Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Devil's Power Unleashed

The night had settled over New York like a thick veil, but Lucien Mordred stood at the apex of his penthouse, looking out over the vast city. It was a skyline he now owned, a world he could twist to his will. His senses were attuned to the hum of the city, each electric current, each fiber of fiber optic cable, each whispered conversation. They were all within his reach. He could feel the pulse of the streets beneath him, the energy of thousands of souls—lost and driven by ambition. But none of them mattered. He was above them now, not just a part of this world, but a force of nature.

His fingers lightly brushed against the transparent glass of the balcony, and a thought passed through his mind. Immediately, a surge of power ran through the city's infrastructure. The traffic lights changed their cycles, rerouting cars as if the streets had become a board game. Power grids fluctuated in his control, like he was a conductor orchestrating the very heartbeat of New York. A dark smile stretched across his face as he savored the feeling of absolute control.

"Lucien, are you there?" Serena's voice crackled through the intercom, snapping him from his thoughts.

"Always," Lucien replied smoothly. He turned, facing the dark room that stretched before him like a command center. Screens glowed with data, maps, and surveillance footage—all feeding into his senses. Serena was seated at the desk, her fingers flying across the keyboard, her eyes scanning the live feed of the city. Despite her youthful appearance and tech-savvy exterior, there was a fear in her eyes when she looked at him.

"There's an issue," Serena said, her voice tense. She paused before continuing, her gaze fixed on the screen. "There's someone in the city—someone who might be a problem. We don't know who they are, but they're tracking your movements. They've been monitoring you since your… rise."

Lucien's smile faltered, his crimson eyes narrowing. "A problem?" he repeated, his voice cold. He took a step toward the desk, his presence immediately overpowering the room. "Who dares to challenge me?"

"I—I don't know yet," Serena stammered, the fear in her voice growing. "But they've been getting closer. Every time you make a move, they seem to know about it. It's like they're one step ahead."

Lucien reached out, placing his hand on the screen. The power of Urban Dominance surged through his fingertips, and within moments, the hacker's location was pinpointed. It was a low-level operation, nothing more than a few unauthorized devices scattered across the city. But the audacity of it, the challenge—it intrigued him.

"They think they can outsmart me?" Lucien's voice was almost a whisper, but the weight of his words hung in the air like a storm cloud ready to break.

"Let's pay them a visit," he said, his voice turning to ice.

Minutes later, Lucien stood on the rooftop of a nondescript building in the lower East Side. His power flowed through the city like a river, and with a thought, the security cameras blinked out of existence. The power to his target building flickered and then died completely. He could feel the nervous energy of the people inside, their panic rising as their technology failed them. The once-bustling city street below was now eerily silent, the usual honks and chatter replaced with the haunting quiet of control.

Lucien felt a twinge of satisfaction at the chaos he'd caused. To the mortals, it was a mystery. To him, it was a display of his invincibility.

He walked into the building with purpose. The door swung open at his touch, the lock snapping like a twig under his influence. Inside, the group of hackers were huddled together, staring wide-eyed at the monitors as their equipment sparked and died. Their leader—a thin, anxious-looking man—was the first to notice Lucien. His face went pale, his mouth opening but failing to form any words.

Lucien's crimson eyes glowed in the dim light of the room as he took a slow step forward, his presence overwhelming. The man opened his mouth to speak, but Lucien raised a hand, and instantly, the words froze in his throat.

"I'm disappointed," Lucien said softly, the words laced with venom. "You think you can challenge me? You think you can hide in the shadows while I am the very light that illuminates this world?"

The man's eyes widened in terror. He tried to move, to speak, but his body wouldn't obey. Lucien bent down until he was face-to-face with the hacker, his gaze burning like fire. "Tell me. Who sent you?" he demanded, his voice low and commanding.

The hacker's face twisted in fear, but after a long moment, he finally whispered, "We're just a small part of a bigger group. The Order... they've been watching you."

Lucien's interest piqued, his eyebrow arching. "The Order?" he mused. "How interesting. Tell me more."

But before the hacker could speak, Lucien raised his hand, and with a subtle motion, the man's entire digital life was erased. Every file, every record, every connection he had ever made was wiped from existence. The hacker collapsed to the floor, shaking in disbelief as his world was torn apart.

"Let him go," Lucien ordered coldly, his power retracting. The hacker lay still on the ground, trembling but alive.

Lucien stood and turned to the others in the room. They were frozen, their eyes wide with fear. With a flick of his wrist, their devices turned on once more, but instead of their original function, they displayed a message—Lucien Mordred is not to be crossed.

He gave a final glance to the group, his gaze full of icy disdain. "You've been warned. Leave this city. Leave this world if you know what's good for you."

Back at his penthouse, Lucien sank into his chair, his fingers lightly drumming on the desk. The thrill of the confrontation still surged through his veins, but it was not enough.

The system had been useful so far, but it was time to expand his reach. His power, his influence—it was growing, yes, but it was still confined to the physical world. He needed more. Much more.

He turned to Serena, who was still monitoring the data feeds. "Prepare the next phase," Lucien said, his voice full of intent. "It's time we take things global."

Serena looked up, her face pale, but there was no denying the spark of fear—and respect—in her eyes. "What do you mean?"

"I will not just rule New York," Lucien said, his lips curling into a wicked smile. "I will rule the world."

As the city continued to sleep, unaware of the demonic force that now held it in his grasp, Lucien's mind raced with plans. His path to global domination was clear. With the Urban Dominance system at his side, there was no limit to what he could accomplish. Political leaders, celebrities, CEOs—none would be safe. Even the secret orders that tried to stand against him would fall like dust beneath his heel.

Lucien knew it was only a matter of time before the true test came. But when that time arrived, he would be ready. Because Lucien Mordred was no longer just a devil—he was a king in the making. And this world was his to conquer.
