I woke up to Chifuyu sleeping next to me. I didn't move a lot and just decided to lay there and watch him sleep to help me get that horrible memory from my mind.
He woke up and rubbed his eyes, only to lay his gaze on mine. His face turned red, but before he could start apologizing again, I brought myself closer and buried my face in his chest.
Safe. When was the last time….I felt safe?
I could hear his heart beating fast, so I pulled away and smiled at him to try to encourage him not to freak out too much. He gave a nervous smile back, but he let his eyes fall a little before coming to mine again.
He opened his mouth to speak when I heard his phone go off. I could see him struggling internally, but I simply smiled. "Go ahead. It's okay."
He took his phone out of the room to answer, I heard him say Takemitchy's name. I sat up slowly, knowing there was going to be much more horrible things going on.
Chifuyu came back into the room looking as apologetic as ever. "Takemitchy needs me for…"
I know why he hesitated. He didn't want to say Toman.
"It's okay, Fuyu. Go about your Toman business." I let out a dramatic sigh, but before he could squirm too much. "You owe me more hugs though." I let out softly.
It isn't realistic for him to not leave me alone sometimes. Even still… I trust him.
I heard him approach me as I was still sitting on my bed and staring at the floor. He knelt in front of me to make me look at him.
"I will keep my promise." Were the words he spoke that shot straight into my heart.
Even now, he reads me so well.
I waved at him as I watched him leave.
I closed the door thinking of everything I had endured up until now and tried to remember all that was still coming.
I took a shower. I got dressed. I got something to eat. All with the faces of everyone in this world flashing into my mind.
This world hurts.
I let my mind go back to the few who stood by me now and even well into the future. The faces made me smile and revived my hope.
I slipped on my shoes and grabbed any gear I could carry with little problems.
Takemitchy goes through so much and never gave up, so I sure as hell ain't gonna. They'll know it's me now, but I refuse to stop.
I walked out the door to find a place to begin and a way to save my family.
