A long time ago,a catastrophe had struck the world. Out of no where known,a shadow plague came,it was awful and deadly,it affected both humans and beasts turning them into vicious things that would be satisfied by the sight of blood. Yes,they became mindless and wielded great shadow powers never seen before, and they killed in order to account for and satisfy the creator of the shadow plague's lust,Immortui, the god of death.
Still at that time, the powerless humans who knew of only magical beast weapons and nothing more for defending themselves, were on a constant hunt for beings that were considered evil and were blindly blamed that they brought the shadow plague, witches. Many were killed, but one, instead of growing hatred to the 'illiterate' humans, since she was somehow also a human, she was drove by pure ambitions. She grew stronger and became a force to reckon with in the fight against the shadow. When she grew older while still on war,she knew she would die sooner. So she created a big spell that took a toll on her. She made the Red heart and transfered her consciousness and all her powers, skills and elements to it. Then her body disappeared. The Red heart looked like a simple stone but it spread the witch's powers to all humans giving them a greater chance of winning the war. Out of this humans got powers like fire, wind, earth, darkness, necromancy and other more.
Indeed, humans won.
'Unfortunately',the stone limited the power that a human could hold,he or she would either have one ability,or a maximum of a combination of three abilities,in order to keep balance among them. The creation of the Red heart wasn't made public, but somehow it had spread like a simple rumor. The ones led by greed, instead of being grateful for the gift, they began searching for the stone so that they may acquire all the powers that the witch had. But so far,no one has found it.

Thick flashing dark clouds covered the whole night sky. Thunder and lightning crashed like never before and a powerful rain rushing down almost flooding the city,Unity city, that had gathered all humans across the entire earth into one place and under one system of government. It took a lot of effort, force and convincing for this to be achieved. This led to the creation of a huge number of rebellious gangs that caused a lot of insecurity and crime cases all over.
The city stretched out wide, occupying a space of about three continents. Yes, that's how big it was as the rest of the unoccupied lands were just oceans and thick forests. The city could even be seen from outer space.
The city was completely occupied by tall highly designed glass buildings for rich women and men,but at a certain location,on the outskirts of the city on the West, stood an abandoned warehouse three stories high.
It was in a poor condition as it had no windows, its roof was broken, the front main door was missing, and it was all dark inside.
On the middle floor, cuddled at a corner were two people,a boy and a girl. They had nothing else to warm themselves besides the thin blanket and their own bodies,as they slept on the cold concrete floor. Their breaths could be seen whenever they exhaled due to the chilly cold.
The boy made sure to hold the girl well so that she could be warm as she slept.
For him,he was unable to sleep. His mind was as dark as the room itself. Stress and depression filled him at an immense amount. Their nights are always long and tough, having lived like this for several years now. It was indeed personal for them to co-op with this kind of shitty life. Worse, they were still kids, like, really what did they do to deserve this bullsh*t?
'Why did it happen to us?'He thought,'Why did they target our parents? Now all I am left with is my little sister to look after. Our life was better before they even snatched all of our property and chased us away.'
He closed his eyes,as a thin stream of a cold tear came out of his left eye. He held himself back from crying, even though it happened like long ago,the chaos was still fresh in his mind. He slowly turned close to his sister's ear,and mummered.
'I promise you Wendy,'he said softly,' Tomorrow is going to be better. Am going to do something I never dreamt of. Please, just bare with me for a little while, and I promise to transform our lives and take you back to school. I promise to always be with you and do anything for you.'
With that,he slid out of the blanket and covered his sister properly. He stared at her for some time as she slept. He pulled back the mucus that dared to escape from his nose, and more tears streamed down his face seeing the condition of his dear sister.
"This is not how you were meant to live Wendy,"he said again,"I'll make it better for you soon."
He gently walked down the concrete stairs, barefoot. The immense cold of the floor pierced through his feet making him feel like he couldn't feel his feet anymore. They were freezing real fast. He bared the pain and walked down to the ground floor.
In front of him,was the open door space that allowed him to see the outside. The storm was still getting worse and worse.
He wore no heavy cloth besides the rugged blue trouser jeans, a red vest and a thin layer of soft black jacket that had no zipper. He pulled its hood to cover his head and walked out.
The wind was so strong that it threatened to lift up his body off the ground but he bared it all as he walked forward without stopping. He was soaking wet as he bared the cold and walked slowly in a certain direction. Soon enough he was already shaking and shivering as he sneezed relentlessly.
