Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Revitalized

Seeing the first purple screen puzzled Victor. Blue was usually the screen's colour and green was the colour for selecting troops but purple was unique.

When Victor tapped on the screen a list of 3 quests appeared. All unique and specifying savoury rewards.

'Quest 1: Destroy the Bandit's Robbing Merchant Convoys!'

'Rewards: 1000 Store Points, a Military Outpost Starter Kit and 20 Gold Coins.'

Victor began to salivate. 20 gold coins could maintain a family of 4 comfortably for 5 years. For every 100 silver coins was 1 gold coin and the average salary of lower-class individuals was 2 gold coins a year.

A military outpost starter kit would extremely ideal for Victor since he could then use the 100-man Infantry Unit summon he has tucked away in his inventory. Plus having more Store Points was always good.

'Quest 2: Join Your Family for Dinner!

'Rewards: 2000 Store Points and a Low-Level Skill Book of Your Choosing.'

"That is not an easy task, I can't afford to ruffle feathers before I am ready," Victor grumbled. It was an average quest with average rewards. There was no need to throw himself to the wolves so early.

After using the marksmanship low-level skill book, Victor came to understand that using it would boost your proficiency to an average standard of the profession. Although he had not put this theory to the test, he could assume that the higher the level the greater the proficiency would be. So getting a low-level skill book wasn't worth the strife.

'Quest 3: Defeat Klaus In a Duel!'

'Rewards: 5000 Store Points, 100-man Infantry Unit summon'

This was a huge opportunity for Victor. If he could defeat Klaus he could not only get amazing rewards he could assert himself as the heir of Luxenberg. Although he has the title already, there is no authority given with it since he has been disregarded by his father.

"Dear little Klaus one day I shall destroy you and make you suffer as I have suffered," Victor asserted to himself.

To achieve this feat Victor first had to build up his body and learn some form of swordsmanship to stand a chance. Thankfully half of that equation could be solved instantly with the Body Revitalization Pill that Victor had gotten as a reward from a quest.

Unsure of what was going to happen when taking this pill he locked his door so no one could interrupt the process. Next, he sat down in the middle of his spacious room and began to mentally prepare himself. The process could be simple and instant or arduous and long.

"Let's begin," Victor said while letting out a brief sign. Pressing the use button the process began.

A slight tingling sensation began to envelop Victor's body. His heart rate slightly increased and a small amount of sweat began to build up around his body. Laying flat on his back the slight tingling feel began to feel like needles into every pressure point of his body. Victor's body began to twitch and a trace amount of blood began to pour from his ear and nose.

He had only been suffering for 5 minutes before the pain began to up a notch. The needle feeling became like a vicious stabbing. Victor's body thrashed violently while blood poured from his eyes, nose and ears. It was getting to the point that Victor might die. His breathing was out of sync and his consciousness wavered.

Abruptly the pain stopped his body and mind had shut down. All Victor could do was fall into the abyss of his mind and pray that the Body Revitalization Pill would do its job properly.

Minutes turned to hours Victor's lifeless body was twitching and turning. His consciousness lay dormant in darkness. Anyone would think he was dead or possessed. He had no pulse or heartbeat. His pale body was even whiter, to the point you could see all his veins clearly.

However, by the next morning, you could not even recognise Victor. The once malnourished-looking boy was now filled out. His muscles now moderately defined and toned.

His medium-length purple hair was falling to his waist. His facial features like his jawline and cheekbones were now refined. It was like he was a completely different person.

Victor could only stare at his metamorphosis. The small handheld mirror reflected a body that Victor thought would be unattainable. His clothes were drenched in blood and sweat.

"I feel amazing," Victor said feeling a state of bliss.

He wiped away the sweat and blood that had stained his body during the painful transition. Once doing so he changed into some clean clothes that weren't soaked. The once baggy clothes were now tight fits and could actually stick to his body and not sag.

Needing a comfy surface to rest on, Victor sprawled out on his bed. All he could think about was how incredible his own body was. It was getting to the point of borderline narcissism. Thankfully after a few moments of feeling his body, he finally composed himself.

With his body now in a strong condition, it was time to plan his next steps.

Thanks to the system's optional quests, Victor now had a sense of direction on how to progress. The quests involving his family would be difficult to do right away. The backlash from such events would be too great early on. Laying the foundation to usurp the Dukedom was a priority, so establishing a military outpost and building a battalion was important.

"I must deal with the bandits first then," stated Victor.

With his mind made up, Victor made his way to Duke Vipon's study.

"Father it's me may I come in?" Victor asked politely.

"If you must," replied Vipon disinterestedly.

Victor opened the study door and entered the study with some confidence in his step. He stood at the foot of his father's desk and bowed his head slightly showing his respect to his father and patriarch.

"Father I'd like permission to lead the hunt for the bandits pillaging the convoys outside of town. They have evaded us for far too long," Victor stated authoritatively

Vipon looked up in disbelief at his son's audacious request. He was even more shocked at his son's body transformation. Without showing any interest Vipon slowly put down his work and looked at his son dead in the eyes and said

"You alone will deal with the illusive bandits? Ridiculous! Be my guest and try but you will have no help from me or the Dukedom. You will be doing this by yourself." Vipon said sternly, believing his deluded son would back down.

"I shall deal with them with my own forces Father," Victor replied without a shred of hesitation.

With that final remark, Victor left the study, determined to prove his father wrong.
