Seraviel waited until the murmurs and shifting feet of the students finally settled. His piercing gaze scanned the group, a wicked smirk curling his lips.
"That is all for today," he announced, pausing just long enough for false hope to set in before twisting the knife.
"So far, you're all pathetic, good-for-nothing embarrassments."
Rose, arms crossed and feet aching, fought the urge to roll her eyes. This angel has serious issues.
"And," Seraviel continued, his voice dripping with disdain, "even someone on their deathbed could knock you all flat. Try harder."
Satisfied with the crushed morale of his students, Seraviel straightened his cloak with a sharp tug. With an exaggerated flourish, he turned on his heel and strode back toward the academy, his wings trailing behind him like a pompous cape.
