In the aftermath of the Cruyff war, much was to be dealt with.
Firstly as Victor promised he brought Duke Cruyff to the cells of each of his son's murderers. One by one he bloodily murdered them all. Half of the minister's corpses were hacked to pieces, it was like an animal tore them to shreds.
Satiating Harold's thirst for revenge, Victor then dealt with the former ruler of his new territory. In his cell, Harold awaited Victor's arrival. There were no guards, just the 2 men. "You must understand why I have to do this right Duke Cruyff?" Asked Victor. There was no reply from Harold he only offered a small nod. Mentally he was already dead, he had nothing to live for. The once arrogant and loud Duke was now a soulless husk of a man.
Accepting the fact that Harold would not react to anything, Victor wasted no time in giving him a quick death. Originally Victor had planned to kill him publically as a show of strength but with the death of Hudson, everything changed. The animosity that Victor held for Harold vanished. He could only feel sorry for him.
With the squeeze of a trigger, Victor lodged a bullet into Harold's skull. There was no sense of justice or triumph. Harold's death was required, with him and his bloodline extinguished there was no opposition to Victor's rule.
With 2 major cities in his domain, Victor needed to find someone reliable to govern Sardia. He also would keep 3,000 of his summoned soldiers here to garrison the city and maintain order. Needing counsel on this matter, Victor summoned his generals. While waiting for his generals to arrive Victor was surprised with a blue system screen.
Hidden Quest Completed!: Conquer Your First City!'
'Rewards: 20x 100-Man Infantry Unit Summon, 25,000 Store Points'
Victor's mood lifted when he saw these rewards, but then his facial expressions changed when he saw a follow-up silver system screen.
'Congratulations You Have Unlocked New System Features!'
Victor was extremely curious at this alert. All Victor had available from the system was a store and an inventory. Slowly, a silver flashing screen blinded Victor and whited out the system's usual screen. When Victor's vision came to and he went to interact with the system a new layout was before him.
The opening system screen was no longer the store. It was in a tab called 'Overview'. The Overview tab had a map covering the right half of the screen. It showed the entire Luxenberg region, including the recently claimed Cruyff territory. There were 3 icons on the map. 2 of them were little city icons that represented the cities of Hannover and Sardia, while the last icon represented Victor's current location.
On the left-hand side was a bunch of statistics.
'Domain Overview'
'Regions: 2'
'Cities: 2
'Total Population: 2,145,893 People'
'Army Size: 53,000 Infantrymen, 7,500 Cavalrymen, 150 Cannons'
'Fleet Size: 1 Flagship, 6 Ships Of The Line'
Victor's mind was blown. It was an easily outlined report of his territory. The numbers of his military were based on people that could form an army, not just what he had active currently. Wanting to explore this new feature Victor tapped on the city icon above Hannover.
Tapping the icon a whole new screen flashed up next to the Overview tab. It was essentially the same as the Overview tab but focused on the specific city. It's population, income and garrison. These in-depth statistics would be helpful for Victor in managing a bigger domain however there was an added feature.
Above the Hannover map was a title.'Capital City! Governor: Victor Luxenberg.' Curious, Victor then proceeded to tap on the icon above Sardia. Similar to the title it had, 'City! Governor: Vacancy.'
Victor realised that he would need to appoint a governor to rule in proxy for him since he already was in charge of ruling Hannover. Contemplating who to choose Victor continued to explore his upgraded system. The store had been upgraded from 10 to 20 slots, so there were now more options to choose from when using his Store Points.
Those were the only notable changes to the system. Shortly after finishing up with the system General Rapp and Bertrand walked in. Both men bowed to their Duke before approaching further.
"Gentlemen, I have called you here to discuss how we will control the region. Firstly I would like to appoint you, General Rapp, as governor of Sardia. You will be in charge of the region as a proxy for me. I will give you 4,000 infantrymen to help maintain order in the region while you rebuild the military."
Greatly honoured, General Rapp fell to a knee and bowed before his Duke. "I shall see that the region grow prosperous in your name my Duke," he said in a confident and appreciative tone.
"General Bertrand, I shall have you lead the Luxenberg army back to Hannover in my stead. I wish to help General Rapp find staff and establish himself here before returning I shall only need my 120 Royal Scots Grey as an escort." Victor ordered, entrusting Bertrand with his army.
"I shall prepare the army for departure on the morrow my Duke," General Bertrand stated confidently. After some further discussion on troop assignments and what possible threats could be an issue the generals soon departed.
'If General Rapp is going to succeed here, he will need some help.' Victor thought to himself while opening up the system. General Rapp would need troops to keep the peace while asserting himself in Sardia so Victor began using his 20 100-Man Infantry Unit Summons. With the new system update, there were now more options to choose from in terms of possible infantry units. Victor selected 600 French Grenadiers, 1000 Brunswick Line Infantrymen and 400 Skirmishers from the 95th Foot Rifles.
After using the summons Victor went to the store to see if he could use his 25,000 Store Points. 1 item caught Victor's eye as he looked through each of the 20 options. It was 10x Medium-Level Follwer Summon. If General Rapp could have competent administrators the city and territory could be managed effectively. Using all 25,000 Store Points, Victor purchased and used 10x Medium-Level Follwer Summon.
A blank screen started like usual but instead of the whole screen turning a certain colour, only a rectangular box did. 10 of these boxes appeared on the screen, all of them flashing a yellow mist. Victor began to look at his newly summoned followers.
3 financial administrators, 3 policy administrators, 2 merchants and 2 spies were the haul from the 10x Medium-Level Follwer Summon. All of them were 3 stars, to Victor's slight disappointment.
With the summons all set to arrive in Sardia tomorrow, all Victor could do was wait.
