Chapter 1 - Welcome To The Internet

Sure! Here's Chapter 1 of *Virtual Love*:

---

**Chapter 1: The Accidental Message**

Kikidori sat slouched on his dorm bed, his black hoodie pulled over his head. His roommate, Yuki, was out somewhere, likely bossing people around or stalking his life. He relished the rare peace and quiet as he scrolled aimlessly through Instagram on his iPhone 16 Pro Max.

He was about to reply to his friend Hiro's story when his finger slipped. Instead of typing a quick "What's up?" to Hiro, he accidentally tapped on a random user's profile and sent, "Hi."

"Shit," he muttered, sitting up straighter. He stared at the screen, realizing his mistake. The username was unfamiliar: *DreamingSoul97.* No profile picture, just a blank image.

Seconds later, a response popped up.

"Hi... do I know you?"

Kikidori sighed. Well, no backing out now.

"Sorry," he typed quickly. "I meant to message someone else. My bad!"

"It's fine," the person replied almost immediately.

He hesitated. Something about the way the person replied intrigued him. He decided to go with it.

"So... who are you?" Kikidori asked, his curiosity piqued.

On the other side of town, Ere'ana stared at her phone, a brand-new Samsung S24+ Ultra, hesitating before typing her reply.

"Just someone who likes to keep things private. You?"

Kikidori chuckled at the irony. He felt the same way.

"Same here. Just your average guy."

The two began exchanging messages. They talked about their favorite music, hobbies, and the small, mundane things they shared about their lives online. Both of them avoided asking for personal details like pictures or locations, preferring the anonymity of their virtual friendship.

Hours passed without either realizing it. For Kikidori, this was refreshing—no Yuki breathing down his neck or trying to snoop on his phone. For Ere'ana, it was the most open she'd been with anyone in years.

"Okay, this is random," Kikidori typed, "but what if we just become online friends? No names, no faces, just vibes."

Ere'ana smiled softly, her fingers dancing over the keyboard.

"Deal. Virtual friends it is."

The night went on, and as the two laughed over their shared sense of humor and occasional sarcasm, something shifted. Kikidori found himself smiling more at his phone than he had in weeks. And Ere'ana, despite her constant insecurities, felt lighter, freer.

When it was time to finally sign off, Kikidori leaned back against the wall, staring at the ceiling.

"DreamingSoul97, huh?" he murmured to himself. "Who are you really?"

On her side, Ere'ana tucked herself under her blanket, her black hat still perched on her head.

"Who are you, ?" she whispered.

Neither of them realized that fate was about to make their worlds collide in ways they couldn't have imagined.
