters and languages weren't part of the common tongue of Westeros.

Gavin had secretly speculated that this language might belong to Essos, since his mother was from there. Despite his curiosity, he understood the value of knowledge and believed that learning a new language could never be a bad thing, so he never pressed her for answers.

In the evening, Gavin completed his lessons. Alice looked at her intelligent son, who had learned to read and write High Valyrian in just one year. Her eyes held an indescribable look as she subconsciously touched the pendant on her chest.

The pendant was unique, intricately carved from bone. Its shape was an elegant, rounded oval, smooth beneath the fingers yet imbued with a subtle, enigmatic chill. and on its surface was a prominent six-pointed pattern, peculiar and arcane, as though it harbored ancient, profound secrets or embodied a symbol of potent, mysterious power. Alice's expression grew more resolute as she touched the pendant, seemingly having made a decision.

Alice's fingers glided gently through Gavin's silver hair, her expression tender and serene. In a soft, lilting voice, she asked, "Gavin, have you ever heard of Valyria?"

Gavin was stunned. Why would his mother suddenly bring up this question? However, recalling the story he knew, he thought for a moment before responding, "I've heard the Maester at the castle mention it. Before the Doom, the Freehold of Valyria was extremely powerful, with forty dragonlord families ruling together. They had thousands of dragons and conquered most of Essos. But after the Doom, all the dragonlord families perished except the Targaryens. Even though the Targaryen family was only a small, peripheral family among the forty, they managed to conquer Westeros with the strength they inherited."

Gavin, filled with curiosity, gazed at his mother's silver hair and violet eyes. As he thought of his own similar features, a vague suspicion began to take root in his heart. Tentatively, he asked, "Mother, why do you ask me this question?"

Alice's expression instantly turned serious. She looked at Gavin and said solemnly, "Gavin, after the Doom, it wasn't just House Targaryen that survived. Many other dragonlord families also survived. However after the Doom, all the dragons outside died one after another for unknown reasons. During the subsequent Bloody Era, several city-states rebelled, and many of the dragonlords who lost their dragons were killed by slaves in revolts. Only House Targaryen, hiding on Dragonstone, managed to survive."

Gavin's eyes widened in astonishment as he looked at his mother, disbelief etched across his face. Yet deep within, he found himself yearning for his suspicions to be confirmed, silently waiting for her to continue her tale.
