Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: Reinforcements

The battle raged on like a storm in space—lasers streaked across the void, explosions rocking the silence of the cosmos as mechs collided with the enemy. Dominic's Titanus was a force of destruction, cutting through the waves of CMC mechs with precision and calculated violence. The cold air of the cockpit did little to dull the heat of the battle that had taken over every inch of his mind.

But just as he was preparing for another assault, his comms flickered to life with an urgent transmission.

"Dominic, this is Colonel Hailey. We've got reinforcements inbound—big ones," she said, her voice tight with anticipation. "The UOP's main fleet is heading our way, and they're coming in hot."

Dominic barely had time to process the message before he saw the data stream flash across his HUD—massive ships, hundreds of kilometers long, emerging from the folds of space like giants. The UOP's biggest fleet was arriving.

"120 warships?!" Dominic muttered under his breath as he watched the incoming fleet. These ships were of the orbital scale—colossal, towering structures capable of laying waste to entire enemy battalions with a single strike. They were a sight to behold, and Dominic couldn't help but feel a flicker of hope, the faintest spark amidst the turmoil.

"Confirmed," Hailey's voice crackled through his comms. "They're here to support us. Get ready for a shift in the tides, Dominic."

Dominic tightened his grip on the controls. The arrival of the UOP fleet was a game-changer, but it also meant that the enemy was about to escalate their response. The CMC wouldn't back down easily. This was far from over.

"Roger that," he replied, his voice steady despite the adrenaline that surged through his veins. The presence of the UOP fleet wasn't just a relief—it was a challenge. A challenge to push through, to make sure the CMC didn't have a chance to regroup. He wasn't about to let this opportunity slip through his fingers.

With the UOP fleet on the way, the battlefield began to shift. The CMC ships, initially confident in their overwhelming numbers, began to falter. Their formations broke apart, and the skies over the war-torn space were filled with more fire than ever before.

Dominic didn't wait for orders. He was a machine of destruction, honed for these moments. He slammed the throttle forward, launching his mech into the thick of the chaos. His squadron followed suit, responding to the opening created by the arrival of the UOP fleet, and the air was alive with the sound of lasers and explosions.

The UOP fleet emerged like a wall of death—massive guns on their hulls firing in perfect coordination, turning the tide in an instant. The first volley from the orbital warships tore through the CMC fleet, massive explosions erupting across the enemy ships like fireworks in the blackness of space. But the CMC fought back hard, their own warships retaliating with firepower that matched the UOP's in scale.

Dominic's mech was in the thick of it. He dodged fire from an incoming CMC juggernaut mech, ducking under its massive cannon. His own Titanus was a blur of motion, its massive fists swinging with brutal force as it tore through enemy mechs one by one.

The chaos was unlike anything he had ever seen—the UOP ships were bringing down fire from above while the enemy responded with all their might. Missiles collided with shields, mechs clashed in space like titans, and every corner of the battlefield was aflame.

But amidst the carnage, Dominic's focus never wavered. His eyes locked on the next target—a CMC destroyer mech, heavily armored and towering above its smaller companions. It was one of the most dangerous machines on the field, its powerful cannons capable of leveling an entire battalion in a single strike. And Dominic knew it had to be taken down, now.

He locked onto the target, his fingers dancing over the controls. His mech's targeting systems flashed to life, and the world slowed for a moment. His heartbeat matched the pulse of the firing systems.

"Got you," Dominic whispered under his breath.

With a sudden burst of speed, he closed the gap between him and the massive enemy mech. He powered through the oncoming enemy fire, shields flaring as the blast resonated across his frame. His mech's arms shifted, ready to strike.

In one clean motion, Dominic swung his massive fists, connecting with the CMC destroyer's chest. The impact sent shockwaves through the surrounding mechs, and a violent explosion erupted as his blow cracked open the mech's chest plating. The enemy mech staggered, its systems malfunctioning as it tried to right itself.

Dominic didn't let up. He was on top of the destroyer before it could regain its balance, his sword-like arm rising to strike once again. With a deafening clang, he brought the sword down through the mech's core, and the explosion that followed was so intense that it sent a shockwave through the battlefield. The CMC destroyer crumpled like a broken toy, its core ruptured and its systems collapsing in a cascade of sparks.

The battlefield trembled as the destruction rippled outward.

"Nice hit," one of his squadmates said over the comms. The recognition was brief, but it felt good to hear. He wasn't alone in this anymore.

Dominic's heart raced, but it wasn't from fear—it was from the exhilaration of battle. The UOP fleet was smashing through the CMC forces, one ship at a time, as the remnants of the enemy fleet scrambled to respond. Dominic knew that the battle was turning in their favor, but the CMC wasn't finished yet.

He scanned the skies, his sensors locking onto the next target—a CMC flagship, still hovering ominously in the distance. The flagship had to fall. This would be the blow that would crush their morale completely.

"Hailey, we need a full push on that flagship," Dominic said, his voice hard. "Now."

"Copy that," came the reply. "You've got the green light, Dominic. We're with you."

Without another word, Dominic surged forward, his mech barreling through the wreckage of fallen mechs and warships. His fingers flexed around the controls, his mind racing. He could almost hear Zara's voice in his head—Don't stop, Dominic. You've got this.

The flagship was within reach. The final piece of the puzzle.

He would finish this, no matter the cost.
