Carefully putting away Shinobu Kocho's list of herbal formulas and dietary treatments, Sam Miller took a moment to watch as Shinobu combed Kanao's hair. Although he had combed Kanao's hair before when helping her bathe, he wasn't very skilled at these things, so the result hadn't been very neat.

In Shinobu's hands, however, Kanao's hair gradually transformed into two ponytails, adding a touch of youthful color to the usually dull girl. A smile appeared on the corner of his mouth.

"You two rest here," he said softly, and then walked towards the entrance of the cave.

Shinobu looked in the direction Sam was heading with a puzzled expression. Their cave was so deep that they could hardly see the light, but faint rays peeked through a few cracks, indicating it was daytime outside.

A ghost going outside during the day—what was he doing?

Meanwhile, her purple eyes flickered slightly. The ghost was leaving—could this be her chance to escape?

But after thinking it over, she decided against it. She could feel that this ghost had no intention of harming or eating her. Moreover, he had promised to let her go, so she decided to wait it out. After all, she couldn't be sure if this was a deliberate act on the ghost's part.

"However, he really is a strange ghost," she sighed. She couldn't remember how many times she had thought this about him; everything about this ghost was completely beyond her expectations.

...

As Sam continued walking out of the cave, the light in front of him grew brighter and brighter until he stopped and looked ahead.

One more step, and he would be in the sunlight. His ghostly instincts naturally recoiled at the thought.

This was the nature of ghosts: they hated the sun, loved the dark.

Suppressing his instincts, he gently stretched out his hand.

The sunlight on his hand caused a burning sensation, which was uncomfortable. But it was only uncomfortable—no other adverse effects.

After a moment's hesitation, he exposed more of his body to the sunlight, cautiously exploring bit by bit until he was fully bathed in the sun.

He, a ghost, could actually stand in the sun. A smile crept onto his face. In this world, ghosts couldn't endure sunlight—not even Muzan Kibutsuji, the ancestor of all ghosts. The only exception seemed to be Nezuko, who later became a sun-resistant demon.

However, he felt that although he could endure the sun, his entire body felt uncomfortable and weak, as if he didn't want to move. His strength had diminished significantly, probably only about 50% of his usual power.

After another half hour in the sun, thoroughly understanding the changes in his body, Sam retreated back into the cave.

Once back in the darkness, he felt much more relaxed, with all the cells in his body becoming extremely active again.

Indeed, "Ghosts love darkness and hate light," he murmured softly, finally understanding his situation and feeling relieved. At least he wouldn't die from mere exposure to sunlight, which had been a concern for him.

Gazing out at the bright sun, he suddenly recalled an amusing thought.

If Muzan Kibutsuji saw him basking in the sunlight, what kind of reaction would that ghost have? He found himself suddenly curious.
