Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The End of Times

"Shit, it's probably our...end."

I solemnly muttered, gazing at the countless ferocious monsters looking at us as they bare their bloody rotten fangs and vicious stares toward us-- drooling with every bit of their sticky dark red blood-like flowing saliva from their disgusting mouth.

As if they can't wait to violently tear us all up and then, eat us all greedily, piece by piece, like some deer stuck in a small forest of some sort and they're hunted by a pack of lions-- but in this case? It's an endless number of lions, and we're the prey of this hunt, we are the only one left.

And they can kill us-- How? due to their humongous size of numbers, it's fucking endless as I can say that we're almost like those tiny little stars in the night sky sparkling against the wide gloomy universe, a good comparison as we're royally fucked right now.

But for now, let's name these countless monsters that we have to fight to survive;

The bone-chilling monstrosities that surrounded us are known as Chaos Corpses, disgusting incarnations of rotting flesh, born from corpses of dead people from various races with their flesh filled with maggots caused by the corruption of chaos.

Their large detached dark muscles in their body with their rotting skeleton that you can already see, due to the falling pieces of their muscles and flesh in their body-- tells you that they come from the death itself. It's the broken carcasses of many races of the universe who died in the war with the chaos.

Due to the corruption, the chaos managed to make these a lifeless dead body move to a thing like those in the movies with its sole purpose, it was to reap the life of the living and kill you mercilessly. Just like those fucking zombies!

Also, these things have the ability to make their dark red blood dripping from their bone marrow kill all types of people from different races-- due to chaos poisoning-- it can penetrate your whole body and melt the hell out of you from your insides, leading to your untimely and excruciating death-- because you're internal organs and body are literally melting from the inside.

That is, if they manage somehow to wound you deeply with their poisonous blood that basically guaranteed you a painful death.

But some of the factors that can affect your death was how long the chaos corpse that wound you is exposed to death and chaos.

If you are somehow, a super lucky person. You can be saved through a healing of an archpriest, and there's a lot of countermeasure for these putrid things such as; coating your body with mana energy, a elven healing salve which is a specialized drug from the elves that are made from the Water of the World Tree and many more things to counter the blood of these things.

However, as I inspect these things-- I immediately noticed something strange.

As I find something different in the formation of the monsters surrounding us. Behind the Chaos corpses, there's the...

"Goddamnit, what a really good fucking day, it's the fucking Smile of the Chaos!"

The man behind me known as the Mightest Shield said, as he despairingly growls when he looks at the large amount of monsters that we have to deal with-- which is practically unfair compared to the ten of us in this place.

Although it's similar to simple slime, it's a jet black jelly-like goo monster that wants to eat people up inside of its own body-- they melt these unfortunate people who got caught with their strong body all throughout from the muscles, tissues and bones of that person until nothing was left behind aside by that person-- from their ashes, even their wish and all emotions will be broken down to amino acids or the energy of this horrific monsters.

It's one of the scariest monsters that I have dealt with, even before.

And lastly, looking over to the dark horizon of this barren planet-- I saw something enormous that was galloping and thumping in the ground of this fallen lifeless world.

A thing nicknamed as Tentacles from Hell, a thing that will immediately kill you when it absorbs all the energy inside your body including your life force, that is, if they manage to get a hold of your frail self, and that basically is your doom.

Therefore, all of these monsters that we will have to deal with were dangerous in itself, and we have to be careful when we are fighting them.

That's not even considering the sheer size of their numbers.

But, as I calmed myself down-- I noticed something that's really strange in the arrangement of these fuckin' monsters.

The chaos corpses seem like the foot soldiers of some sort in this chaos formation, and the slimes.... as if they are being the damage or attack of our group.

Shiittt!!

"Fuck! There's someone ordering them!"

As I said to my team, I noticed a small dark monster, it's almost the size of a child with its appearance being hidden due to a dark cloak-- and I can't feel something from this thing.

It's a shadow-like entity that even I, one of the most knowledgeable people towards monsters in this universe didn't know anything about this monster that appeared before us, it's almost like he's the leader of these chaos monsters.

But as I squinted my eyes again, he was still there-- looking at us with his dark red blood eyes, and we managed to make contact through our eyes as he slightly smiled towards me.

Yet, I can't tell what this monster is all about, or how strong it is. I really can't measure this thing.

"It's strange... I can't feel anything towards this monster."

As I tried to remember the appearance of that monster that I have to deal with later on.

That is, if we managed to survive with these monsters, but I felt this huge uncertainty and fear towards this monster and its unknown strength.

