Chapter 28 - Just herself

"If it's truly urgent, you can go ahead and answer the call," Tryson suggested to Angel, noticing her hesitation as she looked at him.

Just as she was lost in her thoughts, the phone rang once more. At this point, Tryson began to grow suspicious of the call, observing Angel's increasing reluctance.

"I'll go ahead and take the call," Angel remarked, realizing that Arthur would only persist in calling for a longer period if she didn't pick up.

Internally, she found herself nibbling on her lips, a mix of guilt and awkwardness washing over her as she concealed the fact that Arthur was on the line.

For goodness' sake—this was such a prime opportunity for her to handle the situation with Tryson.

Yet, she felt it would be best to have a conversation with Arthur without letting Tryson become aware of it.

Tryson nodded, showing he understood, and at that precise moment, Angel left the room to take a phone call, allowing Tryson to carry on his conversation with Kelvin.

"Hello," Angel greeted Arthur as she answered the call, pausing as if waiting for him to reply.

"Angel, I'm currently at the estate corresponding to the address you provided for delivering the bouquet of flowers. I need your permission to enter," Arthur stated with composure, and at that instant, she was taken aback.

"Arthur, what made you choose to come in person? Didn't you say you were planning to have someone else handle the delivery?" Angel responded, with her voice clearly reflecting her surprise.

"I did mention that, but then I found myself constantly thinking about you. I simply wanted to ensure that you were alright, which is why I decided to come by on my own," Arthur explained to her.

At that moment, she was left even more astonished.

What was the point of him coming here?

"Arthur, you could have—"

"Is there something that's troubling you?" Angel was caught off guard by Tryson's resonant voice.

She turned abruptly in shock, her phone still pressed tightly against her ear. In that moment, she felt completely sure that Arthur had overheard Tryson's voice.

In a rush, she quickly ended the call before Arthur had a chance to respond.

"What happened? I thought you were still busy with your work-related tasks?" Angel inquired, visibly surprised by the realization that he might have overheard her conversation with Arthur.

"Yeah, but that was it for us," Tryson admitted openly.

She seemed utterly at a loss for words initially, her voice caught in her throat, but eventually, she pressed her lips together firmly and nodded in agreement.

"Alright then," Angel responded, preparing to make her exit.

"Do you need help with the phone call you had with that person?" Tryson asked gently, causing Angel to pause in her tracks.

She struggled to come up with a response, but deep down, she recognized the importance of having Arthur come to the estate.

Otherwise, he might become anxious about her situation.

She definitely didn't want to burden him with unnecessary stress.

"Yes, I need something picked up from the gate of the estate," Angel informed Tryson as soon as she turned around to face him.

Her tone carried a sense of urgency, making it clear that the matter was important to her.

"Alright then, I can drive you to the gates if that's what you prefer," Tryson replied with a calm demeanor.

In that moment, he appeared more than willing to help. However, Angel was gripped by anxiety about the potential consequences if Tryson ended up encountering Arthur there.

She wasn't exactly terrified, especially when she had clearly communicated to Tryson that she was in a relationship and had a child for Arthur.

However, due to the lies and cover-ups she spun for Tryson, particularly regarding Arthur's stinginess with money, there could be an unusual dynamic between them when they inevitably meet.

Regarding that, she wasn't completely wrong in her statements; it was more about the extra details she had included. She ended up mentioning things she shouldn't have.

"Do you actually intend to take me to the gates?" Angel asked, observing Tryson as he briefly frowned before nodding to confirm his intentions.

"Yes, is there an issue? Moreover, considering the distance from here to the gates, it's probably best if I drive you there due to your condition," Tryson replied sincerely.

At that moment, she found it hard to trust Tryson, not necessarily in a negative way, but ever since she returned to the house, Tryson's overly nice behavior had been puzzling her.

She couldn't help but question what might have triggered this change in his demeanor.

Is it possible that he was just using this method to make sure she wouldn't change her mind about the contract or choose to leave him after everything in the agreement was done?

"Alright, I'll head to the room to get dressed," Angel remarked, preparing to leave, but Tryson spoke up before she could go.

"You really don't need to change your outfit; I think it looks fine," Tryson commented kindly, prompting Angel to take a moment to glance at herself.

She was literally wearing a bum short with tank top up and floppy slipers, and her hair, she just tied it into a messy bun but then it seemed like he liked the way she seemed to look like.

She was speechless, the times before she was with Tryson, he was rarely at home so he never knew much about her and she knew just a few things about him.

The moment they spent was quite few hours, because Tryson ended up leaving just before she woke up and most times he rarely comes back from work or when he was on business countries outside the country.

And as for Arthur, he was judging about what she wore and dressed but then she knew he was trying to care for her there was no way Arthur would have let her dress out this casually.

She couldn't help but feel somewhat strange towards Tryson in a good way.

She couldn't help but think why Tryson was doing this to her, making her feel like she was just herself.
