Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Bitter Grudges Part 1

After their steamy encounter, Li Wei pulled away from Lady Chen Xi and stood, sweat glistening on his toned body. He let out a satisfied sigh, his gaze lingering on her with a mix of appreciation and detachment. "You certainly know how to relieve a man's stress, Lady Chen Xi. I'm impressed."

Still catching her breath, Lady Chen Xi offered an alluring smirk. "I only aim to please, Hero Li Wei. If you desire more, I'm happy to oblige." The Liu clan Matriarch had no qualms partaking in more debauched activities with Li Wei, considering the benefits that were on the table.

Li Wei chuckled, but inwardly, post-nut clarity tempered his thoughts. 'As pleasant as that was, I shouldn't encourage her too much. Women like her tend to get... ideas.' The thought of further quenching his desires certainly came to mind, but as a proper Young Master he could not afford to be submerged in lustful activities endlessly.

"As tempting as that offer is, I must decline for now. Rest is what I need most. Perhaps I'll call on your services again when the time comes." Li Wei replied with a firm tone that left little room for argument, it was after all in his best interests to meditate and ease his mind.

Though a flicker of disappointment crossed her face, Lady Chen Xi masked it quickly, sitting up with poise. "Of course, Hero Li Wei. You are always welcome to seek me out." A woman of her experience knew the dangers of pestering a man for attention, as a person that had been in wedlock for nearly two decades

Turning his back to her, Li Wei focused on dressing, deliberately avoiding the sight of her alluring form. "As you leave, inform my escort to come in," he said casually, crafting his words to avoid outright dismissal. This was still the Liu clan and the woman before him was still a Matriarch, a bit of curtesy had to be observed.

Lady Chen Xi hesitated, briefly disappointed by the indirect suggestion to leave. However, Li Wei's vague promise of future attention pacified her. Without protest, she rose and began collecting her garments.

As he adjusted his robe, Li Wei reached into his spatial ring and retrieved a single heaven-grade elixir. Though he flaunted wealth and generosity in public, his private dealings were far more calculated. 'No point in wasting extravagant resources on a woman I've already had,' he mused.

Li Wei purposely chose to pick a heaven-grade elixir that tailored toward cleansing the body, something many female cultivators took very seriously. For most cultivators, the particular heaven-grade elixir he chose helped to cleanse the body of impurities and clear blockages in the meridians, which in turn helped in advancing to the higher realms.

In a lower world like the Azure Sky World, such an elixir was definitely of high value, so he felt it was more than adequate. Approaching her as she slowly dressed, arching her back deliberately to flaunt her curves, he observed the scene with the elixir in his grasp.

'She's really good at this,' Li Wei thought, but didn't comment on it, knowing full well that it was just bait to entice him a bit more. "Did you come to see me out?" she asked.

Li Wei chuckled and nodded. "Yes, it would be rude to let my gracious host walk out alone and with nothing despite showing me such great hospitality." He chose his words very carefully, making sure that Lady Chen Xi understood the pretext for bestowing her such a gift.

Lady Chen Xi accepted the elixir with a practiced bow, her fingers trembling slightly at the potent aura radiating from the item. Heaven-grade! she marveled inwardly but kept her expression composed. "You are too generous, Hero Li Wei. Even without this, I am always at your service."

Li Wei smirked, recognizing the bold flirtation wrapped in politeness. "The rest of the Liu clan could learn much from your hospitality, Lady Chen Xi." As a transmigrator, Li Wei had never met a woman with looks of this caliber behave this submissively.

"You flatter me," she replied smoothly, though her eyes lingered on him a moment longer before she exited.

Meanwhile, in Crescent Moon City's bustling market, Jia Lin, Mei Yue, and Ning Xue strolled through the vibrant streets, accompanied by Zhou Wen and several Liu clan elders. Laden with containers and baskets, the elders drew curious glances from onlookers, who whispered among themselves.

"Isn't that Elder Wen? Why is he carrying packages like a servant?" The onlooker observed the scene with widened eyes clearly shocked by the manner this prestigious elder of the Liu clan, acted with utmost respect in the midst of the trio of maidens.

"Yes, I'm familiar with that old man. He's a very respected member of the Liu clan and the city," one contributed. Another focused his attention on Jia Lin, Mei Yue, and Ning Xue. "They seem to be carrying items for those three women. Why do they have so many elders from the Liu clan carrying packages for them like servants? Who are they?"

"I've heard rumors about those women. Are they really powerful enough to command the Liu clan's elders?" The events that took place after Li Wei's sudden arrival in Crescent Moon City had spread like wildfire, which left many pedestrians wondering about the background of such a fearless character.

At the front of the group, Ning Xue scanned the shops and restaurants, occasionally consulting Zhou Wen for recommendations. They had already acquired the finest offerings from the city's major establishments, yet a significant portion of their spirit stones remained unspent.

"We can't return with so many stones left," Ning Xue murmured to Jia Lin. "It would seem greedy." The two looked helpless in the face of Li Wei's vast wealth, which allowed to enter and exit any establishment the city had to offer without worry of exhausting their savings.

As she pondered their next stop, a sharp voice cut through the market's din.

"You treacherous wench!" A young man stormed forward, sword drawn, his eyes bloodshot with rage. Ning Xue's gaze hardened as she recognized him. "Shen Mu," she said coldly.

Anyone who had been present at the scene back at the pavilion where Li Wei met the three would recognize the young man as one of the victims who had his women stolen from him by Li Wei.

"You dare act innocent?" Shen Mu snarled, pointing his blade at her. "After everything I did for you? After I saved you from the Slithering Hill Bandits, this is how you repay me? Running off with that pretentious flower boy?"

Crossing her arms, Ning Xue responded icily. "I've thanked you more than once for your help, but that does not mean I owe you anything."

"Shameless!" Shen Mu roared, trembling with fury. He looked ready to strike when another voice interrupted.

"What's the meaning of this commotion?"
