Chapter 18 - GENETICALLY TRANSFORMED CHILDREN BEGIN TO BE BORN

Aboard the Genesis, life had become something entirely different. Far from Earth and humanity, the ship had become home to a new generation. Children began to be born, no longer as the humans once known, but as a new lineage. Through genetic modifications made by an experimental project, these children were being born with traits that defied human comprehension. Their ears were more pointed, their noses slightly more narrow, and their fingers elongated in a graceful manner, almost as if they were preparing to explore a new world.

Over time, something even more extraordinary began to manifest. Some of these children were developing abilities that were previously thought impossible. Powers that seemed to come straight out of a science fiction story began to reveal themselves. Some could levitate, others could move objects with the power of their minds. It was as if human evolution had taken a leap into something more. Something unimaginable.

Among the children, there was a girl named Mara, with black hair and eyes that seemed to reflect the emptiness of space itself. She was one of the most advanced in terms of mental control. But one day, during a simple argument with another boy, Mara lost control. Her eyes glowed with an intense light, and a beam shot from her gaze. The power was so strong it pierced a wall in the ship's food deck, creating a huge hole in the reinforced glass.

"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to…" she exclaimed, her hands shaking in fear, unable to believe what she had just done.

Everyone in the room went silent. The damage was immense, and the source of the incident was a child. Stood, who had been watching from a distance, couldn't help but feel concerned. It was clear that, although they were human, these children were unlike any before. The Genesis, once a symbol of escape and survival, had now become a place where new forms of life were emerging.

This wasn't the only incident. Other children, like Ethan, began discovering that they had telekinetic abilities, able to move large objects with the power of their minds. Sienna, on the other hand, developed a completely different ability: her skin, once smooth, began to cover itself with iridescent scales. The change was subtle at first, but soon became striking, as depending on the light and environment, her skin would change color, adapting to her surroundings like a chameleon.

These modifications were becoming more and more evident. What started as a simple genetic change for space adaptation was transforming into something much bigger. Something Stood couldn't ignore.

Stood's concern grew over the days. These children, although endowed with incredible abilities, were unstable. The genetic modifications were affecting their minds and bodies in unexpected ways. It was clear that they needed training, a structure that would help them control their powers before something irreversible happened. But how could he train children with such powerful abilities?

It was then that Stood had an idea. To create a school, an academy, a place where these children could learn to control their abilities and understand what they were becoming. He not only wanted to prepare them for the future but also for the kinds of challenges that powers like theirs might face.

"We need to prepare them for the future. We can't just expect them to learn on their own. They need a system, a foundation of knowledge," Stood thought. "The Genesis can't just be a ship. It needs to be the cradle of a new humanity."

The creation of a school within the Genesis became Stood's top priority. He gathered a team of scientists, psychologists, instructors, and specialists from various fields to create a unique learning environment. The goal was not only to teach the children how to control their psychic powers but also to prepare them to become a cohesive team, capable of working together to solve any problem that might arise.

Within the school, training wasn't limited to mental development alone. The children underwent intense emotional and psychological control exercises. There were also combat and defense classes, adapted to their abilities. Each of the children possessed a unique power, and it was necessary for them to learn to use it not only to protect themselves but to protect others in case any threat arose.

Furthermore, Stood knew that as these children grew, their powers could become even more dangerous. He needed to ensure they were trained in combat teams, ready to handle the pressures that would come in the future. The new generation could be humanity's salvation or its downfall, depending on how they were trained and how they used their powers.

As the school took shape, Stood watched the children with a mix of hope and apprehension. They were developing quickly, both physically and mentally. But the challenges he faced were immense. How could he ensure that these children used their powers ethically? How could he control them when their abilities were so unpredictable?

It was clear to Stood that he was creating a new generation, but one that was no longer just human. They were beings with superhuman abilities, and the future that awaited them was uncertain. Even within the safety of the Genesis, he knew that at any moment, something could spiral out of control.

But there was no turning back. He had begun the journey of preparing these children for a destiny that, up until that point, was unknown. What would they become? And what would happen to the future of humanity? These questions hung in the air, with no clear answers.

But one thing was certain: Stood knew that the fate of the Genesis, and possibly all of humanity, was in the hands of these children.
