Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Zarzock's Demonic Return

Scene 1: The Confrontation Begins

Yaxoc and Haven stepped into the scene, the air thick with an ominous energy. Standing before them was Zarzock, surrounded by a sinister, crimson aura that pulsed like a heartbeat.

Yaxoc scowled, fists clenched. "What the hell are you hiding, Zarzock?" he shouted, his voice echoing with tension.

Zarzock turned to face them, his lips curling into a malevolent smile. "Ah, you've come back," he said, his tone mocking. "While you were busy chasing shadows, I used my energy magic to keep you distracted. Meanwhile, I was making a deal with Lucius." He paused, letting his words sink in before his expression twisted with fury.

"But then I realized... THAT. WAS. USELESS!" Zarzock roared, his voice reverberating like a thunderclap. "I betrayed him. Broke the deal. Took back my own soul. And now..." His red-glowing fists ignited with fiery energy, casting eerie shadows across his face. "Now, I wield my own demonic power."

Haven raised an eyebrow, arms crossed. "And he just let you walk away?"

"Precisely," Zarzock replied with a grin. "Lucky for me, I dealt with the right devil. If it had been that bastard Ogamak, I'd be nothing but ash by now." He glanced at his glowing hands, the power coursing through him intoxicating.

"You have no idea how much I love this," Zarzock said, his voice dripping with malice. "And the destruction I'll bring with my full power… it'll be beautiful."

Yaxoc stepped forward, his fists now glowing with a brilliant yellow energy. He dropped into a fighting stance, his determination burning brighter than Zarzock's sinister aura.

"What are you doing?" Haven asked, her tone laced with concern. "You see how much stronger he is now, right?"

"It doesn't matter," Yaxoc said firmly. "I'll finish him here and now."

Zarzock let out a deep, mocking laugh. "Don't you think you're rushing things? But if you're so eager to lose..."

"I'm going to end you, Zarzock!" Yaxoc yelled, charging at him with unrelenting force.

But before Yaxoc could strike, Zarzock vanished in a flash of crimson light. Yaxoc skidded to a halt, scanning the area. "Where is he?!"

Haven sighed and shook her head. "He's gone, you moron. Let's just go back."

Frustrated, Yaxoc growled under his breath but followed her as they left the battlefield.

Scene 2: A New Threat Emerges

Zarzock materialized in a dark, deserted alleyway, his grin widening. "Lucius was an idiot," he muttered, basking in his newfound power.

He walked with a swagger, but his confidence was interrupted as a dark spear hurtled toward him. Without missing a beat, he caught it midair, its sharp edge inches from his face.

Zarzock turned to see Yurgion emerging from the shadows, his expression cold and unyielding.

"So, it's you," Zarzock said with a smirk. "Come to collect on Lucius's deal, huh? And who sent you?"

"It doesn't matter," Yurgion replied, his voice icy. "What matters is that you've betrayed the deal, and now you'll pay the price."

Zarzock chuckled, flexing his glowing fists. "You really think you can stop me with that awakening of yours? Cute."

Yurgion raised his hand, summoning a barrage of 500 dark spears. They shot toward Zarzock at speeds faster than light.

But Zarzock was ready. He moved with inhuman reflexes, dodging the spears with ease. He conjured energy blasts to counter the rest, each impact blinding Yurgion with flashes of light.

In a blink, Zarzock teleported behind Yurgion and delivered a brutal punch to his back, sending him flying. Before Yurgion could recover, Zarzock appeared in front of him and landed a devastating kick to his jaw.

"Is this all you've got, Yurgion?" Zarzock taunted, leaping into the air. With immense force, he smashed Yurgion into the ground, the impact shattering nearby buildings.

Yurgion groaned as he struggled to his feet, scanning his surroundings. But Zarzock was already beside him.

"Enjoying the view?" Zarzock sneered before delivering a powerful blow to Yurgion's face, slamming him into the ground again.