It sure is a strange phenomenon as I never felt like this unknown gut feeling before.

Nonetheless, I didn't dwell much on it too much as our life-and-death battle was about to start.

Reminiscing about the things that these monsters can do aside from that unknown one will help me in this deathly battle.

As I calmed down myself looking at these horrible creatures, I took my deepest breath thinking that there's a possibility that this battle... may be my last in this damn universe.

"Shit, there's so many of these monsters."

A tired yet, arrogant voice sounded in the place we protected and stayed in, as I looked over to the position of where that one familiar voice guarded.

"We will have to face these monsters before we can even fight that shadow monster so just focus for now in these monsters, we don't have a choice right now", he said commandingly to us as I gazed calmly again at the countless array of monsters in these barren planets.

The man talking to us was known as The Savior of Races or basically, The Hero, the one who possessed the power to extinguish chaos and its evil countless forces.

His shining armor known as Achilles, engraved with the highest possible defense power in this universe is made by the best dwarfs in the World of Dwarvendelf, and they used their life force and energy to make this armor-- hoping that he will save the universe from despair of death and it's destruction.

The legendary sword known as the Excalibur, given by the Lady of the Lake, was known as the strongest sword in the Upper Human World and even in the Universe, enchanted with indestructibility and the power to cut everything in the universe. It can also cut concepts, although an albeit piece of it.

Despite that, even him probably knows that there's a possibility that this might be our last battle, especially through his tense expression that was seen on his face, the way he gripped his sword-- It's shaking, telling us that he's completely nervous about the outcome of this life-and-death battle.

Because the monsters that we have to deal with, it's fucking endless that it surround this fallen world an there's also monsters in the atmosphere, surrounding this fucking world- and countless is even an understatement for me.

I can estimate these horrifying monsters that we have to deal with, to survive should be around hundred millions, and probably even billions. And they have a sole purpose in this fight, to kill and devour us all in this gloomy place.

When I gazed back at the people that I have survived with all this time, some have those tense expressions, the same with the Hero while some are shakingly or steadily gripping their weapons. It's different types of emotions due to an upcoming bloody battle.

And it's just the fucking ten of us as the last members of our various races, holding this place down diligently with all our might, protecting it and this was our fight as the last members of the Unified Races and our dear universe.

It's deeply tragic that we lost the war before it even started due to many conflicts we had, and it's practically too late when we decided to cooperate with each other anyway, it's a losing battle for this universe.

"Hmmm." I sighed deeply at this deep realization that if we just...

This place we hold onto was known before as the Last Bastion of Universe-- where humans and many races resided and fought these monsters with all they got due to the following reason; to protect their races, their own history, to not be forgotten and lastly, to protect our universe which we resided in, to summarized that, it's to survive regardless of their reasons.

But right now, it's just a husk of its former glory. A gloomy and destroyed place of buildings and different races lying lifeless in the ground. It's just a gravesite for us, knowing that countless people of different races died in this place, hoping to protect it.

Seeing my tense expression, Jessica of the High Elves, and my loving wife... said to me with her beautiful pleasant sad smile, "It probably means our death right?"

"But we will not give up just like that to be killed like defenseless cattle you know? We should fight until our last breath, okay? My love?", She smiles softly but knowing her deep inside, she's probably scared shitless at the fact that we will probably die in this fight and there's only a slim chance to survive in this unwinnable battle.

"I love you... my wife", I just said that quickly as I kissed her deeply in her tender lips, knowing that this kiss will probably be our last.

And I want to savour and enjoy it with her within every bit of the second at its highest glory, knowing that I can never do this again if we started to fight.

She kissed me back deeply too, in this barren place of a once known beautiful world as we savour this unbending love at the best of times, as my heart flutters in bittersweet happiness in this precious time of love and joy.

When suddenly...

"Skritttttchhhhhh"

"Grrrrrrrrrrr"

"Woooooarrrrr"

Loud shrieking noises immediately come towards us from every direction of these vicious monsters.

And immediately, helplessness engulfs us, knowing that these monsters will now start attacking us with their endless horde and all of their might to kill us one by one.

As I immediately drew my beloved spear, Longinus, named after the Divine Spear known in the Einhenjar, as Spear of Destiny who has the power to change the destiny and fate of the person who holds it.

I solemnly sighed and prepared myself in this impending death fight between us and these monsters that dictates the future of this universe and-- my last fight in this reality.

Holding my spear, I looked again at the countless monsters and despite the initial panic in myself.

I calmed myself down again as panicking in this deadly situation will immediately dictate my horrifying death.
