Chereads / THE ANONYMOUS GIRL / Chapter 3 - FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL

Chapter 3 - FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL

As they stepped out of the car, 19-year-old Alex gazed up at the sprawling university campus, his eyes wide with wonder. His uncle, John, smiled knowingly, remembering his own college days."Wow, this place is incredible!" Alex exclaimed, taking in the mix of modern and historic buildings. John chuckled. "I told you it was impressive. This university has a rich history, and it shows in the architecture."As they walked through the campus, Alex marveled at the Gothic-style buildings, the grand clock tower, and the beautifully manicured lawns. John pointed out various landmarks, sharing stories about the university's past and its notable alumni. They stopped in front of the main library, a stunning example of modern design. Alex's eyes widened as he took in the sleek glass and steel."This is amazing!" he breathed. "I can already imagine spending hours studying in here."John smiled, pleased to see Alex so enthusiastic. "You'll have plenty of opportunities to do just that. And don't forget to explore the rest of the campus. There's a lot to discover here."

‎As they continued their tour, Alex felt a sense of excitement and belonging wash over him. He knew that this university was going to be an incredible place to learn and grow. After a while, John checked his watch. "I should probably get going, kiddo. You've got a lot to take care of before classes start."Alex nodded, feeling a pang of sadness. He was going to miss his uncle, but he knew that he was ready to start this new chapter of his life."Thanks for bringing me here, Uncle John," Alex said, smiling. "This place is amazing, and I know I'm going to love it here."John smiled back, ruffling Alex's hair. "I'm proud of you, kiddo. You're going to do great things here. Keep in touch, okay?"Alex nodded, watching as his uncle got back into the car and drove away. He took a deep breath, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation for the adventures that lay ahead.‎Alex stood alone on the bustling university campus, clutching his schedule and map in his hands. He had been walking for what felt like hours, but he still couldn't find the building where his first class was supposed to be. As a Nursing student, Alex was excited to start his journey in the science field, but his enthusiasm was quickly dwindling as he felt more and more lost. He had been so caught up in saying goodbye to his uncle, who had just dropped him off, that he had forgotten to ask for directions. Now, as he scanned the unfamiliar buildings and streets, Alex couldn't help but feel a pang of anxiety. What if he was late for his first class? What if he got lost again?

‎Just as Alex was starting to feel overwhelmed, he spotted a group of students walking towards him. They looked like they knew where they were going, and Alex decided to take a chance.

‎"Excuse me," he said, approaching the group. "I'm a new student here, and I'm having trouble finding my way to class. Can anyone help me?"One of the students, a friendly-looking girl with a warm smile, stepped forward. "What's your class?" she asked. Alex checked his schedule. "I'm supposed to be in Nursing 101, in the Science Building."The girl nodded. "I know exactly where that is. Follow us!"Alex breathed a sigh of relief as he followed the group to the Science Building. As they walked, the girl chatted with him, introducing herself as Emily and asking him about his interests and goals.By the time they reached the classroom, Alex was feeling much more at ease. He thanked Emily and the others for their help, and took a deep breath as he stepped into his first class. As he found a seat and began to listen to the professor, Alex couldn't help but feel grateful for the kindness of strangers. He knew that he still had a lot to learn, but with the help of people like Emily, he felt more confident that he could navigate this new chapter of his life.Alex sat nervously in his first Nursing 101 lecture, scanning the room for familiar faces. He had been looking forward to this class all morning, and he was determined to make a good impression. As the lecturer, Professor Thompson, began to introduce herself and the course, Alex felt his nerves start to settle. But then, just as he was starting to relax, Professor Thompson's eyes landed on him. "Ah, yes. You, in the back. With the blue shirt. What's your name?"

