Chapter 19 - Chapter 3: The Land of Flames Episode 3: The Match of Friendship

The resonating sound of drums echoed across the arena, blending with the heated cheers of the audience and the searing heat of molten lava surrounding the battleground. All eyes were locked on the two fighters standing in the center of the obsidian ring: Akira, the young man from another world who had fought his way through grueling matches, and Draco Dustflark, a rising star renowned for his unparalleled combat prowess.

Draco stood tall, his crimson eyes glowing like embers as they bore into Akira, as if testing his resolve. Dressed in finely crafted leather armor that accentuated his muscular physique, he exuded a presence that demanded respect. His thickly armored forearms hinted at his devastating strength, though he carried no weapon. His hands moved with calm precision, radiating the aura of a seasoned Muay Thai fighter poised to unleash a devastating blow at any moment.

"You've survived the trials so far… impressive," Draco said, his voice low and gruff, like the rumble of a volcano. "But you realize this match won't be as forgiving as the others."

Akira inhaled deeply, planting his feet firmly. Though sweat glistened on his forehead from the suffocating heat and the pressure of his opponent, his eyes burned with determination. "I never expected this to be easy, but I'm not backing down either."

A faint smile tugged at Draco's lips, a glimmer of respect flashing in his ember-like eyes. "I like fighters who don't quit," he remarked before raising his hands into a guard position, his feet shifting into a powerful Muay Thai stance.

The arena fell silent as the drumbeat sounded three times.

As soon as the last drumbeat faded, Draco surged forward with blinding speed. His leg swung in a wide arc, aiming for Akira's side. Akira barely managed to dodge, but the force of the kick's wind knocked him off balance.

"Damn, he's fast!" Akira muttered, regaining his footing and bracing himself for the next attack.

Draco didn't relent. A powerful right punch shot toward Akira's face. Akira raised his arms to block, but the sheer strength behind the punch forced him back two steps.

"That all you've got?" Draco taunted, stepping in to close the gap. His elbow shot toward Akira in a swift, precise strike.

"Not even close!" Akira shouted, using the moment Draco's elbow came close to sidestep and slip into close range. He drove his fist into Draco's torso with all his strength.

Draco absorbed the hit without flinching. "Not bad… but not enough!"

In a fluid motion, Draco grabbed Akira by the shoulder, lifting his knee in a sharp strike aimed at Akira's stomach. Akira twisted away in time to avoid the brunt of the attack, but the force still sent him stumbling backward.

The crowd erupted into deafening cheers, their excitement growing as the intense exchange unfolded. Draco's relentless attacks, combining punches, elbows, knees, and kicks, showcased the refined brutality of a master Muay Thai fighter. Meanwhile, Akira countered with agile footwork and the adaptive techniques he had honed over years of practice.

"You've got some decent moves," Draco remarked, throwing a powerful roundhouse kick. "But in a battle of endurance, you'll never beat me."

Akira panted, his breaths heavy, but his eyes remained steadfast. "Your strength is overwhelming, but I've faced worse than this!"

Drawing from his training, Akira began using his "Star Blade Technique" in unarmed combat. His movements became more fluid and unpredictable, weaving intricate patterns to evade Draco's relentless strikes. Seizing every fleeting opening, he countered with precise punches and jabs that landed with sharp, audible impacts.

Draco grunted as one of Akira's punches connected squarely with his side. He staggered slightly but remained unyielding.

"You've got guts, Akira," Draco said with an approving nod. "But now… it's time to end this!"

Draco shifted into a new stance, his energy surging as if ignited by the crowd's roaring anticipation. He launched a barrage of strikes—faster, heavier, and more unrelenting than before. Akira struggled to keep up, dodging and blocking as best he could. But Draco's powerful right punch finally broke through, slamming into Akira with bone-jarring force.

The audience fell silent as Akira crumpled to the ground, gasping for air. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, and his body trembled under the weight of exhaustion.

"Stay down," Draco said calmly, his voice carrying an unexpected note of concern.

Akira gritted his teeth and slowly pushed himself to his feet, his movements unsteady but resolute. "I… won't… give up," he said, his voice steady despite his battered state. His eyes locked onto Draco's, blazing with unyielding determination.

Draco paused, his expression softening into a faint smile. "Good… you've earned my respect."

The crowd erupted into cheers louder than ever, their excitement washing over the arena like a tidal wave.

The referee raised Draco's hand, declaring him the victor, but the applause and admiration were equally directed at both fighters.

Draco extended a hand to Akira, helping him to his feet. "You fought well, Akira. I'll be looking forward to the day you surpass me."

Akira clasped Draco's hand firmly, a proud smile breaking through his exhaustion. "Next time, I won't lose."

Draco chuckled, his voice warm with camaraderie. "I'll be waiting for that day."

In the fiery crucible of the arena, a powerful bond was forged. Their battle wasn't just a display of skill—it became an inspiration to everyone who witnessed it. The path forward would only grow more challenging, but Akira now knew he had earned the respect of one of Draken's strongest warriors.
