"When they said hell was below us, I didn't know they meant it literally."
These were the famous words of the unlucky Mike Lorenski.
He was an archeologist by trade, and his hobby was adventuring. He was a very curious man who would venture on to some of the most unknown of worlds.
However, his career in adventuring all went downhill one day.
Before then, he had went missing for months and months on end, but no one searched for him, under the assumption that he was on another grand adventure.
All that his family and the media could do was wait for him and where he went, yet his anticipated return soon came to fruition. But there was a problem.
He wasn't his usual happy self. The self that always looked excited to tell his stories of his adventures, to flaunt all the treasures he found, to bring others to the ancient labyrinths he's traversed. But that was the opposite. He sent out a warning out to the world that could see him on the news.
"Stay away from there!"
The reporters at the scene were all utterly shocked by his words. They really couldn't grasp his words at all.
Reporter: Get away from... where?
Mike couldn't really answer that question. The events that took place 'there' messed him up to extreme levels. He couldn't really grasp where 'there' actually was, so he simply pointed to its direction.
Mike: ...Hell.
Reporter: Sorry sir, are you telling us to move away from this vicinity?
Mike: No!!! Get away from there!!!
All the reporters in the vicinity looked at Mike who pointed downwards. This place... 'hell'. Were his words referring to this 'hell' figurative or literal?
Reporter: Sir, you're not making sense of this-
Mike: --To hell with it! Just burn that hellhole down! That place really is hell!
The reporters were still confused by his words. However, one of then managed to get the point across in his mind and continued to try to understand him
Reporter: Well.... Sir, how do we get away from 'hell'?
Mike: DON'T FALL!!! DONT FALL THERE!!! STAY ABOVE THE SURFACE!!! DONT EVEN DO SO MUCH AS TRIP OR YOULL FALL INTO HELL!!!
Despite all of the reporters' attempts to understand Mike, his words still made no sense.
And to make matters worse, he was taken away by security before he could explain himself any further.
That was all the information the world had.
And with that, the world tried to fill in the gaps.
'DON'T FALL THERE!!! STAY ABOVE THE SURFACE!!!'
That itself was an adequate hint to the "hell" he mentioned, and Adventurers and scientists searched all over for it.
Through the deepest of ocean floors, the greatest of canyons.
However, this hell could never be found. After those attempts the hell, nothing new emerged at all.
Although there were no news on the search of "hell", there were some news on the one who 'found' it.
It should've been expected that the "hell" he went through would've driven him crazy. He even killed himself for the sake of never ending up in "hell" again.
This was an eye-opener for the rest of the world.
The insanity of Mike Lorenski
And the failure to find "hell".
This changed everyone's view of the situation.
'Maybe he was crazy from the start.'
These were the thoughts of many of the general public, which weren't unreasonable at all.
An adventurer who always went about, disappearing and reappearing all the time. Telling stories of the craziest adventure.
And maybe those same adventures drove him crazy. Maybe he delved into delusions of adventuring a "hellish-place", a place no one could handle.
And maybe the though of it itself drew him crazy.
And that's why the whole world gave up on this "hell".
Everyone except the boy, who'd follow in his footsteps.
And in terms of those footsteps, he followed the whole trail.
