Life is really boring.
In my entire life, I have never come across someone who says, "My life is the best." Yet, there are people who confidently say, "I am living my life to the fullest."
In my opinion, those are the people who have something and someone to live for. By "something," I mean money, and by "someone," I mean a loving family. These two things are the greatest blessings any person could hope for, and they make life worthwhile.
But what if you have a decent amount of money and a loving family, and yet your life feels devoid of thrill and excitement? What would you do?
Yes, you guessed it right—my life is really boring.
My name is richard , and I am a college student who finds life unbearably dull. I have always been like this. Even as a child, I couldn't find that thrill in life that those fancy writers rave about in their books.
As I grew up, my boredom grew with me. In this dull existence, I have never found anything that makes my heart race or fills me with excitement.
obviously my life has its fair share of problems, By problems, I mean concerns about a job, a stable career, and a love life. but they are not that overwhelming which i can not face on my own
However, amidst all of this, I finally found something that brought me joy and made my heart feel alive. That something was the world of fantasy.
i started watching anime, the excitement it brought me was special. Every time my favorite character had a power-up, it gave me a sense of thrill that I had been missing. When a beloved character died, I felt a sadness that covered my heart.
For the first time, I had found something I could truly enjoy. But just as I thought I had discovered my passion, the boredom started to creep back. There are countless anime out there, but not all of them are engaging.
Soon, I transitioned to reading manga and manhwa. The thrill returned as I delved into these fantasy worlds. Eventually, I realized that novels were the foundation of this universe and one of the best things I could hope to find.
For the past three years, I have been reading different novels. Currently, I am engrossed in a fantasy novel set in a world where everyone can use mana. It's the classic hero-versus-demon-king story, but the world-building and attention to detail by the author hooked me instantly.
"Holy shit, the author really went god mode with the last chapter," I exclaimed after finishing it.
Now that I've completed this novel, I feel a strange emptiness. I had been reading it for the past three months. It had a total of 2,099 chapters. When I first started, I found it boring because of the slow pacing, but now that I've finished, I realize how wrong I was.
"Anyways, I should grab something to eat," I thought. Changing into casual clothes, I decided to head to the convenience store.
While walking there, I heard someone scream from a back alley. Curious and concerned, I walked toward the sound and saw two men holding knives, threatening a teenage girl. For a moment, I thought of turning back and continuing on my way. After all, this kind of thing happens in this alley often, and let's face it—I'm not some hero who can take on two grown men armed with knives.
But then a thought struck me: What if that was my sister? Would I walk away then? The answer was a resounding no. Realizing this, I sighed at my own mindset and muttered, "I'm pretty sure this kind of ridiculous thinking is going to get me killed one day."
Determined to help, I looked around for something to use as a weapon for my safety. After a few moments, I spotted a metal rod lying in the corner of the street. It was the best I could hope for.
While reading countless novels, my interest was piqued by the art of swordsmanship. Driven by this newfound fascination, I decided to learn Kendo from a professional. To some, this might sound ridiculous, but I truly enjoyed practicing Kendo, immersing myself in its movements and discipline. The thrill and excitement were undeniable—until, eventually, the rush faded, and the intensity of it all diminished.
"Let's go and be a hero for once," I said, gripping the rod tightly.
One thing I didn't realize was that this single decision would change my life forever.
