Jonathan's deadly eyes remained on Charles but he was listening to all Charles had been saying. He was quickly gaining profound knowledge on his new world.
It seemed there were four types of magic or ability one could possess in this world, and they were the martial art ability, the swordsmanship ability, the element control ability and the summoning ability.
He had read a few fantasy novels so he wasn't new to these types of simple abilities. Hearing Charles' words, he finally understood why God gave him those two magnificent skills. With those two skills he could become a really powerful figure in a short amount of time, all he needed to do was to pick the best rune stone among the four.
Jonathan had already debated on which of the runes stone he would pick. Since he had a system, he believed he would be able to select which of the runes stone he wanted, unlike the rest that their body had to pick for them.
Jonathan's attention went back to Charles again, although he wanted to walk up to Charles and squeezed the living day out of him, he managed to control his temper.
He needed to learn all he could know about this world quickly because if things were to go as planned, he would need to be ready to overthrown all the bad leaders, and seize control of Dreamway. Once he takes control of Dreamway, he would start his world domination by conquering other countries that rebuke peace.
Charles cleared his throat and jammed his hands together.
"And this is all for today. The rune stones would be made available next week. Seven days from now, you all will know what fate has installed for you...."
Charles was still talking when somebody was seen climbing the stairway that leads to the stage. The person breathing was vibrating as he climbed each stair faster than the previous one he stepped on. He reached the stage on time and saluted right away.
"Sir!!!"
The man dressed in a green military outfit saluted Charles. Charles returned the salute before speaking.
"What is it soldier!"
Without hesitation, the young boy fired up.
"Sir! The city outside is being attacked by intruders. They are fighting their way to our base!"
Charles' expression darkened and he roared.
"Who are these intruders!"
The boy raised his head to the ceiling, not wanting to look Charles in the eyes.
"We have identify these intruders Sir! and they are from... they are from Alphacrest Sir!"
"They are putting on Alphacrest military uniforms!"
Charles eyebrows raised to his forehead.
"Alphacrest."
He muttered to himself.
"Talk about perfect timing."
Charles eyebrows pushed down to his eyes. The main task force had just left for the capital yesterday, so there was no army in the base to fight against the intruder.
At that moment, the old instructor entered the ceremony hall. He saluted Charles before voicing out.
"Sir! There are no trained forces in the base, but we can't let these intruders go about killing innocent people!"
Charles turned to face the old instructor.
"What do you want, Mr Greyson."
Greyson faced the new recruitment.
"Permission to take the new recruits to combat!"
Charles' eyebrows pushed to each other.
"Very well then! We can't allow these intruders to take the lives of our citizens, the people that we are supposed to be protecting."
Charles faced Greyson.
"Before backup arrives, you can take the new recruitment to combat, but only those that awakened their ability"
"Yes, Sir!"
Greyson bowed his head slightly to Charles, showing that he was satisfied with Charles' orders. He faced the new recruitment and roared.
"Come with me now!"
Greyson led the new recruitment to another room in the building. Inside the room were three long rectangular tables that were filled with runes stones.
Jonathan's eyebrows raised a little when he entered the room. He had never seen a rune stone before, so this was a new experience for him.
The rune stones were cylinder in shape, and they were radiating a colorful light. All the runes on the table were the same shape and were radiating the same color as well.
Jonathan was starting to wonder if the colors mean anything because they were all the same.
Greyson stopped in the middle of the room and faced everyone.
"Like Commander Charles had just said, you were supposed to be carrying out this process seven days from now, that was when the other runes stones would arrive here, but we are under attack and a lot of people are dying outside."
"We can't just sit down and do nothing. We are the military, it's our job to protect the normal citizens! and to defend our lands against dirty scumbags such as these intruders!"
Greyson picked one of the rune stones on the table.
"Everything here is the martial artist runes stone, and you are going to see if your body would pick the stone or not."
Murmuring sounds immediately covered the premises but nobody dared to voice out, they all walked to the rune stones on the table without saying a word.
Greyson saw the looks on everyone's faces and he voiced out angrily.
"There is nothing to be afraid of, if you weren't meant to be a martial artist your body wouldn't absorb the energy inside the stone. Only those that were meant to be a martial artist would be able to absorb the energy inside."
Immediately Greyson said the words, A tall guy with golden hairs sounded excitedly.
"He is right."
He was already holding one of the rune stones and he couldn't absorb the energy inside. With that everyone started holding the rune stones with shaking hands.
Some of them immediately started experiencing a glowing sensation in their body, while others weren't feeling anything.
Jonathan was composed on his end, he didn't know whether to touch the rune stone or not. This was the martial artist rune stone, he didn't want to become a martial artist, he wanted to become a summoner.
He was thinking of what to do when Greyson covered his vision.
"What are you doing, Jonathan Hayes?"
Jonathan raised his head only to see he was the only person left who hadn't touched the rune stones.
