Chapter 5 - Is There Something Wrong?

Indeed, Angel was returning to the family, but this time, she wasn't the same Angel they had known two months earlier.

She had dated their son solely for his wealth, and they didn't hesitate for a second to remind her of her true standing.

She felt utterly humiliated when she realized that those she believed cared for her actually harbored ill intentions.

Determined to set things straight, she decided to confront them and prove her strength once and for all.

She bravely stood her ground, reminding them that their son had approached her with a proposal, not the other way around. This single act from the family was the perfect opportunity for her to remove herself from Tryson's life.

Regarding Tryson, he might have manipulated her emotions to bring her to this point, but she intended to ensure he paid a high price for his actions against her.

He had shattered her trust, and rebuilding it would require time.

However, the idea of her pregnancy filled her with fear.

It had been two months, and her belly had not begun to show. If she started displaying symptoms, Tryson might inevitably discover the truth.

Yet, for the time being, her only task was to figure out how to manage the current situation.

As soon as she entered the auditorium, she was ready, locking eyes with the woman who had once delivered a stinging slap upon discovering she'd deceived her family, now approaching her.

She was certain Evans still harbored some resentment, and she was prepared to face it head-on.

Without glancing at Tryson, she clenched her teeth. As they approached Evans, Tryson gently addressed her.

"Mrs. Evans," Angel said, but she was taken aback and amazed when Evans embraced her warmly.

Is anything the matter?

What did this gesture mean?

Evans softly pulled back and then gently rested a hand on Angel's cheek, smiling warmly; "Oh my, you look stunning. How have you been?"

Evans conversed as if they were old friends, leaving her both shocked and amazed. Just as she was about to respond, Amell entered with the same friendly demeanor as Evans, also being courteous.

Angel shifted her focus to Tryson, curious about the unexpected transformation.

Moreover, what had prompted this sudden change in everyone?

Didn't they have a crush on someone from their class—perhaps someone like Riley?

As if summoning the devil, she observed Riley striding towards them. In an instant, a wave of anger surged within her as she saw Riley wrap her arm around Tryson's.

The moment slipped by, and fortunately, she managed to withstand it. However, the unexpected shock came when she saw Tryson present Riley to her as his fiancée.

Hold on, was she about to become his second fiancée?

Furthermore, Tryson's behavior towards Riley was puzzling. What exactly was going on between them?

Could the mystery surrounding it be the reason Tryson returned to her?

However, what about his family?

She shifted her attention to Amell and Evans, noticing their seemingly friendly expressions directed at her.

Her curiosity was piqued, and she remained vigilant.

Just as in the past, they excelled in betraying others, and this occasion appeared to be no exception.

"Tryson, what on earth are you saying?" Angel heard Riley's voice rise in disbelief, drawing the attention of those around them in the room.

"Hmm, Angel, let's have a conversation. There are some individuals I would like you to meet, and now that you're finally back home—" Amell attempted to continue speaking, but Angel interrupted him.

"Didn't you request that I refrain from mentioning anything about your home? Could you please drop the act?"

Amell's face broke into a broad smile. He didn't appear to be upset by her words; instead, she observed him taking it all in stride.

He then tilted his head to look directly at her.

"I understand that our actions during our last meeting caused you pain, and for that, I want to sincerely express my apologies on behalf of the entire family. Our intentions were pure, and I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive us," Amell expressed.

Riley looked at him with wide eyes, completely taken aback. Although she was in awe, it didn't mean she was left speechless.

Gathering her thoughts, she managed to say in a stunned voice, "Father, what is—" However, before she could complete her sentence, Tryson grabbed her arm.

In the blink of an eye, they vanished from their surroundings.

Angel watched the pair closely. If this was all part of some staged performance, Riley might have been in on it.

Yet, her expression of genuine surprise suggested otherwise.

What on earth could be unfolding here?

"There's no need to be concerned about that problem, my dear," Evans said reassuringly, breaking Angel's gaze as she turned her attention towards her.

She observed as Evans approached her, and once again, Evans gently placed her hands on Angel's cheeks, her expression filled with apology.

"I understand, my dear, we let you down, but I sincerely hope we can embark on a fresh beginning, a new chapter with the family, as my son's fiancée," Evans implored earnestly.

Angel was certainly not going to fall for their performance.

She lifted her hand and gently clasped Evans' hand. Just as she was about to say something, a voice caught her attention and made her look in a different direction.

"Angel, you're here too?" Arthur's voice reached her ears as she turned her head to see him making his way over to where she stood.

However, the instant she observed Arthur approaching her, she discerned an annoyed expression radiating from Evans, an expression that was solely aimed at Arthur.

She sensed right then that, no matter how pleasant her demeanor seemed, it was intended for some ulterior motive that would solely serve the family's interests and nothing beyond that.

"Angel," Arthur began, his tone cheerful as he pretended not to acknowledge the presence of the two individuals.

Unexpectedly, Evans reached out, grasping Arthur's hand, and with a piercing gaze directed at Arthur, she declared.

"I don't believe you have any rightful claim to lay a hand on my daughter-in-law."
