[ Chapter X (10): "BACK HOME IN HOGWARTS" ]
Over 881 families, no, 892 due to the book and quill adding a few families in-between have been visited by Felix in the span of what felt like eternity, but in reality was only 31 days — a full month which felt like eternity for Felix who didn't enjoy being a door-to-door salesman.
Selling free college tuition for families all over America in a deadline, one of which he didn't impose on himself but instead imposed by the system of his. Binded to him unwillingly.
For every single day he visited at the very least 25 families, having not slept a wink except for those rare times he'll forget to take the potions he brewed, wasting an hour or two before ultimately snapping back into reality and doing his job as the Headmaster of Hogwarts.
And now it's August 17th, 11:39PM. Felix whose body alarm clock' has been ruined by his exploits for a month. His spirit only being held onto by a few treads as he stares at the window outside.
Sitting on his office chair, arms in front of him in a prayer motion. Not praying at all, but seemingly feeling that way as he thinks about ways to prepare for the legendary August 20th — the Parents Orientation which will hopefully convince the parents to enroll their kids into Hogwarts.
The more kids are enrolled, the less likely there are to be Obscurus running all-around America for now, but in the future he hopes for the whole world. And in being slow he wouldn't be able to do that, so both the system and him agreed to a tactile understanding and did a harsh recruitment program for a whole month.
892 families, the overall population of Hogwarts having reached more than a thousand at this point if he could just convince those families.
The wealth he'll gain, the Golden Galleons surely will come flowing and in that he'll be able to eventually buy House Elves, a single one will do, extremely expensive things apparently.
One House Elf cost about 3 Quidditch Field, so he didn't bought one, and instead let one Mr. Scamander rule over the kitchen. That endeavor thankfully being great and successful.
The monthly salary of his that he gains through the system wasn't used to buy anything extravagant, as instead of buying a House Elf which is plenty useful, he instead spends his salary on paying for the three meals of the previous first-year students, soon-to-be second-years.
Yes, those materials used for cooking didn't appear out of nowhere, they were instead bought using the hard earned money of one kind Headmaster. When someone asks where this stuff kept coming from — Newt, Minerva, Fillius — then he'll easily change the topic.
Other than food he also paid for robes, winter and summer ones. Standard wands which don't have any unique wood, or unique cores, or unique lengths — in his next big payday he hopes to change that by buying one Garrick Ollivander in the shops — which costs 15 Quidditch Fields. Which he'll have to postpone as of the current.
Other than that he also brought the house Quidditch Brooms, standard for each student. The said students population at that time surpassed a hundred, so that cost him an arm and a leg. Plus the Firebolts for each Quidditch Team — that hurted more. Overall totaling to something-something, 4 Quidditch Field-ish expenses.
In short, very expensive. The Quidditch Field cost him about 100 Golden Galleons, so, yeah. Not right, not great. Especially when he only gets paid based on the student population which is only 125 at the moment.
1-3 Golden Galleons on each head, the salary they giving him is based on the learning speed they learn knowledge. 1 for standard, 2 for intermediate, and 3 for experts, and also 0 for trolls, in short failures.
If his math wasn't wrong, every single month for a span of 9 months he earned a little bit of... 1103 Golden Galleons. 400-450 of that went on the Quidditch related things that he don't even care about, McGonagall the Deputy Headmistress seems to love it though, so that's a great plus.
200-250 Golden Galleons was spent on decorations, the Sorting Hat included, the Magical Paintings which are his eyes and ears throughout Hogwarts — they currently sleeping as of the moment, as proven by the snoring of one Headmaster Black nearby causing the nearby frames to slightly protest in annoyance before ultimately ignoring it.
The bronze guards patrolling Hogwarts, the legendary library and the books which are filled in it. The current library being incomplete and instead having only one to two shelves of books filled. The decorations for the House of Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff ugh, the math is driving him crazy.
Plus that the fact he has to buy the Hogwarts Express, numerous Owls which are smarter than the average bird. Potion materials! Yes, as someone gifted with medas touch in potions, Felix didn't care about spending money on those... Costing him about 50-100 Galleons... Damn it.
He doesn't remember the math, he doesn't remember how. Probably using the savings of his, the one gifted to him by the system in first acquiring it — 1500 Golden Galleons as capital — but through the use of the remaining coins of that, he was able to buy the currently most expensive Prof. of Hogwarts — young Fillius Flitwick, costing about 400 Golden Galleons.
In comparison Minerva McGonagall who's in her 20s, having spent time as a worker for the Ministry, and no teaching experience cost about 300 Golden Galleons. Young Newt Scamander who have just been expelled from Hogwarts from his point of view 3 years prior cost about 250 Golden Galleons.
So very quickly the initial capital of his which was 1500 Golden Galleons was depleted into none, due to him needing to build Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry which looks nothing like the movie version that he remembers.
This looked like a box of matchsticks in comparison to that movie, and in that he felt ashamed. Having let his overspending self take control, and only worry about the present, and not the future.
And now because of that his students weren't able to even enjoy a proper Yule Ball, they did enjoy one, but not a proper one. No Triwizard Tournament, no official Quidditch Games, nothing of those sorts. In the school year that'll start on September 1st, he hopes to give them all of that.
All of which they rightfully deserve, the fastest way he knows that they could is through mass recruitment, like a tycoon game he likes to play so much in his past time, when he still had a phone. And now he doesn't... He should steal one later on, or probably ask one of the rich parents to buy h- no, not doing that.
In frustration, Felix threw his arms in the air. The messy desk of his which has parchment and ink all-around it automatically moving, fixing itself as the panda-looking Headmaster made his way out of the office.
Wanting to brew some coffee in the kitchen, and take a nice walk to cool down his head which have been overworked, tired, and is currently overthinking. A problem of his due to him hyper focusing on things that seems so trivial to others, but to him is life and death.
Fuck, I do really need a drink... Coffee, or chocolate, not wine I-I don't drink those, probably Minerva McGonagall though.