‎Alex's heart skipped a beat as he stood up, trying to composed himself. "I-I'm Alex, Professor."Professor Thompson smiled. "Welcome, Alex. I'm glad to have you in class. Now, I'd like to ask you a question. Can you tell me, what does nursing mean to you?"Alex took a deep breath, trying to gather his thoughts. But then, something clicked, and he began to speak confidently."Nursing, to me, means providing compassionate and holistic care to individuals, families, and communities. It's about using evidence-based practices to promote health, prevent disease, and alleviate suffering. Nursing is not just about administering medications or performing procedures, but about building relationships, advocating for patients' rights, and working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal outcomes."The room fell silent, and Alex felt his face grow hot with embarrassment. Had he said too much? But then, Professor Thompson's face broke out into a wide smile. "Wow, Alex. That's impressive. You've clearly done your research and have a deep understanding of the nursing profession. I'm glad to see that you're already thinking critically about the role of nurses in healthcare."The class erupted into applause, and Alex felt a surge of pride and relief. He had answered the question correctly, and he had impressed the professor. As Professor Thompson continued with the lecture, Alex felt a sense of pride and accomplishment wash over him. He had answered the question correctly, and he had done it in front of the whole class. But as he glanced around the room, he realized that everyone was still staring at him. Some of his classmates were smiling and nodding in approval, while others looked impressed or even a little intimidated.Alex felt his face grow hot with embarrassment as he realized he had become the center of attention. He quickly looked down at his notes, trying to focus on the rest of the lecture and avoid drawing any more attention to himself. Despite his embarrassment, Alex couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and satisfaction. He had stood out in a good way, and he had shown his professor and his classmates that he was knowledgeable and confident. As the lecture came to a close, Alex packed up his things and stood up, feeling a sense of accomplishment and pride. He had made a good impression, and he was eager to see what the rest of the semester had in store. He glanced at his watch and saw that it was already 12 pm. As he walked out of the lecture hall, Alex pulled out his schedule to check when his next class was. He scanned the page and saw that his next class wasn't until 3 pm, and it would run until 5 pm. He had a few hours to kill before then. Alex's stomach growled, reminding him that he was hungry. He decided to head to the canteen to grab something to eat. As he walked into the cafeteria, his stomach growled with anticipation. He had been thinking about lunch all morning, and he was excited to try some of the local cuisine. But as he scanned the rows of food stalls, he was surprised to see that everything looked...different. Gone were the traditional dishes he was used to. Instead, he saw modernized versions of food from all over the world. There were sandwiches with fancy fillings, salads with exotic fruits, and fries topped with strange but intriguing sauces. Alex's eyes widened as he tried to take it all in. He had no idea what to buy. Everything looked delicious, but he didn't recognize half of the dishes. As he stood there, indecisive, his eyes landed on a stall with a big sign that read "Fresh Salads". Alex's stomach growled again, and he thought to himself, "Ah, a salad. That sounds nice and simple."He walked over to the stall and scanned the options. There were all sorts of interesting combinations, but one in particular caught his eye. It was a mix of greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and carrots, topped with a citrus vinaigrette. Alex's mouth watered at the thought of it. "I'll take that one, please," he said to the vendor, a friendly woman with a warm smile. As he waited for his salad to be prepared, Alex couldn't help but feel a little excited. He had never been much of an adventurous eater, but something about this salad called to him. When the vendor handed him his salad, Alex took a bite and closed his eyes in appreciation. The flavors were amazing, and the textures were perfect. He knew right then and there that he had made an excellent choice, salad in hand, Alex felt grateful for the surprise he had found in the cafeteria. He had been hesitant at first, but in the end, he had discovered something new and delicious.Alex sat alone at a table in the canteen, enjoying his salad. He was lost in thought, replaying the events of his first day of classes, when he was approached by three guys."Hey, mind if we join you?" one of them asked, nodding towards the empty chairs at Alex's table. Alex shook his head, and the three guys sat down. "I'm Mike," said the first guy, extending his hand. "I'm Kenny," said the second guy, grinning."And I'm John," said the third guy, smiling. Alex's eyes widened in surprise. "John? That's my uncle's name!" he exclaimed, giggling. The three guys laughed, and Mike said, "No way! What a coincidence!"Kenny nodded. "Yeah, we're in your class, by the way. We were all impressed by your answer to Professor Thompson's question."Alex blushed, feeling a sense of pride. "Thanks, guys. I was just lucky, I guess."John smiled. "Nah, you're just smart. So, what brings you here?"Alex launched into a story about how he was staying with his uncle, John, and how much he loved him. The three guys listened intently, asking questions and making jokes. As they talked, Alex felt a sense of camaraderie with his new classmates. They were all easygoing and friendly, and he found himself laughing and joking with them like they were old friends. After they finished their meals, Mike pulled out his phone. "Hey, we should exchange numbers. You know, in case we need to study together or something."Kenny and John nodded in agreement, and Alex smiled. "Sounds like a plan."As they exchanged numbers, Alex felt a sense of excitement. .The four boys - Alex, Kenny, Mike, and John - sat back in their chairs, content and full. They had spent the morning attending lectures and were now enjoying a well-deserved break.

