In the morning of August 4, Prime Minister Jeremy Oswald of Sulliva announced a state of war against the neighboring country, Al-Nour, following the Khalifate's declaration on the night of August 3, 2528 GE.
In Oswald's address to the capital on August 4, 2528 GE at High Rise, Kraft City, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of safeguarding the sovereignty and security of the people of Sulliva, and would not dare to wage war with the neighboring country contrary to the allegations of violating international laws set up by the Coalition Group.
The ongoing friction between Sulliva and Al-Nour centers around competing territorial claims and political influence in the border regions. The "Red Line Accord," established in 2499 by the Coalition Group, aimed to prevent large-scale conflict by designating a neutral "Battlefield Zone" along the Koros River, where military activities were to be limited.
However, on the night of June 6, 2528 GE, Al-Nour intelligence reported unexpected troop movements from Sulliva in this neutral zone. Armed militants from Sulliva, believed to include Balkan Extremists and Deviant Soldiers, crossed into Al-Nour territory, claiming they were pursuing rebel forces that had attacked its neighboring city Khareem, which is under the territory of Al-Quadra, a state of Al-Nour, resulting in significant destruction, including damage to the local Citadel.
The ensuing battle was devastating, leading to the loss of around 1300 Al-Quadra citizens and 470 infrastructures. Al-Nour condemned Sulliva for an unprovoked invasion, accusing them of violating the Red Line Accord. In defense, Sulliva's Secretary of Defense Celestine Palma of the Sovereignty Management and International SecuriTy Headquarters, pointed to a known threat from Al-Nour-allied paramilitary groups that had previously engaged in violence against them, including the massacre in Kurtz 17 years ago, was the same group that the Monarchy was pursuing in Khareem but claimed that an attack was never made, and allegations of Balkan Extermists and Deviant Soldiers were dismissed by the Secretary of Defense.
The Khalifate's Deputy Secretary, General Abbas bin Badrudeen, denounced Sulliva's actions as overt aggression and later, the High Sultan Abraham Al-Malik formally declares war on August 3, 2528 GE. In response, Prime Minister Oswald declared a state of emergency the following day and mobilized troops along the border, warning of immediate aggression if Al-Nour did not withdraw the Royal Army forces in Khareem.
Currently, Khareem has closed its borders including trading centers while the investigation headed by the Coalition Group is still on going. The situation continues to evolve, and diplomatic initiatives by the Coalition have so far been ineffective, leaving both nations on high alert while avoiding direct confrontation for now.
