The shining sun had long risen ago. It's golden aura seeped into the lands of a mid-sized country. In this country, the culture was rich and the sense of friendship was in the air. The golden rays of light continued to fall upon a house, this house was dilapidated, nor was it really captivating to look at. To anyone in the country, it was just an ordinary middle class family's home.
Inside one of the rooms, a youth who looked no less than 16 years old opened his eyes. He jumped out his bed and looked outside the room's window to look at the sun's light.
"Ahhhh crap! I'm gonna be late for school!!" His black hair which was unkempt would make anyone who saw him think he was homeless. He had an average face. However, he had slightly sharp facial features. His black eyes immediately opened the bedroom door to grab clothes, a neat school uniform, and a towel to get ready for a bath.
15 minutes later, the youth walked out, having tidied his hair and wearing the neat school uniform. He grabbed his smartphone from the top of a table to check his school section's group chat while his eyes darted towards one particular message.
"Attention!!
Today, the schedule will shift from the usual 7:30 A.M to 9:30 A.M.
—Teacher Jane"
The youth let out a sigh of relief as he looked at the time. It was 7:54 A.M, he smiled and laughed to himself.
"I should still get there quickly though, I can't let something like this happen again tomorrow."
With that, he grabbed his school ID, his lunch, and assignments that really needed to be submitted later. A familiar woman's voice came from the dining room. The voice was gentle, but it had a dominant aura.
"Are you not going to eat, Marcel?" It was very clear that this woman was the youth's mother. She had a special beauty that made the wrinkles on her face very unnoticeable.
"I'll eat breakfast when I get there, mom!" Marcel replied with a happy tone, he really did not want to provoke his mother. Thinking fast, he opened the front door that lead to the outside. Before this, he made sure to grab enough money to pay the fare to his school.
Marcel started to head to the Gallez Public Market, It was named Gallez because of one Mark Gallez, the former mayor of the Municipality of Pastores. It was said that he was a great mayor, and his numerous ordinances helped Pastores' living conditions improve significantly.
"Haha, I'm gonna strangle the photographer who took this picture." Marcel walked while holding the front of his school ID and said with a laugh and a sarcastic tone. In his defense, the picture taken made him extremely off, it also made his skin tone extremely saturated, like the sun was shining just a few meters away at that moment. On the ID was a name, "Marcel A. Davina."
Marcel had long passed by the Pastores Municipal Hall, and continued walking towards the public market. The reason why this was his destination was that a lot of jeepneys would wait here for passengers, whether they were going to the neighboring municipality of Dacora, or just the edges of Pastores. It didn't really matter to the drivers. Marcel had long let go of his school ID and was about to step inside the empty jeep.
However, his eyes were locked on a small piece of metal a short distance from his feet. It was a black coin, but it gave off an unexplainable luster, this coin gave off an almost alien-like feeling and didn't match any of the coins he had on his pocket.
It was not buried deep into the soil. At this moment, Marcel was standing on the sidewalk.
"What the hell? What kind of coin is that....?" As Marcel said this, his fingers already pried the mysterious coin from the damp earth and looked at it like his eyes contained the ability to pierce it.
If you look closely, the coin contained intricate patterns, and when Marcel held it up the sunlight, it had even more complicated patterns along with numerable contorted lines. While these appeared an illusory miniature version of a creature appeared at the center of the mysterious coin.
Marcel felt all his hairs stand like a concrete post while watching this, because he felt like something nearby was watching him. It felt like his entire body was held by cold hands with long fingers. His eyes immediately narrowed, his hands shaking while he looked at the coin. But after a few blinks, he mocked the black coin and put the coin away in a special compartment in his backpack. "Wow, what cheap manufacturing. I'll keep this coin though, haha." The feeling of being watched was immediately gone. He sat in the empty jeep, his heart beating so fast it could be used to power a generator. Five minutes later, the jeep was already full with passengers, it had no lack of old people, adults, and youthful students.
Marcel grabbed his phone from his pocket and checked the time, it was 8:20 A.M. He tried to keep his mind off what happened before. The jeep driver asked Marcel where he wanted to go. He replied, "Azure Green Academy, Dacora" while handing out 4 identical coins to the driver.
Not long after, the jeep gradually disappeared from the eyes of the Gallez Public Market.
Marcel looked at the rural landscape at the jeep window, he collected his thoughts to further analyze the scene that happened before. He was absolutely terrified.
The feeling back then felt like 1000 sharp spears were tickling the skin on his back, and he almost lost control of his knees from shaking due to fear.
"W-What the hell was that!? I only felt it when I analyzed the coin!" Marcel grabbed his backpack and delicately reached out his fingers to touch the black coin.
His eyes showed a hint of anticipation, and also preparation. But to his surprise, the feeling back then didn't happen again.
Marcel let out a sigh of relief, he closed the special compartment in his bag and decided to let it go temporarily. He continued to look at the beautiful view from the side of the vehicle, with anticipation for his destination.
In a particular house, far away from Gallez Public Market, and far away from the Municipality of Pastores as a whole. A house made of fragile wood stood centered in a forest, and the zinc roofing had signs of rusting. There were no lights from inside the house, it was completely dark.
Not many people went to this forest, mostly because the absurdly wide trees with thick branches and big leaves covered the forest floor and made the surroundings extremely dark. But the scarce few who did, didn't make it out in one piece. It didn't mean that they lost a limb or two, it's just that...
All of them went insane! There were no exceptions!
"Interesting, very interesting." The calm voice reverberated through the cold air of the forest. Following the voice's origin, there was a trickle of blood. The trickling blood was caused by the rusty edges of the zinc roof. On the edge of said roof sat a youth that looked no more than 16 years old.
He had skin as white as snow, but hair as black as coal. His black eyes shone with a calm light. He could be considered an extremely handsome teenager. He wore reading glasses that had a golden luster that wasn't restricted by the darkness of the forest.
The side of his hands were cut up by the rusty edges of the zinc roof, blood dropping.
But he didn't grimace in pain, or even reacted in any way whatsoever. His eyes were calm,
as his blood continued to trickle, and stared at the far reaches of the forest.
"I sense... another." The edges of his lips curled up, his eyes peering into the direction of Pastores. He let go of the rusted edge of the zinc roof, and stood up.
"Another I must control." The aura of his eyes immediately changed from the calm light to an indescribable one.
"How delightful." With a laugh, he stepped off the rusty edges of the zinc roof. Vanishing to the shadows below.
What happened next wasn't clear, only a loud thud and rustling reverberated through the sharp rocks on the forest floor, then silence.