Yurgion teleported away, reappearing to kick Zarzock's ribs. But Zarzock sidestepped effortlessly, countering with a vicious kick to Yurgion's head. He grabbed Yurgion by the hair, yanking him close.

"Pathetic," Zarzock said, his voice dripping with contempt. "You don't deserve that awakening if this is all you can do."

But then Yurgion began to laugh.

"What's so funny?" Zarzock demanded, narrowing his eyes.

Yurgion's form shimmered before crumbling into dust.

"What in the—?" Zarzock froze as an unseen force restrained him.

"You're wrong, Zarzock," Yurgion's voice echoed, his real form emerging from the shadows. His wounds had vanished, and his aura now burned with unmatched intensity. "I do deserve this awakening. Because unlike you, I earned it through strength."

Zarzock's eyes widened as Yurgion wiped the blood from his face, a deadly grin spreading across his lips. "And now, it's your turn to fall."

Yurgion's hand glowed with a shadowy light as he summoned jagged shards of dark glass, hurling them toward Zarzock with a flick of his wrist. Each shard sliced into Zarzock's body, drawing blood and forcing a groan of pain from him. With a surge of power, Zarzock broke free from the spell that had bound him.

"You think this is enough to stop me?" Zarzock sneered, brushing the blood from his lips. His aura flared as he clenched his fists. "If that's the game you want to play, fine. But don't cry when I use 50% of my energy!"

Yurgion smirked, his confidence unwavering. "Go ahead, traitor. Entertain me."

Zarzock let out a primal roar as his energy surged. A radiant yellow aura engulfed him, crackling with raw power. "Be grateful you've pushed me this far. It's a miracle anyone gets to see me like this!"

He lunged with blinding speed, aiming a devastating punch at Yurgion's face. But Yurgion countered with a conjuration of shadowy rabbits that leapt into the fray.

"Bunnies? Seriously?" Zarzock scoffed, effortlessly tearing through the creatures with his sheer speed. But one rabbit managed to latch onto his shoulder, its claws raking deep.

"Annoying pests—" Zarzock growled, hurling the rabbit away, but his distraction left him vulnerable.

Yurgion seized the moment, driving a brutal punch into Zarzock's gut. The impact sent Zarzock hurtling into the air. Yurgion leapt after him, delivering a crushing sledgehammer blow that sent Zarzock plummeting to the ground. The earth trembled as Zarzock's body crashed into it, leaving a crater.

"You bastard..." Zarzock groaned, spitting blood as he staggered to his feet. "Is that all you've got? Just some cheap shots and tricks? You're nothing but—"

Before he could finish, one of Yurgion's shadowy rabbits materialized behind him and tore his arm clean off.

"AHHH!" Zarzock screamed in agony, blood pouring from the wound.

Yurgion stepped forward, his tone icy and calm. "You're all bark and no bite, Zarzock. Do you even realize how insignificant your power is compared to mine?"

Zarzock's pained grimace twisted into a cruel, maniacal smile. "Oh, you think I'm finished?"

In a flash, his severed arm regenerated, the process grotesque and rapid. He lunged forward, grabbing Yurgion by the neck with an iron grip.

"YOU THINK I'M DONE?!" Zarzock roared, his voice echoing like thunder. "I'M FAR FROM DONE! IF YOU WANT A WAR, I'LL KILL YOU FIRST—THEN LUCIUS NEXT!"

Yurgion gasped for air, his hands clawing at Zarzock's unyielding grip. But before Zarzock could deliver the killing blow, a voice, cold and commanding, cut through the tension like a blade.

"That's enough."

Zarzock turned his head sharply, his glowing eyes narrowing as he spotted a figure stepping out of the shadows.

Ogamak.

The air grew heavier, oppressive with Ogamak's presence. His towering figure exuded an aura of absolute authority, his crimson eyes locked onto Zarzock with disdain.

"So, you've finally decided to show yourself," Zarzock said, his cruel smile returning. He released Yurgion, letting him collapse to the ground, and turned to face Ogamak fully.