The street lights from this side of the city were lighting the area poorly with a dim orange glow, giving the area a strange action movie atmosphere.
After walking for a while past the tall buildings built of purely glass,he reached a certain distance where there was a junction. He took the road to the left and continued to walk for a while. Hours had passed while it was still raining and he was still walking. He felt weak, and could fall any time as the cold got the better of him.
At last,he approached a certain building built by rocks and was five stories high. It was well maintained and there were lights leaking out through the windows at the front side.
He walked to the gate, where there stood a muscular bald black man in a black suit, holding an AK 47. He also wore black eye shades.
For some moment, the guard stared at the young boy who had no shoes and just stood there silent, not even looking at him,but at the building.
"Hhm,get in." The man roared as he pushed open the gate letting the boy slowly pass. Technically, it's not that the guy knew who the boy was ,but with the way the kid looked,he instantly knew that he wanted a job. So he let him pass.
He walked past what looked like a parking area full of numerous sports cars parked in front of the building. He didn't even mind looking at them as he gazed at the main door walking towards it.
————————
Inside the specific building,a meeting was happening at a certain hall on the second floor. It didn't even look like a real meeting, rather,it was like a scolding and murder scene as a dead bloody body lay at one corner of the room. Creepy and gruesome that you could instantly vomit all your insides from the sight.
Ten men in black suits sat on the sides of a long rectangular table full of all kinds of food, with another man wearing a golden suit sitting at the top end,he was the boss.
All of his teeth were covered with gold metal,he had a ring on his left eyebrow. His short wild green hair was horrifying to the other men. On his left and right layed on the table, were two hatchets, stained with fresh blood. Probably from the guy lying dead at the corner.
"What do you mean that the operation failed?"He bombed at the others who were shaking with fear.
One of the men in black attempted to explain.
"B—boss,it was the military that had interfered with the transportation. A gun fire and a fight broke out as they seized the trucks. The eleven of us had barely managed to escape out of the twenty-five of our men who got killed. I believe that someone had set us up."
Mr Toad, the boss, was quiet for a moment. It was never a good sign when the boss went silent, and it was also not a good sign when he spoke.
Unexpectedly,he started laughing out loud, and out of nervousness, the others began to laugh, but then Mr Toad jumped out of his seat, took the hatchet that lay on the table beside him and yelled.
"Then you should have better been dead than returning here. Those equipments were more expensive than your puny virgin lives you piece of ugly shits!"
The hatchet was thrown at a high speed that the others never saw it coming. It flew past some of the men, chopping off one of the men's nose in its track, and struck the man who had explained the situation earlier on the head, killing him instantly.
Blood oozed from the wound where the ax was stuck, messing up the food that was on the table. Slowly, the man's body fell on the table, messing up everything with blood.
The one who got his nose chopped, didn't dare to show any form pain as he covered the wound on his face,a piece of the nose on top of his plate of food.
They were all shaking with fear but none dared to do anything stupid.
"Anyone else who wants to explain?"Mr Toad asked, but the men did not reply.
"I asked a question!"He picked up the second hatchet that lay on the other side beside him,but when he was about to throw it,a bang on the door was heard followed by a booming voice from outside the hall.
"Boss, there's this kid that wants to meet you!"
Mr Toad smiled as he put back the hatchet on the table —the men felt like the heavens just shone on them.
"Bring him!"Mr Toad boomed and the door was opened.
A tall man in a black suit escorted a boy inside. The boy had short spiky black hair, dark brown eyes that looked to have no life in them, and a fairly dark skin.
As they walked past the men on the table towards Mr Toad, the boy was frightened by the scene that he was witnessing. There was a dead man whose head was almost completely split in half by a hatchet, the food on the table was covered in blood, and one man had a piece of his nose on his plate. Not to mention the guy at the corner.
Though he felt sick at the sight,he decided to be strong and show no signs of discomfort.
"What's your name kid?"Mr Toad smiled at the boy.
"Gary Puck."He answered when the two reached where Mr Toad sat.
"And how can I help you ,nerd?"He asked.
Gary was quiet at first. The men in the room began praying in their hearts for the godsend-like kid—the boss never liked people who didn't reply quickly. They could even swear they saw a flash of grimace on his face when looking at the boy.
"I want to join the Black Ghosts Gang as a transporter."Gary replied when he remembered the condition of his sister and him.
"Oh really,"Mr Toad stood up and placed his right hand on Gary's shoulder,"Then we might have a new recruit. But you will have to first pass my single test."