‎As they chatted, Kenny suggested, "Hey, why don't we head back to our hostel? We can relax for a bit before our next class."Alex's eyes lit up with excitement. "That sounds like a great idea! I've never been to a hostel before, so I'm curious to see what it's like."Kenny, Mike, and John exchanged amused glances. "You've never been to a hostel?" Mike asked, raising an eyebrow. Alex shook his head. "No, I haven't. I've heard of them, of course, but I've never actually been inside one."John chuckled. "Well, you're in for a treat. Our hostel is one of the best on campus."As they walked to the hostel, Alex couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. What would the hostel be like? Would it be comfortable? Would he like his roommates? When they arrived at the hostel, Mike took charge, leading them on a tour of the facilities. Alex's eyes widened as he took in the comfortable lounge area, the well-equipped kitchen, and the spacious bedrooms. "Wow, this is amazing!" Alex exclaimed. "I had no idea hostels could be so nice."Mike grinned. "Told you it was one of the best on campus. We've got everything we need right here. Alex couldn't help but admire the cozy atmosphere. "Wow, this place is really nice," he said, looking around at the comfortable beds and modern furniture. Kenny, John, and Mike chuckled and dropped their bags onto their respective beds. "Na so dem dey make am for here," Kenny said with a grin. "Wetin dey happen na say we go dey enjoy am well well."Alex looked at them confused. "Huh? What do you mean? "Mike laughed. "Kenny dey talk Pidgin, Alex. No worry, we go teach you."John nodded. "Yeah, we go initiate you into the Pidgin language."Alex smiled. "Okay, I'd love to learn. But first, how was everyone's first lecture? "Kenny's face lit up. "My own be say I meet some fine girls for class. Dem dey make my heart dey skip."Mike chuckled. "Same here, bro. I meet this one girl, her name be Sophia. She be fine no be small."John grinned. "And I meet this girl, her name be Celine. She be very intelligent and beautiful. Alex's eyes widened. "Wow, you guys are really moving fast. I'm still trying to get used to everything."Kenny clapped him on the back. "No worry, Alex. We go help you find your own Sophia or Celine."Mike nodded. "Yeah, and we go teach you Pidgin so you can communicate with dem well well. As they continued to chat, Alex found himself laughing and joking with his new friends. He was excited to explore the school and all it had to offer, and he knew that with Kenny, John, and Mike by his side, he was in for an unforgettable adventure."Guy, I dey tell you," Kenny said, "this school go be one of the best experiences of our lives." ‎John nodded. "I dey agree with you, Kenny. We go make am enjoyable, no matter wetin happen."Mike grinned. "Yeah, and we go make sure say Alex here dey enjoy am too."Alex smiled, feeling grateful for his new friends. As they sat in the room,John suddenly realized they had been chatting for hours. "Oh man, is that the time?" Kenny exclaimed, checking his watch. "We have human anatomy next!"Mike jumped up from the bed. "Let's go, guys! We don't want to be late."Alex, who had already prepared for the class, thanks to his uncle John's schedule, grabbed his bag and stood up. "I'm ready, let's go!" As they left the room, the four friends chatted excitedly about their upcoming lecture. Alex, however, couldn't help but be distracted by the new surroundings. He had never been to this campus before, and everything seemed so fascinating."Wow, look at that building!" Alex exclaimed, pointing to a nearby structure. Kenny chuckled. "Alex, focus! We don't want to be late for class." Mike laughed. "Yeah, and we don't want to get lost either."John smiled. "Don't worry, Alex. We'll show you around. You'll be a pro in no time."As they walked to their next lecture, Alex couldn't help but feel grateful for his new friends. They were already making his transition to university life so much easier. As they arrived at the Nursing Faculty, they were struck by the imposing structure of the building. The faculty was a large, modern complex with multiple floors and wings, each housing different lecture rooms, laboratories, and offices. The building was designed to facilitate easy navigation, with clear signs and directories indicating the location of each lecture room and faculty office. A large digital display board at the entrance of the building showed the lecture timetable, listing the classes scheduled for each room. As the boys made their way to their next lecture, they consulted the display board to confirm the location of their Human Anatomy class. According to the timetable, the lecture was scheduled to take place in Lecture Room 3, which was located on the second floor of the building. As they approached the lecture room, they noticed a large crowd of students streaming into the room. The boys exchanged excited glances, anticipating a lively and interactive lecture. Upon entering the room, they were struck by its sheer size. The lecture room was a vast, amphitheater-style hall with tiered seating that could accommodate almost a thousand students. However, on this particular day, the room was already half-full, with around five hundred students occupying the seats. The boys quickly scanned the room, looking for empty seats. They spotted a few vacant spots near the back of the room and made their way towards them, eager to settle in and take notes before the lecture began. As the boys settled into their seats, the room fell silent, and the lecturer, a middle-aged man with a kind face and a commanding presence, stood up to address the class."Good afternoon, everyone," he began, surveying the room with a warm smile. "My name is Dr. Smith, and I will be your lecturer for Human