"You betrayed our deal," Ogamak said, his tone cold and unyielding. "Now it's time for you to pay the price. Or..." He paused, his eyes narrowing. "I'll offer you a condition. A single chance to keep this power of yours—without facing the consequences. What's it going to be, Zarzock?"

Zarzock's grin widened, though the tension in his body betrayed his uncertainty. The battlefield grew silent, the weight of Ogamak's words hanging heavy in the air.

Zarzock stood defiantly, his cruel smile barely concealing the pain coursing through his body. "What offer could you possibly make to convince me, foolish demon?" he sneered, his tone dripping with arrogance. "I already have everything under control."

Ogamak's eyes narrowed, his patience razor-thin. Without a word, he raised a single finger and unleashed a concentrated beam of dark energy. The laser struck Zarzock's chest with devastating precision, forcing him to his knees.

"Don't test me," Ogamak said coldly, his voice reverberating with authority. He took a step closer, his gaze piercing through Zarzock like a blade. "Here's the offer, and it's not up for negotiation."

Zarzock groaned, clutching his smoldering chest, the pain making his breaths shallow.

"You're going to kill Yaxoc," Ogamak declared, his tone unwavering. "The daughter of Hight and his sister. I don't care if it's alive or dead, but you will eliminate him. That's my offer. In exchange, I'll ensure your demonic essence remains intact and free from danger. Do you understand?"

Despite the pain, Zarzock chuckled weakly, his voice hoarse but defiant. "You… you serious? Ha… ha… You're pathetic if you can't handle Yaxoc yourself."

Ogamak's expression remained impassive, though his aura grew heavier, suffocating the air around them. "You really want me to finish you off, don't you?" he said with icy calm. "Because your insolence is becoming a liability."

He crouched, leveling his crimson eyes with Zarzock's. "Listen closely. Yaxoc has been a thorn in my plans for far too long. His allies are just as troublesome. Marcus defeated Urioh, even when he used his Restricted Chromatic Presence. One of those meddlesome catgirls or that damned fragment convinced Luchis to abandon her role as our hunter, babbling about 'risk.'"

Ogamak's hand shot out, grabbing Zarzock by the collar and hoisting him up effortlessly. "And those fragments... they're more than just nuisances. Lucius hinted that someone stronger than all of them is connected to these fragments. If you can uncover the truth behind that, you might earn more than just the demonic essence you so desperately cling to."

Zarzock gritted his teeth but nodded slowly, unable to ignore the weight of Ogamak's threat.

"Good," Ogamak said, releasing Zarzock, who collapsed onto the ground. "But don't think for a second you have room to fail. You now have two missions: eliminate Yaxoc and investigate the fragments. And if I decide it's necessary, kill that girl traveling with him. Her Mastery 4 in angelic essence is an unacceptable threat."

Ogamak straightened, brushing invisible dust from his robes. "Fail me, and I'll erase you myself." His attention shifted briefly to Yurgion. "Yurgion, return to base."

Yurgion nodded and vanished in a swirl of shadows.

Ogamak turned back to Zarzock one last time, his tone colder than death itself. "Keep this in mind: your energy magic has potential, but potential means nothing if it's wasted. Don't make me regret tolerating your betrayal of Lucius."

With that, Ogamak disappeared, his form dissolving into darkness, leaving Zarzock alone in the desolate alley.

Slowly, Zarzock rose to his feet, his chest wound regenerating, though the sting of Ogamak's words lingered.

"Hmph," Zarzock scoffed, brushing dirt off his coat. "What does he think he is? Threaten me all you want, Ogamak. I'll do things my way, even if you try to pull my leash."

His lips curled into a sinister grin as he muttered to himself, "Killing Yaxoc… or that girl? That's a challenge I might actually enjoy. But Ogamak protecting Yurgion? It's almost as if he's playing favorites."

With a low chuckle, Zarzock clenched his glowing fists, his energy swirling ominously around him. "Let's see how this game plays out, demon. You're not the only one who knows how to pull strings."
