The celestial palace of Atheris pulsed with tension. The air was thick , as though every
breath could cut through silence laden with anticipation, all eyes were on her, Queen Lira, a creature of ruthless beauty and deadly power, a being woven from stardust and moonlight who seemed more myth than reality.
Queen Lira lounged on her throne lazily as she stared at her subjects strangely, exuding a level of apathy that only made her seem more formidable. They are back to persuade her about going to the human world to look for her human husband.
Isn't the diety playing pranks on her? A whole queen of the Fae and the Faes having a human king and husband.
The prophecy said he is the only one that can protect the kingdom of the Faes. Sounds so funny. A human protecting spirits? 'Protect the kingdom?' It sounded so ridiculous when Lira thought about it. She has been ruling the Fae kingdom since she was 15 and that was 115 years ago. And she has always conquered and won all the wars they faced. So now they want a male leader to protect them? Ungrateful Faes!
"My Queen! Please consider our request and follow the prophecy! The diety said you must bring your husband and our king who is a human back to the Fae kingdom so he can rule over us and protect the kingdom. Please consider your people´s plea Your Majesty." Thalos, one of the advisors pleaded with a deap bow.
"Please consider your people's plea Your Majesty! The other subjects chorused following Thalos lead.
"Hahaha Hahaha Haha" Queen Lira laughed hysterically and in a strange manner that sent shivers down her subjects spine.
"I have a question for you people" Lira said as she slowly rose fron her throne. She was
devastatingly gorgeous, her pale skin catching the light in a way that gave her an
otherwordly glow, as if she herself were crafted from moonbeams.
The subjects trembled slightly as she walked closer to them. Her immaculate white dress trailed after her as she walked towards them slowly.
"Since i started ruling this kingdom, have we lost any battle?"
"No your majesty" They all answered solemnly.
A soft mocking chuckle escaped her lips.
"So, why do you people think i need a man to protect my kingdom? You think a man can tame me? You think my realm depends on a....man?" The disdain in her voice was palpable. Her gaze driftzed over them, eyes
narrowed with amusement. "Tell me, why should i , who has held this throne withiout rival, heed whispers about a mortal? A human, no less."
Her councillors exchanged uneasy glances. They all know how dangerous and powerful their queen is but they have to follow the prophecy that said it's the queen`s soulmate that is destined to amplify her strength and secure Atheris survival.
Thalos cleared his throat, choosing his words carefully. "Your Majesty, it's foretold that your union with a mortal will seal a bond of unparalled power, a protection the kingdom has ever known. Without him, our enemies will find strength to breach our borders. Only with him can our realm withstand the forces amassing against us."
Lira's eyes sparkled with a dangerous mix of boredom and annoyance. She raised a perfectly arched eyebrow, her gaze piercing.
"And if i refuse?"
The crowd fell silent. Even her loyal subjects knew better than to question her will, yet
today, fear overpowered loyalty. The prophecy was clear, without the soulmate, trouble awaits Atheris.
Finally, a bold young Fae warrior met her gaze. Then he spoke up. "Your Majesty, then
doom might befall Atheris and our realm might fall. The dark forces senses our
vulnerability."
Her gaze held his for a long time, before she let our an exasperated sigh, as if the notion of a soulmate was beneath her.
Finally, she spoke, her tone as icy as ever. "Very well. I shall go to the human realm, but
don't think it's for 'finding love' or 'fulfilling destiny' I am merely going to the human realm to have some fun, bring your King for you and amuse myself a little. I will be going
tomorrow morning when the sun starts rising."
"Thank you, Your Majesty." They all chorused as they gave a deep bow.
"Now leave me." She said while waving a dismissive hand.
The subjects and advisors quietly left leaving the Queen alone in the hall.
After the last subject left, Queen Lira stood up from her throne with a sigh. She couldn't kill the curiosity lingering in her heart, since this man is as powerful as the prophecy said, then she will satify her curiosity and visit the human world.
As she entered her chambers, she went directly to the front of her large crystal mirror. She examined her reflection, assesing her own beauty with a critical eye, as if seeing herself for the first time. Her silvery hair shimmered, her eyes as fierce as her spirit. Beautiful was an undestatement, she was unearthly untouchable. The idea of such a being destined for a mere human was almost laughable.
Yet that curiosity persistented, tickling the edges of her consiousness.
