Adam woke up slowly. As he regained consciousness, he felt a weight on top of him that immediately put him on alert.
When he tried to push away whatever was on top of him, he noticed it was strangely soft. He squeezed it slightly, as it fit perfectly in his hand.
"~Mmm…" A soft moan sounded in response.
Adam froze. If he wasn't mistaken, he was touching Selene's chest.
'I'm a dead man.'
He remained silent, waiting for Selene to hit him or do something worse, but only her soft breathing echoed in the room.
'She's still asleep…' he sighed.
Selene was sleeping peacefully on top of him, as if he were a pillow, her arms wrapped around his torso. Adam could feel a thin trail of drool dripping onto his clothes.
He didn't want to wake her up, knowing she needed to rest. So he let it go and closed his eyes, enjoying the warmth of Selene's body against his. However, within moments, he started sweating cold as he realized he was beginning to have a small reaction down there.
'Think about training… think about training…' He tried to distract himself, but nothing seemed to work. In the end, he could only resign himself to enduring a pleasurable torment until Selene woke up.
---
A few hours later, Selene finally opened her eyes.
'This is the most comfortable pillow I've ever used…' was the first thought that crossed her mind. It had been a long time since she had slept so well.
"Ugh… How long have I been sleeping?" she asked drowsily, wiping away the drool that had escaped from her mouth, still unaware of the situation she was in.
"It must be midday," Adam guessed, judging by the noise outside.
Selene frowned upon hearing Adam's voice so close.
She rubbed her eyes, and once she opened them, she found herself face to face with him. Their lips were only a few inches apart. She froze, just as Adam had moments earlier.
"E-this…" Selene didn't know what to say until she suddenly felt something hard brushing against her leg.
"Pervert!" she yelled, pushing Adam off the bed using her qi.
"Ugh! You were the one clinging to me!" Adam complained, rubbing his head from the impact. His little brother had instantly surrendered to the pain.
"T-that's impossible… I knew you had ulterior motives!" Selene accused, her face completely flushed.
"Master, no one knows me better than you. You know perfectly well that I would never take advantage of you while you're sleeping," Adam said seriously. He didn't want her to misunderstand.
"B-but… y-your p-pe…" Selene struggled to speak, but her head felt like it was about to explode from embarrassment.
Adam understood what she was trying to say and felt both ashamed and guilty. That had never been his intention.
"W-well… It's normal for me to have that kind of reaction when my master is so close. I'm a healthy young man," Adam admitted, blushing.
Before the situation could escalate further, a voice from the other side of the door interrupted them:
"Is everything okay? I heard some commotion," the innkeeper asked with concern.
Selene quickly adjusted her dress, grateful that Adam couldn't see her like that, and responded:
"Yes, it's just that I had a nightmare."
The innkeeper didn't seem fully convinced, but there wasn't much she could do. Besides, Selene had paid with a gold coin, so she preferred not to interfere.
"Alright then. Let me know if you need anything," she said before walking away.
Once the innkeeper left, the room fell into a deep silence. Both of them were lost in their own thoughts.
Adam had never touched Selene in that way before. In fact, all the physical contact they had over the years had been during training. He barely knew what she looked like, but after these hellish hours, he had a better idea.
Selene was slightly shorter than him, with a slim and athletic figure, as expected of a cultivator. As for her chest… he wasn't sure how big it was, but it fit perfectly in the palm of his hand. He had never asked about her appearance, not that it would change anything. Even if she were the ugliest person in existence, she would still be his master. In a way, he preferred it to be a surprise. The thought of discovering Selene's appearance with his own eyes was a sort of motivation for him.
On the other hand, Selene still hadn't fully recovered. She couldn't get the memory of sleeping so intimately on top of Adam out of her head. She had practically raised him like a son, and now, she could only blush at the thought of the accident.
For years, she had never had a moment to relax. She had always been on high alert, being pursued across an entire plane. And on top of that, she had to take care of Adam. But last night… all of her worries had suddenly disappeared.
She didn't know if it was simply because she desperately needed sleep or if, perhaps, it had something to do with Adam's presence. That thought made her heart race in a way she had never experienced before.
'He's your disciple… He's your disciple…' She repeated to herself over and over, blushing, until she managed to calm down a little.
"I'm sorry," they both said at the same time, as if they could read each other's minds.
"Pfft…" They both started laughing, easing the tension between them.
"I'm sorry… Sleeping together was a bad idea after all. I'm truly embarrassed by what happened," Adam apologized sincerely.
"It wasn't your fault. I was the one who couldn't control my body and ended up on top of you. It's entirely my fault," Selene admitted.
Adam knew that Selene was stubborn and that convincing her otherwise would be difficult, so he decided to change the subject.
"It's getting late. We should go now, or we'll lose an entire day."
They didn't have time to waste. If the rumors about the tomb were true, they needed to hurry before the great families claimed the best treasures for themselves.
"Yes, we need to visit one of the great families to gather more information."
"Which one will we visit?" Adam asked curiously.
"I don't kn—" Selene was about to answer when, suddenly, her Celestial Origin Eyes activated after a long time.
"We'll be paying a visit to the Blackthorne family."