Anatomy this semester." He paused for a moment, allowing his words to sink in. "Human Anatomy is a fascinating subject that explores the structure and function of the human body," he continued. "Throughout this course, we will delve into the intricacies of the human body, from the skeletal system to the nervous system."Dr. Smith wrote down some key points on the board, emphasizing the importance of note-taking during his lectures. "I expect you all to take detailed notes during our classes," he said, his eyes scanning the room. "This will help you to better understand the material and to prepare for our exams."He then outlined his rules for classroom behavior, stressing the importance of respect, attentiveness, and participation. "I expect you all to arrive on time, to turn off your phones, and to refrain from talking during lectures," he said firmly. "I also encourage you to ask questions and to engage in discussions." As Dr. Smith finished his introduction, the class erupted into a flurry of activity, with students scribbling down notes, asking questions, and chatting with their neighbors. The four boys, Alex, Kenny, Mike, and John, exchanged excited glances, eager to dive into the fascinating world of Human Anatomy . The class was quite and Dr Smith did his work perfectly and professionally. ‎As the lecture came to a close, Dr. Smith summarized the key points and dismissed the class. The four friends, Alex, Kenny, Mike, and John, packed up their bags and headed out of the lecture hall."I'm glad that's over," Mike said, stretching his arms over his head. "I'm starving."Me too," Kenny agreed. "Let's grab some dinner."The four friends walked together, chatting and laughing, until they reached the entrance of the hostel. "I'll catch you guys later," Alex said, waving goodbye. "My uncle is picking me up." "Okay, see you later," John replied, as the three friends continued on to their rooms. Alex walked to the parking lot, looking around for his uncle's car. His uncle, John, had told him to meet him there after his last lecture. As he scanned the parking lot, Alex spotted his uncle's car and waved. His uncle, a kind-looking man with a warm smile, got out of the car and greeted Alex."Hey, kiddo," he said, ruffling Alex's hair. "How was your first day of classes?"Alex grinned, eager to share his experiences with his uncle. "It was great," he said, getting into the car. "I met some new friends and my lecturers seem really nice."His uncle smiled, starting the car. "That's terrific," he said. "I'm glad to hear you're settling in well." As they drove away from the campus, Alex felt grateful for his uncle's support and guidance. He knew he could always count on him, no matter what. As they arrived home, Alex and his uncle decided to make themselves some dinner. They worked together in the kitchen, chatting and laughing as they cooked. Once they were seated and eating, Alex began to tell his uncle about his day, including the three friends he had met in school. "Uncle, I met some really cool guys today," Alex said, his eyes shining with excitement. "Their names are Kenny, Mike, and John. We had a great time together."His uncle smiled, listening intently to Alex's story. When Alex finished, his uncle took the opportunity to offer some advice. "Alex, it's great that you're making friends," his uncle said. "But remember to choose your friends wisely. You want to surround yourself with people who will support and encourage you, not distract you from your studies."Alex nodded, taking his uncle's words to heart. He knew that his education was important, and he didn't want to do anything to jeopardize his success. After dinner, Alex and his uncle spent some time chatting and playing video games together. As the evening drew to a close, Alex began to feel tired. "I think I'm going to head to bed," Alex said, yawning. His uncle nodded. "Get some rest, kiddo. You've got a big day ahead of you tomorrow."Alex nodded and headed to his room. Before he started using his phone, he glanced through the notes that had been given to them during lectures, reviewing the material and making sure he understood everything. Feeling satisfied, Alex set his notes aside and picked up his phone, ready to relax and unwind before bed.

‎As Alex drifted off to sleep, his uncle John remained seated at the dining table, surrounded by stacks of papers, invoices, and financial reports. He rubbed his tired eyes, trying to make sense of the numbers in front of him. Uncle John's store, which had been a staple in the city for years, had been struggling lately. Despite his best efforts, sales had been slow, and expenses had been piling up. He had always taken pride in being a successful businessman, but lately, he had been feeling like he was losing his touch. As he sat at the table, Uncle John couldn't help but wonder what had gone wrong. He had always been diligent, always planning ahead, but somehow, things just hadn't been going his way. He thought back to the day's events, trying to pinpoint where things had started to go off track. Despite his concerns, Uncle John was determined to turn things around. He made a mental note to himself to come up with a new plan, to find a way to boost sales and get his store back on track. With a newfound sense of determination, John closed his books, pushed his chair back from the table, and stood up. He stretched his tired muscles, yawned, and headed off to bed, ready to face the challenges of the next day. As he climbed into bed, Uncle John smiled, thinking about Alex and how proud he was of the young man. He knew that Alex was going to do great things, and he was grateful to be a part of his life. With a sense of hope and renewal, Uncle John drifted off to sleep, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead
