Chapter 3 - Lettres

Eliott, exhausted by weeks of relentless bullying, had made the decision to gather as much evidence as possible to finally expose the truth. He knew his options were limited, but he was determined to show the principal that Marc and his friends weren't just bullies—they were individuals who blatantly disregarded rules and justice.

In the quiet of his room, Eliott meticulously sorted the evidence he had collected. Bruises on his body, humiliating videos posted on social media, and anonymous testimonies were scattered around him. His room had become a sanctuary of despair and determination, with each document and image fueling his resolve to put an end to the tyranny he endured.

He had taken photos of the injuries inflicted by Marc and his gang. The bruises and scars were captured with clinical precision, each one telling a story of violence and aggression. Eliott knew that these visual proofs were essential to demonstrate the extent of the abuse he had suffered.

The humiliating videos, shared by the bullies on social media, were another crucial piece. They not only showcased the insults and mockery directed at him but also the sadistic laughter of Marc and his friends. Eliott had managed to save several of these videos before they were deleted, preserving them as irrefutable evidence of their toxic behavior.

Despite his efforts to convince classmates to testify on his behalf, Eliott encountered almost universal reluctance. Fear of retaliation, combined with the social pressure exerted by Marc and his friends, prevented most students from speaking out. Some even went as far as to discreetly threaten him, making it clear that any support for him could have negative consequences for them.

In a moment of desperation, Eliott decided to take matters into his own hands. He compiled all the evidence into a carefully prepared presentation, ready to be presented to the principal. The time had come to confront Mr. Lefèvre with the culmination of his suffering and struggles.

When the meeting with the principal was finally scheduled, Eliott entered Mr. Lefèvre's office with a determination that was almost palpable. His hands trembled slightly, but he tried to maintain a calm expression. Mr. Lefèvre, seated behind his desk, greeted him with a serious look.

"Good morning, Eliott. You requested this meeting to discuss recent incidents. What do you have to show me?" the principal asked.

Eliott placed his evidence on the desk, sliding it toward Mr. Lefèvre. Taking a deep breath, he began to explain each piece, from the most obvious to the most subtle. He showed the photos of his injuries, the videos of the humiliations, and detailed the documented incidents.

"Principal Lefèvre, these are the proofs that Marc and his friends have bullied me and caused me physical and psychological harm. You can see the marks from their assaults in these photos. The videos clearly show their cruel behavior and the public humiliation I've endured. I tried to gather testimonies, but no one was willing to speak out due to fear of retaliation."

Mr. Lefèvre examined the evidence with a critical eye. His gaze swept over the documents, videos, and photos, his face betraying no particular emotion. Eliott hoped the gravity of the evidence would be enough to convince the principal of the severity of the issue.

"I can see you've put a lot of time and effort into this presentation," Mr. Lefèvre finally said. "However, I must warn you that such serious accusations require solid evidence and reliable testimonies to be taken seriously. Without additional support from other students, it will be difficult to corroborate your claims."

Eliott felt a weight settle on his shoulders. Despite his efforts, he knew the lack of direct testimonies and general support from his peers put him in a difficult position. It was clear that the evidence alone wouldn't suffice to change things if the principal remained skeptical.

"I understand," Eliott replied with a resigned voice. "But I hope you'll take the gravity of the situation into account. All I'm asking for is a chance to prove that what I'm saying is true."

Mr. Lefèvre nodded slowly. "Very well, Eliott. We'll review your evidence and do our best to address this situation. But I advise you to stay calm and not attempt to resolve this matter on your own. We have procedures in place for these issues."

As he left the principal's office, Eliott felt a mix of relief and frustration. He knew the road ahead would be long and fraught with obstacles, but he held onto hope that his efforts might finally lead to some form of justice. Returning home, he carried the determination to await the principal's decision, while dreading the possible consequences.

That evening, the atmosphere at home was heavy. His parents sat at the kitchen table, looking worried. They had had a tough day, and Eliott knew their financial struggles continued to weigh on them.

Later that night, Marc, accompanied by his friends, made an impromptu visit to Eliott's parents. Their arrogance was palpable. They mocked the family's financial difficulties and used the situation to intimidate them further.

"You should really consider pulling your son out of school," Marc said sarcastically. "You know, you're not in a position to give him a future. Maybe it'd be better for him to work with you. You know, he could help out with the dirty work."

Eliott's parents stood tall in the face of the provocations. Rising with visible determination, they asserted that they wouldn't let Marc and his friends dictate their lives.

"We're doing everything we can to help our son achieve his dreams. We're fighting to give him a better future, even if it means making sacrifices. There's no way he's dropping out of school because of you."

Despite their resolve, Eliott overheard everything from his room. His parents, despite their suffering, displayed a courage and willpower that gave him some comfort. They wanted their son to succeed, and they were willing to fight to make that happen.

Moved by what he had witnessed, Eliott decided to intervene. Emerging from his room, he greeted his parents with a distant look and asked if everything was okay. His parents, despite their concern, replied with reassuring smiles. They didn't want Eliott to worry about their problems.

"Everything's fine, Eliott. Don't worry about us. We'll manage," they said with feigned confidence.

Eliott nodded and returned to his room, his parents' words echoing in his mind. Their determination strengthened his resolve to fight against the injustices he faced. He knew the challenges were far from over, but he was determined to fight for truth and justice, despite the growing pressure and threats.

Realizing that his attempts to discredit Eliott hadn't worked as planned, Marc decided to take more drastic measures. He understood that if Eliott had any chance of succeeding, he would have to act quickly to counter Eliott's efforts and destroy the evidence he had gathered.

Later that evening:

"Dad?"

"Yes, son?"

"Could you do me a favor?"

"What is it?"

"I know you're busy, but I wouldn't bother you if it weren't important. Could you make a quick call to Principal Lefèvre?"

"Why?"

"Well... let's just say... to set the record straight, if you know what I mean."
